"Philippa undertook the complete modernisation of the kitchen and bathroom to bring my 1907 cottage into the 21st century. I feel the design is contemporary while making reference to the age of the house, the colour and finishes used which lightened the dark internal spaces. The timber cupboard fronts and stone benchtop are functional and appropriate to the age of the house. The design retained and incorporated key features, while including modification to the existing fireplace and modern cooking amenities. Our early 20th century townhouse has a very small bathroom, which used to be gloomy and drab before the renovation. We wanted a design that would retain character and suit the era of the house but would be modern and clean at the same time. Philippa interpreted this perfectly. The result feels contemporary, light and airy—it's hard to believe that it's the same space! Several years on the bathroom is still an absolute pleasure to use.
