Pouahinau Marae Trustees have worked closely with APA Architects, Aladina in particular, to carry out a full comprehensive feasibility study to give our hapu a strong foundation to base future development of our Marae on. We are now at the stage of applying for major funding to complete the construction. Aladina has been very prompt with his actions. He is readily contactable and keeps us fully in the picture. Aladina's passion and enthusiasm for what he does for iwi is matched by his professionalism and regard for Te Ao Maori. He willingly attends all meetings when requested - irrespective of audience number - and is timely regarding meetings, reports and actioning matters. He listens intently and with heart to our stories, dreams and visions, taking care not to over-ride our mana and integrity. Tuhourangi is on the brink of realising a long held desire to re-build a marae at Tarawera and Aladina brought to us a spectacular design for the marae. Although unconventional in style, it is sympathetic to the land and incorporates who we are, our history and cultural icons that set us apart from other tribes. We contracted Apa Architects to do a feasibility study based on their successful and extensive experience with marae building projects - and they didn't disappoint! The firm worked extremely hard to capture the vision from marae members, communicated effectively with required building contractors and delivered comprehensive 2D and 3D plans that met our brief, on time and on budget . We appreciated the hands-on, respectful and professional approach of Apa Architects. We would have no hesitation in recommending them, particularly for marae development projects.
