Love being a member in this Club. It has so much to offer for all ages. The meals are delicious and the prices affordable! The venue if great for any functions you may have and staff are professional, welcoming and always greet you with smiles!

Excellent value for money in the food and drink departments. We go there quite often for a meal and the variety is very good. Staff are cordial and efficient. The whole atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant. We will be back as soon as lockdown allows.

Book motorhome in for the night out the back . Where it is set up for parking 28 motorhomes plus 4 powered sites with 4 fresh water taps around the gravelled area . Shower available in the club between 9am and 10am. Other helpful information on photos provided . Not bad for $20 per night plugged into power.

First time eating here today in years. Amazing Steak Sandwich and soooo cheap!! Meals came so fast, were a really good size and very full after. Definitely recommend. The menu all looked so yum! Will be back again 😀

The Club was originally formed in August 1887 and holds a prestigious Queens Charter. Though steeped in tradition the Club has recently undergone a $3 million dollar revamp which has included extensive alterations to the Bar, Bistro, Restaurant and Garden Bar facilities. The Club is recognised as having modern facilities and is the Entertainment hub of Petone, Lower Hutt and Wellington region. The Club currently has over 10,000 members who are young and old, male and female, from all walks of life with diverse interest. The clubs full name, “The Petone Working Men’s Club and Literary Institute” reflects this long standing history. Books can be taken out during opening hours and returns can be left at any time. I visit here usually once a month with a friend who is a member for lunch. I have found the food excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home so to speak. The decor is a bit dated sort of reminds me of the old pubs back in the day when you had live bands and it was great fun.

Awesome kai and atmosphere. We were booked for a farewell dinner in the main space but it became a bit difficult to hear each other and speeches. Wouldve done well to have booked earlier or in a different space as the room began to fill with lotsa happy people. Beautiful i will definitely go back

This place is great for their $5 Tuesday lunches. When in town, we take the mums out. Some days it can be very busy, other days less busy. They have a great $5 lunch selection, as well as their menu items. The food is always great as is the customer service. We will not doubt return again and again.

I was here as a guest of a club member. You're only allowed in if you are a club member or a guest of one. There were lots happening, including slots machines, a few games of darts, some games of pool, a game of poker and people just hanging out. We just had some snacks. Their spring rolls and loaded wedges were yum! Food and beer was really affordable. There's plenty of seating so you feel like you could have some privacy. Plenty of hand sanitizer stations around too. Some furniture seems like it's seen better days. But that is just a small detail.

Beautiful, relaxing, family place to eat and more importantly to chat and enjoy each other's company, yummy food, well presented, lovely and lively staff who interacts well with us the diners/patrons, love the new layout, piano in the corner for anyone to tickle it's ivories, no pestering flies. A very friendly, helpful establishment. Friendly bar staff and a wide range of meals that can adapt for those with food allergies. About 6 pool tables so there is rarely people waiting for a table to be available. Great entertainment and friendly, open members of all ages from children to aged members. Bathrooms were clean. The decor was tired and they were renovating a section during my trip there. Once completed plus walls repainted it will look amazing. There is also a deck with outside chairs and tables for socialising on warmer nights.

This is a large club which I visit once a month to attend a working lunch. Its not a particularly friendly place. Meals are good and well priced. Facilities are also good. The front desk is very authoritarian as is purchasing a meal and a drink. You must show membership card EVERY time you make a purchase; which is frustrating. Its not a particularly congenial place but meals etc are good.

Went with friends for dinner was ukalalei night I kid you not. Could hardly hear anyone over the not so great music. Food was cheap and you got what you paid for. Partners steak was okay, salad was a peice of fancy lettuce, a peice of tomato so thinly sliced it was see through and 4 strands of grated carrot with mayo that had no taste. Chips were fine. I had fettachinni, have made better at home and I am by means no cheif... Great play area for the kids which was nice as they were distracted from adult conversations. Overall Was fine but wont be going back to specifically eat there again which was a shame as we had planned to see how the night went and if it was good we planned to become members. Parking was terrible couldnt also find a park and walking a friend to her car at the back of the club smelt strongly or sewerage.

Extremely good facilities with two restaurants and enourmous spaces for everything on the ground floor. Need to be signed in by a member. All spaces very clean and tidy. Food is excellent in the downstairs bar but have not been in the restaurant upstairs.

I visited here for a poker tournament. It was a very friendly and welcoming working men's club. A place were the whole family was welcome. One downside, I ordered some food and it took ages to arrive. The kitchen backed up with so many orders.

Friendly people at the restaurant, good food and price. Good band. When I went to buy a drink 2 bar staff initially ignored me after they served 2 others the finally served me . I was asked if I was a member for points to which I said no, I belong to another. Then when I went back for a second drink the girl ask for my membership card and signing in slip. I asked why and she said that law required her to do this because I was asking for alcohol. I explained it was my second. It felt unwelcoming.

My family often meet at the Petone Working Men's Club for large family gatherings to celebrate birthdays. The selection of foods is always good. We often have 4 generations seated around 1 large table or two! Connecting with family is a precious gift and always time well spent. 💝

my son took me there after I had arrived from scotland, and asked if we could see around-- the door person had to get us temporary memberships -- no problems-- we had a few beers and had a look around,looked great.. tv,s to watch anything from football,cricket and even horse racing if you wanted.. It would be great at night with a huge dance area, and of course food from snacks to its very own restaurant -- would reccomend to anyone-- staff were pleasant and helpfull -- and as I was leaving heard -"where u frae--" a lovely female member who has been in New Zealand for over 40 years -- but still has a great scots accent -- if you are a member reading this you know who it is... I can only say that my visit was great and you must try this if you are in petone... will be in later this year when I visit my son/daughter in law --so get the beers ready for late july/august 2013
