N.Took in a vehicle that had been neglected and had some serious issues. Mcgirr motors fixed it up way faster than expected and much cheaper than i was quoted elsewhere. Car runs like new. Fantastic service
S.Got my WOF done here and the customer service was amazing had a problem with my back wheel suspension and got it all fix. It's so hard to find a good honest place that will service your car without over charging for what it's really worth. So happy that I came here. Will always be back for my WOF and any other services for my car. I highly highly recommend!
C.My car initially needed front suspension parts replaced to get a WOF, but after I booked in I had an engine fault happen - when I called to ask if they could check the engine in addition to the work already booked they were happy to do so, and on the day found a dead coil pack that they sourced a replacement for same day. Gary and Jo were friendly and pleasant to deal with, and they got the work done promptly and efficiently - I'm more than happy to recommend them especially for those working in the northeast area of the central city.

Even if you don't know much about cars, you get well treated in this workshop. Jo behind the desk is really nice to talk to and is helpful way over she would need to be, in short: the best receptionist you could wish for. Gary informs you in detail about your car's problems and will add some useful hints for future maintenance. My car and I were really well taken care of for an unbeatable price.
M.The team at McGirr Motors are fantastic, they gave me the most positive mechanic experience I've ever had. Jo is ever so friendly and helpful, and made me feel at ease when getting my van repaired. She talked me through everything, was incredibly transparent, and gave good advice.

P.Warrant of fitness done with McGirr Motors. Their receptionist is a gem and is great to deal with when booking and settling the bill. The pricing was fair and the work was completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
Their location is close to town - so it easy for drop off your vehicle before work during the week. The Orange and Yellow lines are right next door and run every 15 minutes into the bus exchange. Super convenient.

These people who work here really care about you and try to do their best to make you satisfied and happy. We had a couple of unexpected issues on our car and needed to be fixed asap. Even though they were freakin' busy they did a fantastic job in short period of time!

T.I came into McGill motors for a wheel bearing replacement and to check over our ABS system after reading some reviews online. So thankful we did. Jo in the office was exceptional, very down to earth and told us everything we needed to know in advance. V.I can't even start to explain how awesome was the service at McGirr Motors. Joe was the BEST, she helped us and guided us through the whole process, made calls, arranged deals, and saved us a lot of time, money, and worriednes thanks to her effective way of dealing with everything that needed to be done. As a traveler and foreing person is really easy to be scammed but in this place I had not a second of doubt, everything was really transparent, honest, and reliable.

D.After being scammed by multiple mechanics trough New Zealand as a backpacker, this was the first honest en helpful guy. He even let us use some tools for a couple of minutes to fix something ourselves. Very helpful and friendly. I’ll definitely recommend you to go to this mechanic in Christchurch.
N.I just popped in hoping to get a spot for a pre purchase check. They managed to fit me in later that day. He did a very thorough check and let me know of several very important things I will need to get fixed. He also went through all the important things to be aware of when driving an older car and what to keep maintained. As a first time car owner he gave me all the knowledge I need to know and more, so thank you!

M.Pretty generous rating to be honest. He "forgot" to look into an issue that I had specifically asked him to check and then stated I'll have to bring it back for him next time (which there won't be). Did the bare minimum even after me stating there was a couple of issues I was worried about (these weren't looked into at all). Also, communication was very lacking! Only went here because our usual place was booked up at this time of year, certainly wouldn't feel comfortable returning.
j.Awesome team, rung up to book a wof on the off chance they might have a opening that day, they fit me in within 30mins of me calling! Can not fault them was a great experience compared to every other place I had been. I had a old crappy Honda and he was happy even when it didn't start for 5min he got it going, while still having a laugh

N.If you are experiencing car troubles in Christchurch, go to McGirr motors. If you are not in Christchurch, try and get there to go to McGirr motors. Overall they have fair prices, listen to what you need help with, and are honest. We are two girls traveling in our van and have been ripped off by many other mechanics in New Zealand. McGirr motors was the first place to listen and explain our car's problems. Thank you McGirr motors for getting us back on the road!!!
