Spoke to AA for 15 minutes and got nowhere after vehicle stopped not far from Tahuna so rang the Tavern there and asked if they knew of anyone who could assist and yes in about 7 minutes two guys fronted up and towed us into the small township and dropped us outside Rpm Towing. As luck would have it the owner arrived a short time later with a vehicle in tow so I asked him if he could tow us to Auckland. He said yes but what is the matter with the vehicle so I told him we had a fuel leak and needed a mechanic or a tow as was not expecting to find anyone familiar with a Mercedes Viano. Rob the owner of Rmp Towing said “ had the vehicle serviced lately” Yes I said just last week. Ahh that will be it said they probably changed the fuel filter and have not put the line back on properly. He stopped what he was doing and hoisted the van and yes indeed he was right and the fuel line had come off. He fixed it on the spot and we went on our way. Excellent service and great attitude to help an unknown to him, traveller in trouble. He could have just said no and towed us to Auckland at a good profit to himself but he just got to it and fixed the issue. His wife was excellent too and spoke with us while he fixed the vehicle. The day was hot and we had dogs in the van so we were concerned about them and being stuck. Cannot thank Rob for his assistance and great knowledge. We would also like to thank Wendy at the Tavern and the two guys that towed us into town as we were stopped in a particularly dangerous spot, absolutely lovely people, great service and help.
