Highly recommend Central Taranaki Automotive! Very professional and friendly.We were just travelling through when we had some engine problems. They sorted us out the next day with no problems at all and actually took us in to explain the issues in depth! Best mechanic I've been to! The lollies at the end were also appreciated :).

Wow what service! 100% recommend and would make my regular if I didn’t live in Wellington! Kevan and the team went out of their way (including pulling one of their old auto electricians out of retirement!) to get us back on the road as we were travelling through. We had a scary moment in the middle of the forgotten highway with no phone service where the starter motor solenoid wouldn’t engage, we stayed up on the side of Taranaki that night and a similar thing happened so the next morning we zipped into town to see if we could get it sorted before moving on any further, Kevan and the team were super accomodating and got us back on the road in hours with great service and a great price too! We were able to head back up the mountain and still get all the hiking in we had planned for the day!

Whilst travelling on a national rally our Morris Minor BETSY broke down on the main highway. Following a recommendation we went to Kevin and Wendy Old to see if they could assist us. We are AA members but the present day hoops you have to go through with them make life very difficult, but with Kevin and staff nothing was too difficult. Once the problem was explained to them they dropped what they were doing and got on to recovering our vehicle and getting it back on the road. We were not a customer of theirs nor locals but that meant nothing. They got us back on the road in a very short time with a very competitive charge. Thank you Kevin, Wendy and staff for making us welcome and feeling like one of the family, and getting us back on the road to enjoy the rest of the rally.

I highly recommend the team at Central Taranaki Automotive! From the friendly and professional receptionists, to the efficient, professional and skilled mechanics! I took my car in for a WOF and a couple of repair jobs, I was able to leave my car there during the day while I worked and when I arrived to pick it up I let out a little giggle of joy as I almost didn't recognize my car! The staff had not only completed the tasks I took my car in for, but they also had cleaned my car inside and out, top to bottom! SO SHINEY! I am very impressed, best experience iv had with a mechanic yet, and not to mention very reasonably priced which is a huge plus! Kevin was a champ! I went in since all the other automotive shops were refusing to do me a simple favor of tyre rotation as my car really needed it (losing quite a bit of traction and understeering a lot). Kevin was happy to do so even though he was busy with other customer's cars and i just like how he treats and values each customer that comes by like an honoured guest. I'm from Auckland he understood that I wasn't from there and knows that time was limited for me and puts my safety first by also giving me a free wheel balance!! 26th of August I had a flat battery and no jumper leads and no access to any. I'm not from this area but I work and travel alot. One phone call and they came to pick up my car sort a new battery and delivered the same day. Definitely recommend! The battery on my campervan gave out whilst I was travelling through Stratford, I took it here without an appointment. They replaced my old battery, identified and fixed a dodgy connection from my alternator and sorted out an oil leak on my engine for a really reasonable price. We arrived here around midday and were on our way later that afternoon. Great, friendly, professional service. Would recommend.

Kevan, Wendy and the crew are AWESOME. Called in for a wheel alignment and was able to get an appointment that same day. When there we asked if they could look in to a knocking sound coming from the front passenger side and they were able to find and fix the problem in a very quick and convenient manner. They even helped us contact and speak with the the last garage that had made the mistake of putting the wrong parts in and Help us to get a refund. Kevan was very clear and helpful with his explanations, his experience and knowledge were definitely on display for this fix. I would recommend them to anyone!

We had a run in with a dodgy windshield wiper and lucky for us we were only one minute away from here. Kevan had us pull in and was able to replace our windshield wiper within minutes. We tried our luck and asked him about our belt that has been screaming at us everytime we start old Doris (our car) up, and no problem for Kevan, he fiddled around under the hood and bam, sorted. We were in and out within 15 minutes and only spent $20....And Kevan, the absolute legend even gave us chocolate as we drove out. Highly recommend. Thanks for saving the day Kevan! ☺

My girlfriend and I have been traveling the north island with our self contained Toyota Estima as back packers. We realized probably a bit on the later side that our oil level was dangerously low. Despite a busy Monday schedule, Kevan, Wendy and crew took us in for a full service and check of the vehicle. The amount of detail and hospitality with this family business has a great touch to it. Their daughter (sorry I didn’t get your name) even drove 20 mins in one direction to pick up a part for our car that we needed. Kind as can be and they even gave us an umbrella, 2021 calendar and some lollies to take with us on our travels! Kevan also took the time to show us and explain how certain parts of the car work and put in into terms that we could understand. Can’t recommend them enough, thanks guys!

Kevin Old the boss here diagnosed the problem in my wife's Mazda really quickly, a very worn wheel bearing was the cause of the noise. Sourced and ordered a good value replacement bearing kit and installed it the next day. Problem solved, super impressed with the expertise and reasonable price.

awesome place I wish every garage was as kind, helpful and informative as this one. My engine light came on and I took the car to a place in new plymouth the day before, who told me they couldn't help as they couldn't access the Peugeot computer system. It was a pretty desperate moment this afternoon so I called in to Automotive on the off chance and they saw to the car right away. Within no time the issue was solved, and I was explained what the problems were and what was done to fix it. Although no parts were needed to be replaced, it still took time and I expected to pay a fee but they just done it out of good gesture! It really helped me out a lot because car issues are never fun, and it was a reminder that there are a lot of good people around! Anyone who is having car issues or needing assistance I really can't reccomend these guys enough! thanks again

Super genuine and helpfull and relativly cheap, while maintaining a high qualitiy! Their primary concern is to deliver a excellent customer service, which they do. I went there to change my tires and they gave me 2 liters of motor oil for free. On top of that, I got some sweets and a calendar (which I wont use, but is still nice :) ). Highly recommended!

Wow is all I can say. These guys go above and beyond when it comes to customer service. I was on the Targa NZ Rally last week and broke a drive belt. They found a replacement and allowed us to use their host to fit the replacement and keep us on the rally. Thanks so much. This would have to be the cleanest workshop in Stratford.

Superb customer service and workmanship - in fact the best. We broke down near Stratford and ended up by chance at Kevan Old's work shop - what a stroke of luck that was. Kevan did everything in his power to get us back on the road - which wasn't easy as most of the parts companies were closed over the Xmas period. He kept me uptodate on progress and even rummaged around for a part in a local recyclers at one point. It's no wonder he has awards up on the wall of his immaculately kept workshop. Also worth noting is that the customer before me was picking up a gleeming Corvette Stringray which Kevin had just serviced - a good demonstration of the breadth of his knowledge. Can't recommend him and his team enough.
