I was quoted a rather high amount at my usual mechanics for brake repair (when brakes were repaired only 8 months prior). A friend suggested Midas and they did not disappoint! Nice and friendly staff! I've been here a few times and I will definitely continue to come here in the future. I'm adding to this review because I was touched again by their super professionalism and friendliness. I went to their place late Friday afternoon urgently because of the alternator issue and told them that I would need to drive to Auckland Saturday. They figured out the issue instantly and tried very hard to source the parts for my car. I was so glad that the car was nicely fixed and I was able to drive to Auckland safely and happily Saturday morning. Thanks again, guys! You are super helpful! :-) I highly recommend their service again!

My husband and I were on a weekend getaway to Wellington when the rear window on our car went down and would not go back up (bloody European cars😂). We rang our mechanic at home who gave us the name of a couple of businesses, but they were all too busy to assist. We got other local contacts off them and the fourth company we tried was Midas. They agreed to assist us straight away!! And this was before 5pm on a Friday as well!! We drove there and Gabriel fixed the window straight away. So not only did they come to our rescue soo quickly, they didn’t charge us! I am VERY impressed with their service and their kindness. If we lived in Wellington we would use these guys for sure. Thank you for helping us Gabriel, you’re amazing and deserve a raise!!

Went in to get a service and was very impressed with their customer service and professional manner. Completed the service in good time even on a Saturday when they are usually very busy and offered advice on certain improvements on the car. Always an absolutely amazing experience everytime I get my car serviced here. The customer service is excellent and they always thoroughly explain what they have done and how I can look after my car correctly. Have popped in on several occasions without making an appointment to ask a quick questions and have always been given excellent advice and help from what the lights on my dash mean to quickly changing a broken tail light. Ive had many cars that have not always behaved well and these guys have always got them in line with a can do attitude, excellent serviceman ship and true honest prices. the reception lady is super nice and makes booking a breeze with friendly text reminders. the mechanics are awesome and do not talk aggressively or try to rip me off. I've been to a few mechanics around Wellington and all of them have taken advantage of me because I'm a female with no knowledge about cars. I've had other mechanics take parts out of my car and do unnecessary repairs. I wont go anywhere else I highly recommend going to Midas over any other place

These guys go out of their way to make sure my car is fixed & up on the road asap AND as cost effectively as possible. NO SURCHARGE FOR BEING A WOMAN! You heard right, this is not one of those places that charges you more because they assume your know nothing about cars. They're honest, friendly and make good coffee.

(29/9/17) Great team with great service from the front desk to the workshop! Even though fully booked until the following Tuesday, the team found time to get my car on the lift and weld one of the exhausts back on my car after scraping off from a speedbump. Was short notice on my way back to Auckland and quickly stopped in for a 2nd opinion on safety and they could do the job there and then. Highly recommend Midas newtown! Thanks for the work guys.

Very good. They solved a difficult idling problem with our Mazda Infini. I had a low opinion of Midas shops before, based on hearsay plus a very bad experience at Midas New Lynn many years ago. These guys are a very pleasant surprise

I am a low budget backpacker and had a problem with the car. So I compared different mechanics who all wanted to replace different car components (quite expensive) . Then I came to Midas a few days ago. They were very friendly and said they could solve the problem in a few minutes. And they were right. My car is running perfectly now, without replacing anything - they even did not want to have money, so I gave them a few beers :) . If any backpacker has got a problem with his van, can definitely recommend Midas! Thank you very much for helping me!

These guys are awesome, and probably the friendliest auto shop in Wellington! I take my car in every 6 months for a WOF, and they are always fast and efficient. Any minor work needed is done during the inspection which saves bringing it back for a retest. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have used these guys to service my cars for years, they know their job. Last time I was in was to change a bulb, 15 minutes later I was out after many nuts were removed so that the bulb could be accessed. Nothing is ever any trouble.

I’m an avid car collector with circa 30 vehicles. I trust Thinus and the Midas Team with even my most treasured vehicles. Thinus is absolutely brilliant, always going the extra mile or looking at ways of keeping servicing costs as sensible as possible. I can’t recommend highly enough and I’ve been using these guys for the best part of 10 years now. To give you an example, I purchased a Range Rover Sport recently and the previous owner told me the brake pads needed replacing (and the warning light was on). Took it to Thinus to assess and 5 mins later he had checked the pad depth and realized that it was a misreading sensor only. He reset the warning light and away I drove. He charged nothing for his time and many garages would have gone ahead and completed the work as I would have been none the wiser. A Top guy and a Top Team who you can trust implicitedly. The crew on Adelaide Road, Newtown bent over backwards to help me out with urgent work on my car during an already busy day. They made it possible for me to WOF my car on the same day when it had failed that morning because of an issue with the back breaks. As a result I was able to pick up the car that day and still get my daughter home from school and then on to her sleepover. They even went down to the VTNZ and brought back the WOF sticker for me. They quoted me the best and worst case scenario and kept the price to the absolute minimum. I am so grateful, for their speed, efficiency and kindness and will be using them for all future repairs.
