A. E.I recently moved to Wellington and looked up mechanics in the area before moving and the reviews speak for themselves!! Although Rumen was busy and his shop was full he still wanted to help me. He made it work somehow, fixed the issue and my car was ready for pick up the next day. The service was amazing! Its a 10/10 for me.
R. G.I've been a regular visitor to this family owned service back in 2015 on my Nissan Lafesta, and I must say that this is one of the most honest service I ever received for my car. No upsells, everything is straight to the point. Rumen is an experienced specialist - I had an exhaust issue that prevented me from passing WOF check. Like a true engineer, Rumen was challenged by the problem and he actually REPAIRED the exhaust joint. This is rarely seen in a service nowadays - usually the damaged part, regardless of whether it can be repaired or not, is written off and replaced with the new one and the invoice's total increases dramatically. It has been 7 years since my last visit, but I still remember this, because I was astonished and pleasantly surprised with this old-school approach. And also, he had this small single-cylinder diesel engine at the back of the shop that he was restoring in his free time. They say that if your job and your hobby are the same - most likely you're doing your job better than everyone else.
If I ever move back to Wellington again, I would definitely entrust the service of my car to Rumen. All the best to you and your partner!

A very different experience for us after the other mechanics we have tried. They do WOFs as well so will defo be back for that (and future services) when it comes time. I had to get emergency WOF repairs over the Xmas period and I was resigned to getting a WOF fine but luckily Prop Auto came to the rescue in between Xmas and new year. Service was excellent, I can tell these guys love their cars and have a great deal of passion and experience. I found the work to be of a high standard and reasonably priced. Very happy, will be returning.
E.Best mechanic I have been to! He saved 2 backpackers when our car desperately needed repairs. He took the time to explain what was truly necessary, and even showed us the failing parts afterwards! The price was fair and transparent. Absolutely amazing service, I wish I lived here so I wouldn’t have to go anywhere else.
T. M.He fixed our car by taking a lot of effort and patience into the diagnosis. Has a lot of experience. We were travelling in our campervan and were loosing coolant. Another garage told us, that it's the head gasket and it will cost us thousands of dollars. We went to Prop and he told us another story... He saved our trip! Nice man, best mechanic ever. Explains everything. Go there! So simple is that!

A. E.Highly recommend this car service. Being a car owner in Wellington for a few years I had come across some dodgy mechanics who would try to milk as much money from you as possible. This was never the case with Prop Auto. The main mechanic there is an honest and reliable guy. He would always explain what's wrong, what needs to be done, how much it will cost and will give some advice for future. Had been their customer for a couple of years, never had any issues.
