Reviews of Little & Friday — Ponsonby
J.
The sugary treats were very tasty and did feel and taste more premium worthy of the slightly higher price tag for what it is. Both the sweet and savoury options were great.
D.
The little bakery that could. Our son brought us to this neighborhood bakery for breakfast. Their individual quiches and specialty breakfasts are superb. We also bought their biscotti and chocolate chip cookies on the way out - again, excellent. I am already making plans to come back any day I can while visiting New Zealand.
O.
This place is far away from any tourist spots. Their target audience is entirely locals. The food is just great and gets served beautifully! The place is full during weekends, so it is better to book a table in advance as there is probably no better place for branch in whole Auckland.
T.
This store is out of our way and we chose to visit it because we're on a mission to visit the best donughts in Auckland as listed by Urban List. I have been here before to purchase the biscuits as gifts, they are so well received. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was in full swing. Lovely vibe and atmosphere. The food on display by the front window is TO.DIE.FOR and as my partner in crime said "this is instagram food". So hard to decide we ordered a quiche lorraine and a sausage meat focaccia sandwhich. The drinks were latte and carmel thickshake. All was lovely and heated up with a side of garnish. Sidetracked from our mission? YES! The donughts deserve their reputaion, heavy, generous filling, large and tons of raspbery coulli. Wonderful! I guess if you've got this far I would say if you're new to the establishment, you need to ask at the counter to make your order because the menu doesnt cover it and when you go back up to get another order, take your little dinosaur with you. The only negative comments I would make is the poor oversized goldfish in the fish tank, that needs a super good clean and our tables were sticky. But this place has a wonderful world-wide repuation and it's well deserved.
m.
Fantastic place for a a sweet tooth. Massive selection of sweet treats. Also thty have a full menu for breakfast etc and cafe food. Bring a full wallet as it is a little pricey... then again you get what you pay for and you do get quality.
Q.
Delicious coffee and baked goods! Wide choice of cakes to takeaway! Delicious pie especially the chicken flavour, friendly staff, many cafe in Aucklan but this one shouldn't be miss!!
F.
Tucked away on a quiet street in Belmont, Little & Friday is a cosy little cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
The cabinet has ample food with a small a la carte menu. The drinks selection is limited but has a good range of teas and coffee.
The food was delicious, however the service was quite ad hoc. The seating and till are in separate rooms and it isn’t immediately obvious that there isn’t table service. The staff didn’t seem very coordinated.
Overall, food was delicious but the service could have been better.
M.
We came here for brunch on a busy a Friday morning. The staff were friendly and the food was fabulous.
We also took away some of their cakes and donuts. Cakes were amazing but the donuts, while delicious, were very oily.
S.
Love the mushroom quiche, summer fruit tart and of course the delicious original donuts. So good for the soul, probably bad for the heart 😋.
Coffee is rubbish sadly, cappuccinos without froth? You need to employ a barista for the money you're charging for coffee.
My summary: food 👍👍👍 , coffee 👎
P.
Remembering Europe in this beautiful and quaint unique place.Lunch time gets very busy no guessing why.Delicious assortment of food delights to leave you happy for the day.
I.
Great place for breakfast. Veggie brioche was delicious.
J.
Great sandwiches and amazingly good donuts
K.
ENORMOUS and amazing sandwiches. The dudes behind the counter are pretty cool, but the woman seemed to hate everyone. And the lack of a bathroom is weird: the place is apparently for takeaways, but there are seats for dining in, so surely there should be a loo?
H.
Vintage interior, cozy. Great food with good ingredients. Though expensive, good quality food.
M.
Amazing pastry and great vibes. 10/10 for both sweet and savoury!
V.
Delicious pies, quiche and dessert! Better than home made!! ;)
A.
Food was Amazing so much to choose from but our coffee wasnt we had a flat white n cappuccino Not enough coffee but all and all good place
M.
Absolutely fabulous lil cafe.
A sure to please favourite!
b.
Highly recommend
Only takeaway cups but the coffee is good
Food...come hungry
Great vibe, even better food
Average prices $14 for the tart
E.
This place is so good! Tart was amazing, and the brioche was unreal. My only complaint is that I ordered too much food and it was so delicious I overate.
E.
Great pastries, cakes etc. All well balanced, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. Good coffee too.
G.
Not clearly visible pricing when ordering at the counter (I just had takeaway, didn't see the menu) and a bit pricy (normal price coffee but 11 dollars for a meat pie?!). Beautiful looking pastries, but didn't try this time. Nice looking garden to sit in at the back.
V.
Very simply - I can never just walk past without buying anything!! Exquisite food, great window display, excellent coffee and REAL 'Mint' Tea. Not to mention, Peanut Brittle, Shortbread, Fudge Brownie, Savoury Tarts and Pies, Salads, Donuts!! Like...... GET IN MY BELLY!!!!! Great service and staff, too.
A.
I come to ponsonby once a two weeks for haircut and it was first time to try their sweet stuffs and brought back to my partner and we both loves it!! Back there soon again!!
C.
Great coffee, great staff. Baked goods are amazing but could do with some smaller bite size pastries
L.
I've been to little and Friday and totally loved it.
My only reservation is the speed and efficiency of the service.
I'm a business owner myself and know that the best takes time....but I also know that a totally happy customer will grow my business for me.
A good movie is one you rave to your friends about , a good cafe leaves you smiling and relaxed not concerned that the food cost more than the Asian bakery down the street.
A totally satisfied customer is always right...
Spread the good word.
It's worth a visit.
R.
The food is delicious - especially the sausage rolls! - but the coffee is only OK; it's a little weak for my taste. The back garden is a very cool place to enjoy treats while the kids run around. It gets VERY busy, so don't expect a quick visit.
K.
I love coming here with my hubby. The food choice can be a little limited, but it tastes great! Staff is good, but seating is rather limited. Love their strawberry tart and freshly squeezed orange juice. I don't drink coffee, but hubby said coffee is great (he drinks long black)!
M.
Great quality savoury and sweet bites! Tasty food and different from what the average cafe would serve. Have a try, you won't regret!
C.
Great savoury brioches and sweet tarts and donuts (with proper raspberry coulis!). The breakfast wraps and anything with hash is DELICIOUS, servings are generous across the board. Coffee is pretty good and the deco and atmosphere is pleasant. Well worth a pilgrimage if visiting Auckland!
R.
Stunning food, lovely service, very prompt
M.
Relaxed spot on ponsonby rd. Great coffee and yummy bakery food.
M.
One of the best Cafes in Auckland for sure! Great little place off the main road, with a huge selection of all the sweet and savoury foods you could ask for. The coffee here is always great too thanks to the experienced Baristas and the Supreme beans. Make sure to get in quick to get a first pick at all the freshly made & baked food. Nice little courtyard out the back to sit on a sunny day too, this is a for sure must visit, you wont be disappointed and I guarantee you'll be back with all your friends.
D.
The service was good but the amout of food that was on the plate was too little. $15 for one little scoop of salad is not enough
S.
Great place for tart/quiche or dessert lover. We tried frittata, lamb wrap and choc donut for brunch, simple but all tasted good (food lables were quite confusing though). Coffee on the other hand was soso, might blame the beans they use, Eighthirty is always less complex and flavorful.
v.
So so so so so beyond delicious. And surprisingly reasonable priced. Coffee is always BOMB and haven't had a bad meal here yet. I would rate 6/5 if I could. Nice space and relaxing atmosphere.
H.
I always order the quiche and it’s always so damn gooood! Everything looks top quality
A.
Without doubt the best breakfast I have ever eaten. Everything was sublime and the staff were extraordinarily helpful and engaging. Just go there. You won't regret it. 8 out of 5 stars 💗
G.
Perennially the best cafe in the neighbourhood. Delicious food and beautiful presentation. Excellent coffee, too. Can't go past the sweet brioche and the donuts!
H.
Cute lil cafe with so many yummy treats!
Y.
I come here fore the chocolate raspberry cake. It's a decadent treat. Price on the expensive side but food almost justifies it.
T.
Food is delectable with an abundance of flavours to choose from which are different from the usual. They had a problem with the new system they had put in and our pastries went MIA. They were very apologetic and gave us our money back for them which made them taste even better knowing how much they care about their customers.
Can't wait to make the trip over there to go back! Mmmm
D.
Environment is good, children are welcome. Such a nice family Cafe. However, coffee waiting time was quite long. I asked staff chase order several times.
F.
Saturday 5th August. Sadly this place has gone downhill in some areas. The backyard is great for kids but all the toys and some of the tables were broken and in serious need of repair. Some toys and wendyhouse were completely falling apart and unsafe. There are big nails lying around. Service for our party was mixed, one order never came out and had to be chased down. All a big shame really as could be so much better with not much more effort! At least the food is still good...
F.
Wonderful presentation and product. Makes awesome Christmas presents.
Jars of Delicious Cookies 😊
A.
This place is easily the best eatery/cafe/foodbar in Auckland ( but most likely the best in New Zealand). The jaw dropping cabinet is really world class.
Staff are kind, friendly and very helpful even in the biggest rush.
In my opinion this place is the best example for the rustic.
If you like doughnuts, try the creamy raspberry here.
Orange cake is yammm too.
I'll come back soon.
T.
DELICIOUS!! Out of this world. Their pastries taste like heaven. It's the whole experience though, the garden outside, the decor and even the loo! :) If you have young children, there is a lovely play park right behind the next block which you can access via a back lane - ask the locals who are dining and they'll guide you.
R.
Cappuccino and chocolate brioche were good!
If the two ones had arrived at the same time (I got cappuccino first and after a few minutes the brioche), it would have been more appreciated.
Anyway, looking forward to trying the other sweet options.
N.
Amazing cafe. Lived on the shore for 10 years and only just discovered this. Top quality food, you can see the food prep area from outside - its all freshly made and best part is your wallet won't be hurting afterwards
M.
Great place. Beautiful ambience. Lovely food. Although very small menu but with amazing cabinet food! Would love if the coffee cups were bigger tho!
B.
Hands down best baked goods + coffee
J.
Wow! Such a tasty Croque Monsieur. Thoroughly enjoyed a stop in the rain .
J.
Nice locale. Food great. Generous portions. Service a tad patchy but friendliness of staff and gestures of goodwill made up for it. Outside seating right in wind path.
S.
Lots of tasty fatty sugary treats to be had for sure. It's just that when you see a massive drum of used beef tallow being rolled out to a truck out front you understand why it makes you feel so disgusting after. Mmmmmm molten lard. And yes I understand that it's the best thing for frying doughnuts but it's still pretty gross.
J.
My husband says we bought a house down the street just so I could make Little & Friday my local - I was drawn to the vivid yellow chairs out front when they were still "Little" and hooked with the first bite of brioche. A must experience - whether you eat in or take your parcels of treats a block over to enjoy the Northboro Reserve's lovely harbour views from a park bench or the busy playground.
W.
Great donuts, average coffe. Great atmosphere. They also have woodfired pizza and meats, yet to try them but hope to soon!
F.
Ordered a simple sausage roll which was served with lettuce and Tomato Sause. Very enjoyable. Limited parking out front but plenty on the side streets.
P.
the food and coffee are great. no menu which is odd, you need to ask whats what, some staff seem unhappy and atmosphere could do with attention.
E.
Great food and service.
C.
This place is wildly expensive but boy is it a treat! They have the most amazing range of cakes that are so creative and cool! Very impressed! Highly recommend!
S.
Always something delicious to be had from here whether on the run or having time to sit and enjoy. Asparagus quiche was delicious.
D.
Enjoy lunch at " Little & Friday cafe in Belmont . has most amasing homemade fresh baking that I have seen for a long time.. today I had healthy caramelised onion flan & best long black coffee great helpful staff.. .
C.
We go out of way to visit here for weekend lunch. Amazing food 🤤
A.
Top notch customer service, gorgeous sweet delights to tantalise and even takeaway as a gift, try a cream doughnut - mmmmhmm.
Off the beaten track but most definitely worth a visit!
M.
The food is great though very expensive but then you pay for what you get which is amazing food! Eating outside in court yard is lovely feels like a home Garden.
B.
The food was delicious & the service nice. I did find the birds flying in & out of the cafe very unsettling though.
R.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the friendly pastry staff. Very friendly and caring service here and a sweet place to hang out with a coffee, and a magazine.
D.
Simply the best breakfast I have ever had,and I have had a lot of breakfasts. You have to try the bacon & egg burrito.... Amazing.
A.
As a foodie, I take great joy in discovering places that offer delicious eateries at reasonable prices. Lots of expertly baked selections to savor here, absolutely delicious!
S.
Amazing food, drinks and coffees.Great atmosphere and friendly staff.Highly recommended
K.
The original L&F is still as cramped as the Newmarket branch but the food is just as stunning. The cream doughnut is always a winner, as are the veggie brioches.
D.
Great food. Average service and seating. Bought cook book but discovered errors in recipes.
V.
absolutely love their malaysia chicken pies! Little bit pricey but worth to try!
z.
Their foods are to die for. Either savoury or sweet selections are extremely tasty and delicious, also very generous portions.
k.
Been going here for around 6 months now and loving it ... the best home cooking ever fresh and coffee to die for top job
E.
Love going here! The atmosphere, food and staff are always amazing. Definitely worth it.
L.
Delicious tarts and treats! Focus on the food when you're here though as the coffee is average.
L.
Nice cakes, but they were not that much bigger than muffin size and $9 each - ouch!
S.
Just delicious. The food is outstanding. Love the donuts
S.
Superb food! Never had a better breakfast or lunch in Auckland 💕
S.
Nice place to go to have a very nice meal with your partner when you have some free time together, totally recommend to anyone.
J.
Food is amazing and looks amazing but the hot drinks are a bit hit and miss!
You have to visit even to just look in the cabinets 😍
D.
As a visitor to the area my daughter took me for lunch last week - food fantastic and I normally don't object to paying for good food - but seriously the prices are way over the top which did spoil the experience sadly.
P.
Amazing. Go there! Pricey but worth every cent. Love it.and service is great!

(Translated) It's always a favorite place for acquaintances whenever you go to Auckland. When I went to the first place, I didn't have much bread in the afternoon, but this morning I went in the morning and the delicious bread was filled with donuts. On a nice day, you can sit in the field and eat.
