Reviews of Mizu Bread
A.
The breads are a bit disappointed ☹️ and when we went to the shop most of food already gone. My friend order a fruit roll or something wasn’t good with can fruit and the cake part is a bit dry. But I do like the beef sandwich 🥪 yummy!

Mizu used to be on the outside of Kazuya Restaurant on Symond Street on the Newton end, but they now have their own shop. The shop is quite small but does have a few tables. There is an upstairs area but it was closed off when we were there. They are only open Tuesday to Thursday from 1100-1300. The small time frame makes it a bit hard to get things from there.
They do have a menu with the different bread, sandwiches and pastries that they have on offer which you can order from. They also have the available items on the counter so you are able to pick and choose the items that you are wanting. There is also a cabinet with dessert items. You go up to the counter and order the items that you want.
We tried the sandos as well as a few of the other items. We had the egg, pork and chicken sandos. All three were nice but I liked the egg of the lot. I thought that the pork one would have been better if the crumb was crispier. I would have liked a bit more seasoning on the chicken so it tasted more chickeny but the teriyaki sauce was nice. The bread was really soft and fluffy.
The cheese seaweed sourdough bun was really tasty. I loved the chewy texture with the seaweed. The melon pan was creamy and custardy but didn't taste like melon (wasn't sure if it was supposed to). The chocolate bun was just chocolatey and delicious. The best item there was the curry pan. Deep fried buns filled with either veges or beef. I liked the beef one better but the vege pan was very close. For dessert we shared the yuzu doughnut, the cream puff and the cheesecake. The yuzu had a nice flavour but was a bit on the sour side for me. It was alright when eaten with the doughnut though. The cheesecake was creamy and had the right balance of sweet and sour. I really enjoyed the cream puff. the craquelin was really crispy and the cream inside had a nice vanilla flavour.
This is a really nice place to stop for some tasty baked treats. I would recommend the curry pan but most of the items there is tasty so you can't really go wrong. The place is quite small so it might be hard to get a table with larger parties. You are able to takeaway though. Be aware that they keep going until they sell out so best to come earlier rather than later.
Edit: i tried the menchi katsu bento which came with soup and it was really tasty. The menchi katsu is a hamburger steak coasted with panko and fried. It came with rice, salad and dessert. it was quite tasty. I also got some of the curry pan (fried bread filled with beef curry), earl grey melon pan and the yuzu doughnut. I enjoyed them all. The earl grey pan had a floral flavour for the topping.

My birthday treat was to try all the Mizu Bread delciousness and I was not at all disappointed! A true treat - highly recommend the vegetable curry pan and the cheesecake, yum ✨

Japanese bakery/cafe on upper symonds st. They do amazing bread, sandos and japanese sweets. The bread are all so soft and flavourful. Shokupan is the softest bread I’ve tried. The mochi breadstick is a must try. Highly recommend!
K.
One of my favourite places! I highly recommend the curry pan, creme caramel and the yuzu custard donut, absolutely delicious. The staff are always friendly too.
My only negative feedback is I wish they were open more often!
A.
Katsu sando was so yum, very soft bread and very crispy chicken. Better than i expected for a sando
B.
As a student I unfortunately can not visit here more often. However, every time I do it's always been a great experience. Highly recommend as an occasional treat.

The chicken Katsu sandwich is heavenly. The best chicken I have ever eaten by a long shot! Unbelievable and a must try!

Mizu has become my fav bakery shop recently, really recommended teriyaki chicken sandwich, cream pan and Swiss roll, Don forget to get there earlier if you wanna buy some Swiss roll, they sold out fast!!
C.
bought two of the egg sandwiches. the bread was nice and soft with good filling but it's too expensive. $27 for two egg sandwiches.
B.
The katsu sandwiches are meaty and decadent, and the curry pan is the best I've ever had. The space is small but perfectly formed and the staff are pleasant and efficient. Highly recommended.
M.
Best Japanese bakery in Auckland😍🍞🥖🥪 Delicious bread and lovely staff❤️ Pork Katsu sandwich is a must try❣️I highly recommend this place😉
E.
Bought the baked cheesecake which I had half of for dessert it had a perfect texture and level of sweetness. Everything looks good but could have more of a selection of ready to eat savoury items apart from the chicken katsu sandwiches.

A little on the expensive side – still very nice though. The melonpan here is good.

All of the best parts of Japan is found here at Mizu. Delicious, immaculate attention to detail, attentive service, clean surrounds. I'm stoked they've got a standalone from Kazuya now, they'll be taking a lot more of my money from here on out.
C.
Yummy curry pan, white bread sandwiches, tiramisu & swiss roll. I also had a delicious latte.
K.
This is a cute little table in the doorway of Kazuya restaurant on upper Symonds Street, and it's open for three lunchtimes a week only.
If you work near here, or if you have a day off from your job far away, make the trip. It's outrageously good.
The sandwiches, which are the star attraction, are absolute perfection. The bread is ultra soft and a tiny bit sweet. They're completely stuffed with delicious, tender meat. And there's some salad in there too which seems kind of token but adds a lot to the flavour. The katsu was my pick from that and the teriyaki - the katsu outer is perfectly crispy. The teriyaki was my husband's favourite.
Desserts: valrhona bun is overpoweringly chocolatey, just as you'd hope. And the creme caramel is silky smooth, subtly vanilla flavoured, with a dark, strong caramel sauce underneath. Don't miss them!
A.
Excellent service. Very cute kids, makes you feel right at home.
Uniquely Japanese bread “shokupan”, stayed in shape all day walking around town, very impressive!
The mini chocolate buns were also very tasty! Did not regret getting them.
Tip: arrive early as there will be a queue.
Large shokupan : $9
Mini choco buns: $2.5 each
No photos as we ate them all!!!

Definitely worth making the effort to visit this little bakery run by Kazuya, open Tuesday to Thursday from 11am - 1pm.
Their mochi breadsticks and katsu (pork or chicken) sandwiches are to die for. The melon pan is also quite the highlight, close to hitting the standards found in Japan 👌🏻

(Translated) Specially picked a low peak time, still have to line up!
How could his bread be so delicious!
Since the last time I ate a surprising dinner in Kazuya, I planted all the food in his house, even ordinary bread

特地挑了個低峰時間,還是得排隊!
他家的麵包怎麼可以這麼好吃!
從上次到kazuya吃過驚為天人的晚餐後,就種草他家的所有食物,甚至平凡的麵包
