I needed a not too sweet cake for my son's birthday. The stuff of The Gateau House Queen Street advised me to try their Black Forest, and they were right, all our family members liked the cake ^_^ it was just enough sweet and pretty light, thank you!

Love their cakes. They aren't too sweet and heavy like others. My favourite was blueberry yogurt cake.

Delicious cakes for when I'm feeling low. Pretty little shop right here in Queen St. Excellent and warm service. Great hostess and terrific blueberry cake 🍰

We had the chocolate mousse cake, baked cheesecake and a coffee cake with a latte and an iced tea for my friend. I love going here with friends because its a chill place to catch up and the desserts are so pretty! The interior is not the prettiest but the beautiful and yummy desserts are so worth it. Coffee was great as well and the strawberry mousse cake was almost too pretty to eat. Service is always nice, you order at the till by the coffee machine not by the cake cabinet. They also have outdoor seating.

Ordered a coffee walnut cake initially but it was old and very hard. It took a fair bit of effort to cut a small piece with a fork. The flavour and texture reflected the age. Managed to change it to a Tiramisu which tasted fresher. For the price, the slices are tiny and it didn't help that the staff didn't offer an apology and replaced the cake grumpily.

Nice and beautiful flavours of macarons and macaron cake! A little too sweet but yum!

Amazing patisserie and coffee cafe! I loved the Mont Blanc, paired well with a flat white, highly recommend!

Too pricey for a slice of cake. Most Bakery goods is expensive here although nicely decorated and presented.

Kumara cake is my favourite, not too sweet and hot chocolate is perfect match with the cake. Great service always.

I ordered online on the day, received a prompt reply, and had no problem picking up my cake. It was so delicious, soft, moist and balanced! I would definitely buy from here again!

A tasty cake and hot tea go well together hand in hand. This is a great location to have a catch up. The place is big with many seats out in the rear of the building with a sheltered out door area which could do with a bit of work such as some music to bring a bit of life to the place. But other than that, the service was good they refilled our tea pot with out hesitation and they were friendly, cakes are delicious and there are many to try.

Delightful setting great coffee, and miniature cakes quite yummy! Even the take home cakes in 2 sizes in a box make them easy to carry!

Ever walked unto a cafe and prompty fainted with sheer delight? This is a distinct possibility with The Gateau House. Situated on Queen Street, opposite Aotea Square and withing drooling distance of the Civic, Auckland Library and the Art Gallery, this treasure weaves its magic on an unassuming, daily basis. The selection of freshly baked goods available for purchase, is truly mesmerising. One can spend hiurs oohing and aahing over the contents of their display cabinet but, as the saying goes - the proofbis in the pudding. Do not come here for a coffee and a slice - come here for a celebration of visual creativity and taste sensations! Do so soon!

My favourite is their matcha tiramisu mouse cake and their mango mouse cake! Gave the praline mouse a try, also much loved! They are always trustworthy service for birthdays and events.

Nice coffee, good service, but the cake was dry as a mud cake should be rich in chocolate but nahh, also the outdoor area wasn't clean a bit dusty

Cakes taste amazing, good variety to choose from and everything I tried tasted great. My absolute favorite is mango mousse, if you like fruity sweet and sour desserts. Never experienced bad customer service btw.

Wide variety in cakes definitely great for the soul not so much for my hips I guess I’ll have to go the gym more this week! Easy to pick up and take to a family outing with no stress! 😄 A little on the expensive side but haven’t been disappointed yet. I suggest the Tiramisu slice!

We loved the selection of full cakes and individual portions on offer. Everything we got tasted amazing. No obvious gluten free options, although I assume the macarons are gf. Reasonable prices.

Great cakes with fresh cream! The outdoor seating area at the back could use more plants and heating and I'd happily have my regular coffee there.

One of my favorite dessert place in Auckland. They always have excellent presentation of tasty and beautiful sweets. I especially love their Mont Blanc which is really my love because of its crispy pastry, smooth cream and chestnut filling. But I would not recommend mocha cake since it's really average.

I would like to give 1 Star because of the mistake which thier online team did with my cake. Yesterday 1st July was my wife's birthday and I ordered the cake on 29th June by asking them that, if they can deliver it on 1st july and they agreed. Thank you for that. Pick up time was 2-3 but I got caught up with something and asked them if I can come to pick up around 5pm and they agreed. I came to the store, I asked them about the cake and they said no came cake. I was really shocked that what really happened. They apologised as well but thier can't bring that cake back which I really wanted for the birthday. Anyways, the 2 staff in the store one of them called thier manager regarding the issue and I was told that they don't have the cake. So, I called the online team to ask what happened, I found out that it was thier mistake because my order didn't showed on thier system when they already got the confirmation of my payment which is very weired when I got to know. So, they offered me 2 cakes standard size which I was happy to accept because I can't go empty handed. Thats why I have given 5 stars for that. I want to say big thanks to the 2 staffs at the store which helped me out and to the online team as well. Mistakes happen, it's okey in the end everything went in a right direction. Hopefully in future this will not happen.

Gateau House Queen Street has a nice ambiance for a get together with friends and they have excellent coffee. The little slices are a great nibble as well, I would recommend the tiramisu slice. I also ordered their green tea chiffon cake and my family enjoyed them. I would definitely come back for the cakes and the lovely customer service

Hello. Please give our thanks to the Manager and others for the wonderful service when purchasing our cursive personalised cake! We had an amazing experience. The place was so comfortable, the cakes at The Gateau House were absolutely spectacular (we ate two slices of cake there too!). The barista was just wonderful. Looking forward to ordering with you in the future. What a great place! All the amazing reviews that I have read about this cakery are true. The friendliness of the staff seems genuine. I have never seen such good customer service as I experienced at The Gateau House!!

As a professional cake taste tester, this has to be in my Mt Rushmore of cake places, the cakes are simply outstanding and fantastic. The service is high quality and the employees are excellent. Mere words cannot describe my love towards Gateau House.

I've been ordering cakes and getting slices and other treats from them for years. The staff are always lovely and friendly and the cakes are always yummy. 😊

Well presented desserts all displayed in well lit cabinets, they have cakes that cater to all taste. The staff were super friendly making for an enjoyable experience. Also make fab coffee's! Well worth visiting and would recommend

I'm giving this place 5 stars because I like desserts here and I like the variety, the only thing I wish they improved is customer service. Sometimes I'm standing and waiting and no one is paying attention. I understand that you are busy serving other clients but you can always say something like "hi, please give me a moment, or I'll be with you shortly. I only order take aways here, as I live nearby.

bought a couple of cakes from here and I must say that the Black Forest Cake is by far the best one! Love how it's covered in shredded chocolate pieces and buried under it is a really soft sponge, really enjoy every time I get it.

Bought their mango mousse cake and it was slightly disappointing. But maybe their other cakes and desserts will be better

I'm a regular customer of this store for 5 years and base on my observation, all your staff are very friendly and welcoming, they are all confident and has great knowledge on their products 👏👏👏

I have bought my wife birthday cakes from many different places and she never likes what I get her. Although if you question my wife she probably claim I rarely have ever bought her a cake lol . Then my boss told me about this place and it was reasonably priced very fresh wonderful choices. . Needless to say it went off like a treat with my wife and I will use it for all my family birthdays now . Thanks Scott Bizaoui

This is a review for Gateau House mobile version website. Me and my siblings are trying to decide for a fancy cake for my mums 60th. We all agreed that Gateau House is a good cake to get but after a couple minutes on your website we just decided to go to Miann. Your website is full of pop ups and advertisements it felt like Im trying to navigate through a website that pirates recently released movies. Please fix!!! UPDATE: Thanks for the quick response, I trust that you guys will have the website sorted. I changed my review to 5☆

Had a enjoyable experience- cakes were perfect for the occasion and very good customer service. I noticed that there were some disgruntled customers - for reasons I am unsure of, but the staff handled them proffesionaly, and I commend them for their patience

This place produce simply next level of desserts and cakes you have never witnessed in NZ before. Could work on Quality of coffee but happy to provide them 5 star.

. (09/2017) Well located on Queen Street near Civic. Wide range of cakes. Orders have to be placed in advance for eggless varieties. Beautiful ambiance. Helpful staff. Normally busy. Good for quick visits.
