Reviews of The Pie Piper
J.
TL:DR - Pie Piper is absolutely amazing, even when things don't always go to plan.
Story time, fam.
I have been a long-time fanatic of ALL of the Pie Piper's offerings: their chicken and waffles (and American-style biscuits) speak to my Southern Soul food spirit. I was gifted a rainbow birthday cake this year, and their pies completed my Thanksgiving feast last year ( If I love you, I'm probably gonna gift you a pie or doughnut).
Consistently amazing food and service, so I sought to recreate last year's memories and make the best out of lockdown during Thanksgiving.
Ordered their pies and other specials, so was expecting 2 pies and a (surprise secret) mini pie for partner.
Driving from West Auckland to Eastridge, awaiting me was a beautifully wrapped trio of boxes, tied with signature red ribbon.
Upon return, I was reminded I had ordered extra pastries (because, of course!) and so...1 pie, 1 mini pie, 1 box of pastries. Missing a pie. My own dumb fault for not checking/ and forgetting I ordered other stuff. Panic ensues because my partner is unable to drive out again from home. I would be stuck at home all day the following day solo-ing the entire Thanksgiving feast...everyone also working from home.
I rung, and A ngel (I think?) helped me sort everything, from talking with her managers (after hours, too!), and then confirming with me that they would correct the error and get my pie out to me the very next day.
They saved my Thanksgiving. For their superlative products and customer service, they have a life-long promoter in me and my family.

the modern day K Toad vibe mixed with American pies and cuisine. The pies look incredible and the donuts and baking looks divine.
We ordered a mixture of pastries and coffees as it was too early for sweet decadence.
The coffee making was not speedy.
The service was friendly.
There were a couple of Uber eats orders going out.
I can report the food was fine, fresh and delicious.
The reason I made it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the restaurant seating was not ideal, it was noisy as they are baking there. The music also didn’t suit the theme of the place.

Such delicious doughnuts and so happy to have such a wide selection of vegan options. Bought some as a birthday present for a friend and had to get some for us too. The blueberry crumble flavour was delicious 😋

Great pies, donuts, cakes, and rolls. Their Babkas are phenomenal and a must try, whether it's the cinnamon or the chocolate. Staff members are friendly, communicative, and immensely helpful. You can shop in person, or order online.

Pie Piper has great pies. I had a cherry pie for breakfast at my place, because I got it for takeout. Anyway, when I ate the cherry pie, it was very good. Pastry was soft yet flaky, which is what pastry should be. So they nailed the pastry. Furthermore, the cherry filling was divine. It had a good balance of sweet and sour which is what cherry in desert should normally taste like. I found that the sour aspect of the cherries had toned the sweetness which is good; I am not fond of deserts that are way too sweet. So the sourness of the cherries had saved the day.
Yet normally, cherry pie is meant to be sweet and sour, so Pie Piper nails it there. Otherwise, if anyone is looking for places with American pies to eat, since there are not that many in New Zealand, go there as well as the Federal Deli. The nice thing about Pie Piper is that you can get American pies like cherry pie for example for takeaway, without having to sit at the Federal Deli with crowds people just to get their desert pies and wait for good food to enjoy. However, Federal Deli and Pie Piper are both good places to eat food.
However, I have one con to share. When I waited about 2 minutes to get a slice or two of cherry pie at the counter, I saw one of the employees from Pie Piper cutting out slices of pie. But when it came to the second slice, I saw that she had a cherry pie container with one slice left, and she chucked that slice in the bin. I said to myself, "What?!". Couldn't tell if the pie was off, or if it was a strange attempt of seeking perfection. Anyway, after she absurdly chucked that slice in the bin, she got another container with a whole cherry pie, sliced a piece, and had used that as the second slice. So I thought that was strange.
Other than that, Pie Piper has great desert pies to die for, and proves that New Zealand over the course of time has expanded their variety in cuisines; that proves that New Zealand is a country filled with cultural diversity it makes me proud to live here.
So here is my rating: 4/5

For everyone with a sweet tooth! Lovely pies and cakes and doughnuts of all descriptions. Served by friendly staff and with tons of options to choose. Some say these are the best (sweet) pies in the city. The cheesecake is brilliant too.
Beware the sugar induced comma! ;)

Best place to quench your sweet tooth!!!
Unbelievably delicious pies, perfect doughnuts, and particularly tasty cinnamon rolls.
Staff is polite and welcoming. You feel as if you were in your granny’s. Love it!
You can get pies for events and you won’t be disappointed. They will be the success of the party.
The place is small, but there is a great feel to it.
The coffee if free refill, just like in America.

I ordered in person on a weekday at midday, there was only one other customer and we were both waiting on the MacnCheese(because everyone raves about it). The lady told both of us 5 minutes wait for the food. 30 minutes later she hands Mac n cheese to the other girl and I wait an additional ten minutes for mine- so all up a 40 minute wait. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. There was more mozzarella than pasta in the pot and the sauce itself was watery. I really don’t know why it took 35 minutes to make it, even making it from scratch shouldn’t take that long and I could see they kept putting it in and out of the Microwave so it wasn’t as if it was being heated on a stovetop. The saving grace was the vanilla donut which had a really nice frosting on it, and the lady at the counter was friendly. I wouldn’t write off going again but for my first time it was a really disappointing experience.
