Incredibly lovely staff, huge plate of delicious food and a great atmosphere right round the corner from the iconic beach!

The pie I had here was one of the best pies I have ever had in New Zealand. The steak and cheese pie had an awesome volume of steak in it, but not enough to seem like too much.

We recently stopped in Hokitika during our drive between Franz Josef and Arthur's Pass and had a good, quick breakfast at the Stone Oven Bakery. During our visit, we found their Peppered Steak and Steak & Mushroom pies to be pretty good. Crust was flaky, filling included plenty of good chunks of meat, not too much gravy. They were both nice pies. Coffee served was bold and flavourful as well. Overall, this was a good morning stop for coffee & pies. We'd happily stop here again if stopping by Hokitika again in the future.

These guys make excellent coffee. I feel qualified to make this judgement by dint of being an ex-Wellingtonian - NZ’s bastion of coffee excellence (at least, until NZ as a whole raised its bar quite high!) Do yourself a favour: ask a flat white in a tulip cup, the way <insert your god here> intended, and sit at an outside table in the morning sun watching Hoki life go by. Bliss.

Passed this place the evening before and decided to go for breakfast the following day. Great decision! We went for bacon pancakes with added banana - nicely cooked bacon, fluffy pancake stack and proper maple syrup. Decent sized portion. Coffee is good too. They also have some really nice looking pies but we were too full to try those too. Cafe is nicely presented with comfy booths and some funky wall art. Recommend 👍

Nice coffee and milkshakes. We enjoyed our bacon and eggs. The eggs were poached to perfection with a generous serving of bacon. Highly recommend the cream donuts, best we have tried. Friendly service. Well worth a visit.

The fresh cream donuts are the best I have had. A perfect balance of crunchy outside and chewy inside, with a generous helping of both jam and cream. The pies are also very good.

Popular cafe & bakery We stopped here for lunch and had a very good beef and bacon burger but so it should be at $18. The staff were really nice and allowed us to swap out the chips for salad but we thought the salad was a little bit old. The apple turnovers and the oaty ginger crunch were excellent.

Ok the chef here knows his stuff. This is not ordinary food. Muslie was best I have ever had and the veggie breakfast with beans was packed with flavour. Coffee 10 outta 10.
