My wife and I are so grateful for this place! On our way back home (USA) our flight got cancelled. We booked a last minute booking at the Laurel Bank House. The host was SO wonderful! The experience was amazing, the rooms were amazing and the place has so much character and uniqueness! Please stay here if your in Queenstown!!

Lovely cosy place to stay, in a beautiful setting. Handy for Queenstown and Arrowtown, but away from the hustle and bustle. Very helpful host. Good location for getting on Queenstown walking and cycle trails..

Beautiful surroundings. Pets. Host quick to give refund when it was clear things weren’t working out..

Rooms tiny. Bathroom insecure, curtains see through. Bathroom shared between multiple rooms, 5-10 people. Lots of corridor and neighbouring bedroom noise. There’s shabby chic and then there’s just shabby..

I have enjoyed several visits to Laurel Bank House staying in the Carole-Anne Room. I have always had great service. The bedroom is warm with a nice cosy bed and the unique bathroom has a lovely shower. I will continue to enjoy watching the progress as this grand old historical homestead gets nearer completion.

We have now stayed twice with Sheena & Steve, and the lovely fur-children. First was with our 11 year old son - he loved interacting with the dogs, jumping on the trampoline and checking out the rabbits.
The second time was an adults only weekend - despite terrible weather which caused a power outage for a number of hours, we still enjoyed ourselves. Steve even offered to bring us food back from an excursion into Frankton to save us the trip.
This is a great place to stay - the facilities are lovely, we've always been made to feel welcome, and the setting is idyllic.

Staying with Steve and Sheena in their beautiful restored homestead was an absolute treat - it is the picture-perfect setting for a relaxing getaway as well as a great base for getting out and about in the great outdoors.
Sheena and Steve make for great company, full of stories and information about the Queenstown area and always willing to help out where they can. The fur kids, Pinot, Merlot, Gibbston and Stormy the cat are just beautiful, the friendliest dogs and smoochiest cat you ever will meet! I loved my stay there and highly recommend it.

We have enjoyed the Overton Suite. It has been cosy for our weeks skiing, with a lovely comfortable bed and wonderful views of the mountains. We love your authentic rustic decor, it's perfect for Laurel Bank. See you again next year.

The host of this B & B was very discriminatory in her greeting of me. As soon as I arrived it was a cold, unhappy reception of me. She said I wasn't suppose to check in until 2, but "well, you're here now" and inquired if I read the sign and told me to 'go around back to get my key'. I was roaming around looking for where to go instead of her giving me proper service and hospitality. She was not nice or friendly towards me at all! The cat gave me more of a greeting and let me pet him, she basically was offended I was there and closed the door on me. I never even was able to get her name or an introduction from her. Later, I asked if there was a wifi code, and it upset her and she said again, "dont you read the sign?". I explained I didnt see it and later found it to be on the side of a cabinet so how would I? I then spoke up in regards to the service I was receiving, or lack there of, and she said i could find me another place to stay. I told her I had already paid in full which is why I hadn't left because I can tell she doesnt want me there. She argued that I hadn't paid and quickly called the booking company. Once she learned I had paid in full and she was wrong, she arranged for me a full refund. I thankfully was able to find immediate and much better lodging somewhere else as I am traveling alone and out the country! What a horrible situation it was for me. I am thankful I was able to get my money back, but if you are not white, please know your stay is not wanted here; and if you are white and care about the treatment and fairness of others please dont stay here either. This is how you can stop the unfair treatment of another even when it may not directly impact you. I will add that other guest arrived and she was warm and friendly to them, gave them a tour, and the proper service one would expect when a guest. This was nothing else but racial discrimination and I must accept it as such. She even told me she didn't "like my kind" (yes that is a quote!), and I have no right to talk to her other guests (we are free now ma'am, I can talk to whomever I like) and then inquired if I travel a lot as if to understand how I was able to come here. I told her it is irrelevant to my experience today, but yes, I travel often. I have been to Thailand, Spain, Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Dubai, Australia, Morocco and countless other places and never experienced the horrible treatment and service I experienced today. It is a scenic and old charming home, but the host has a slave plantation mentality and it is very isolated. If you saw the movie "Get Out", that is exactly what you should do. I wouldn't recommend my beloved puppy to stay here, let alone another human being. I saw high reviews before booking, but I am sure they do not come from diverse ethnic groups, more than likely, all white. Best to stay in a legitimate hotel closer to the center. 1 star because I had to leave one. If I had to sum up my experience in one word: RACIST.

I spent a relaxing few days at Laurel Bank over Anzac Weekend. Laurel Bank is located between Queenstown and Arrowtown in a lovely setting with views to Coronet Peak and the Remarkables, made all the more beautiful by the stunning autumn colours at this time of year. The Carole Anne room was cosy and warm and the bed beautifully comfortable. Sheena and Steve are fabulous, welcoming hosts with great suggestions of things to see and do and restaurants in the area. Their gorgeous goldies, Pinot, Merlot and Gibbston provide an enthusiastic welcome and Stormy the cat is a sweetie. Thanks Sheena and Steve, I'm looking forward to my next visit to Laurel Bank.

Just spent the Easter break at Laurel Bank recharging and it was perfect. Under the lee of the Remarkables nestled in the Shotover basin with Walter Peak and Cecil Peak in plane view from the top lawn Laurel Bank was the ideal spot to wander the grounds with stunning views in every direction, or to sit on a deck soaking up the sun and the birdsong while sipping an early morning coffee. Inside, my room was self-contained, comfortable, elegant and quiet with ensuite and a bath to soak a tired body. Queenstown and Arrowtown colours were deepening daily and the air and the light was just what this traveller needed to drink in and revive. Sheena and Steve have created an oasis of old world calm in a wonderfully charming grand old lady.
