I usually prefer to book in advance so I don't need to wait for space to be available. I definitely recommend booking in advance.
Whenever I go in I always get such a great haircut and if I want something changed the hair stylist is happy to do some of the changes. They steer me away from truly terrible haircut ideas and I'm always grateful for the input!

N.This is a great barber. Full of friendly staff & talented barbers. As with most barbers in Auckland central they get very busy so be prepared to wait if you are doing a walk-in. They do have a booking service though which is amazing. Just access it through their website.

G.Amazing bunch of barbers, especially my man Sean! I have been going to him way before he joined Tokoya team. He's the best in Auckland, hands down. You tell him what you want and you get it bang on! He takes his time and perfects it and makes sure the moment you walk out of that shop you look fresh and sharp!
I live in Melbourne now, and I haven't found a single decent barber yet. Came home (NZ) for holidays and the first thing I did after I landed was go see Sean and get a fresh cut. Highly highly recommended !!!! Never a bad cut, all these years.
S.I'd just like to thank both Lucas and lynette as well as the owner and management for the fantastic service I received at Tokoya. I've spent the last 18 months looking for a new regular place to get my cut and at long last I've found the place. The fit out is top notch and the ambience is warm. The level of professionalism is immediately evident and I don't think you could go wrong here regardless of which barber you have on the day. My takeaway experience was that Lucas isn't just a great barber but someone who's dedicated to a craft. He was able to help me establish what I wanted out of my cut, offered me some great advice and delivered on it. Your work is much appreciated, consider me a new regular.

I.I really like this place. I drive from Manukau to come see Shogo. I like how professional the place is; no loud music and the hairdressers don't keep asking you personal questions to try and make small talk. When you making a booking and show up, the barber is ready for you so no more long waits. I can see myself coming here for a long time to come.
V.First time visit at this place and got stuck with Caleb. Not complaining. He is the man. He's got knowledge, great communication & mean skills. Everyone was friendly as inside - the place needs to get featured more.
D.Best barber this side of the bridge. Lucas is absolutely the best on his mad beard skills. It's also nice to be always greeted with a smile when you walk through the door. The owner and management at this place really do know their stuff. And you really can't go wrong with any of the barbers here. Really hard to pick favourites.

K.Very professional. A busy place on weekends, but the name list goes fast and they had every chair full.
Thoughtful detail put into the space too. The place is wired with air compressor hoses and each station has a nozzle to blow off the bits of cut hair.
I’m always nervous about getting my hair cut by a stranger, especially while travelling. But the barber was helpful and understanding. Ended up with a clean and good looking cut, despite doing a bad job of explaining what I want.
