M.I Googled Best Beard Trim in Christchurch when I was on the bus, traveling to Christchurch from Dunedin. Chris Terry New City Barbers came up and I was (fortunately) able to get an appointment when I virtually got off the bus. Walking distance to the shop. Great choice, Chris did an awesome job of my (mainly)moustache and beard. I get very nervous about anyone touching my beard however, Chris made me feel completely comfortable and did exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations!! Between him and Dwayne here at Lone Wolf Barbers in Dunedin, I have two awesome options. I may have to make a special trip to Christchurch to see Chris and the team, and great value for money also. 💰 🤑 😇🥰🐻
C.Learned of these barbers from a friend's recommendation in 2019 and glad I did.
I've always found the staff to be easy going, yet professional, and knowledgeable. I've always left with the cut I was after, mainly because when asked "How does that look?" I'll tell them so rather than not, and the staff aren't phased at all if I ask for a reasonable alteration.
Staff have always made the effort to learn a little about me, and how I want my hair to be styled before reaching for scissors/clippers. It's appreciated when staff share knowledge of different products and what makes them suitable for a certain look, without trying any hard up sell.
The off street parking right in front of their doors is fantastic, especially with the various works going on in the city.
I enjoy being able to make quick and simple bookings online, instead of the familiar "turn up and hope you don't find a massive queue" at other places. I find those queues to be a real waste of time and would explain why I felt cuts were rushed at other places.

D.I’ve been to New City Barbers on at least 4 occasions and despite being served by different staff members, I’ve been really happy every time. Most recently was Mac, his work saved my marriage and my wife now finds me attractive again. Great guys who do an excellent job. Would highly recommend.

C.I'd been struggling to find a barber that would cut and style my hair to suit me for a while. I always left feeling a little dissatisfied with my cuts. I had heard good things about this place, so decided to give it a go.
I was fortunate enough to have Mac as my barber. He listened to what I was looking for, provided some of his own opinions on what could work, then spent a good 30 meticulously doing his work. I could tell by his concentration and attention to detail that he puts a lot of pride and passion into his work.
I am very pleased with the results, and will definitely be visiting this place for any future cuts.

T.Have had trouble with my hair as it is pretty thick and quite unruly. However this was not an issue for the barber at NCB who recommended I try something different than my usual clipper cut. He then proceeded to fix me up with, quite comfortably, the best haircut I’ve ever received. Stoked as, will be coming back.
N.First rate and worth the search. Careful and considered cut and beard trim by a personable and professional lady. Tip: Go through the Retro style clothing shop to access; that’s a treat too!
T.I needed a beard trim at short notice and they were able to accommodate. Service was great - Zac in particular was amazing - he gave some great tips on how to maintain a short beard. Price was very reasonable too. Will definitely come back.

He was on time, friendly, and most importantly gave an absolutely beautiful cut. I cannot recommend New City Barbers or Mac enough. 11/10

R.Chris & team make a nice work. Just moved in Christchurch and I was looking for a barber for my curly hair. Chris have cut my hair perfectly. I will keep going. For new customers: It's easier to arrive for Lichfield Street.
V.Was afraid that there are no good barbers in Christchurch but these guys definitely changed my mind. Unfortunately I didn't ask the name of that man in glasses who worked on my hair, he was extremely professional. I told him the exact parameters I was waiting from my haircut but he gave me a nice consultation and convinced me that I don't want it. I'm happy with them, it's pity that I got just about 40% of his speech :)
Also they are quite busy, it makes me feel the high demand of them and a small frustration of waiting.
B.Fantastic place to get freshened up. Even with the booking system I still like to get there early just to chill and take in the feel of what an old style barber shop was like. And on booking, make sure you do, because they are always busy with from what I can tell are very happy customers. Cheers guys keep up the good work.
L.Really great, personally I belive new city barbers is the best barber in Christchurch. Every hair cut and beard tim I have gotten has been perfect, the smallest details are clipped and trimmed with the barber offering sound advice and feedback or questions throughout the trim.

J.Super clean shop, decor is dope, music is super chill, good vibes only from this place. The boys here know what they're doing and take time on your head with extreme focus on the smallest of details. I come from Canada and get my hair cut by someone who competes nationally for men's cuts and these boys are the real deal here in nz! Don't waste your time getting your hair cut somewhere else!
M.It’s hard these days to find a barber who’s quality and consistency remains the same throughout. I’ve been coming here now for the last two years and enjoy the fact that I know what I am going to get. Chris and the boys do a great job and his training of the boys means that no matter who you get, you’ll come out looking sharp.
J.Can't speak highly enough of this establishment, these guys work tirelessly to achieve for want of a better word a perfect harmony of banter and barbering.
Not only this but they are a shining example of how business should operate.
I approached Chris in regards to the possibility of a cut for 2 of my friends and myself for the 'shave for a cure' charity beard/hair off in march, not only was he and his team courteous enough to open an hour early to fit in with our work schedules he provided all the cuts for free and not once was interested in publicity for his business. A stalwart human I'm sure you'll agree.
Yes the inside oozes cool, yes the staff are friendly, and yes they do the best cuts in chch but it's the amalgamation of all these things and the character that they will never lose that is why I will never go anywhere else.
People drone on about the wait time? Well good things come to those who wait gentleman so let the hellrazors roll out their craft, maybe play some darts, have a yarn, or pity the fools who didn't hang out for a trim. This place is the source...

I.Not a bad place to go for a cut, the unique shop is great to look at. Barber's dont talk too much however, they get the job done. Prices are a bit expensive but you can either pay for it or go somewhere else?

M.There's some parking for the shop if you enter from Tuam Street. The shop had 4 young barber's. I only came to do my mustach and goat tee for low maintenance trimming as I keep them tiedy. The pace is a bit slow took 30 to 45 mints to wait and trim the head sides and fix the facial hair. The outcome was OK compared to the time spend could been better.
My suggestion to have one chair with your fastest Barber that can do express cuts for small jobs.

a.It's a quality haircut. They are few and far between in this city. You do have to book which is annoying for me. But hey when the choices are going for a cut in a mall where they just want volume and leave your head like it got cought in a lawnmower it's a small price to pay
