First time client here and wow! Really enjoyed my cut with Wei. He was super friendly, took time to understand what I really wanted from a cut, and made sure to keep me in the loop. Shout out to the lovely front of house team for being super welcoming too.

I am usually very hesitant to get my hair cut from anyone other than my normal hairdresser, but decided to bite the bullet as my hair was out of control and I wasn't heading back to my hometown for a while. I visited Buoy for a wash, treatment, cut and style. Firstly, when explaining what I wanted, there was some hesitancy and judgement to cut my hair the style I like it (blunt cut, and have had it cut like this for the past 1.5 years). The treatment didn't feel like it did much to moisturise my hair and was only left in for maybe 5 mins max. The cut was the most disappointing part. I wasn't asked whether I was happy with the cut at the end, as I would usually expect after a cut, and when I asked if we could take more out I was told no (knowing there was absolutely more that could come out). I left the salon with a lot of bulk still and my hair longer than I had asked for. Now for why this is a 4 star review. Once I had decided I was going to return to have the cut fixed, I called the salon to advise I wasn't happy with the results. Eddie's service was phenomenal. There were no questions asked about why I was unhappy with the cut and finding a time for the fix up was seamless. When returning to the salon, Eddie was thankful that I had returned and so friendly and kind. I was looked after by Andrew for my cut and have absolutely no complaints. Fantastic service, amazing abilities and importantly, ensured I was happy with the cut before leaving. What really impressed me with Andrew's service was that at the end, Andrew walked me to the door which almost sheltered me from the stylist that originally cut my hair. Whether this was intentional or not, I thought this was quite thoughtful service to ensure the customer feels safe. I understand that it is hard to have your hair cut by someone one time and be happy with it, as it takes time to develop the relationship. To me, the mark of a good salon is how they recover from disappointment. Very impressed with the recovery and if I moved to Wellington, they would be my regular. Would absolutely go back here!

Andrew not only gave me a great haircut, but was one of the most delightful humans I have come across in a long time. He was professional, gave me really good advice about how my hair should be cut and was lovely to talk to. 10/10

It was my first time getting my hair coloured. I was so nervous but Courtney was so helpful and friendly throughout the entire process. Really loved it and would highly recommend this place. Thanks guys

I usually wait a few days before I decide whether I'm totally thrilled with a haircut, or resign myself to waiting for it to grow out. So this review is about my very first visit to Buoy a few weeks ago on the recommendation of a friend. So let's start from the beginning - when you call to make an appointment and even upon arrival you're greeted by the friendliest front desk attendant Eddie. Let me just say he's a darling! And if you're a first timer like me you're kind of left wondering if you've stepped into the backstage of a glamorous fashion shoot. The layout and the atmosphere is so light and vibrant and so clean! Possibly my favourite thing is that Andrew, my stylist, was perfectly punctual. The time at the basin left me feeling like I should make an appointment just to get my hair washed - they have luxurious massage chairs in addition to the soothing head massage you receive as part of the process. And then let me talk about the amazing Andrew. I explained what I wanted, he Listened!! And what I have now is a sleek but edgy long pixie cut that transformed my look from a plain bob that faded into the background to getting compliments from absolutely everyone! Thank you Andrew and Eddie! Can't wait to visit again and maybe experiment with some colour change.

So I botched my own hair with box dye (surprise surprise) and ended up with yellow hair, buoy oh boy hehe.. I came in for a free consultation before booking a toning session in with Courtney. Courtney was amazing and super professional, I don’t know how she did it but she completely got rid of the yellow - would highly recommend!!

I can't praise Katie and Ronica enough. My experience yesterday left me with a post-salon GLOW that I hadn't felt in years. Katie colour corrected a very average head of foils (done elsewhere, obvi) with ease, total professionalism, and an energy that made me feel like I was in the best hands ever. Ronica gave me the dreamiest basin experience and styled my hair to absolute perfection. Thanks for making me feel like a million bucks, Buoy : )

The BEST Salon and Spa in Wellington. And Joel is an expert in colour and the best stylist I've ever had. The salon has an awesome vibe with all the staff so friendly and helpful. I'd recommend Skye for blow waving into fabulous style.

Absolutely fabulous experience from beginning to end. Very friendly, excellent job on my color and cut and most importantly had me in and out very swiftly! I’ve tried and been underwhelmed by several salons around town but this will be my salon from now on!

Great service, alway leave happy with my haircut

The warm and friendly professionalism from the top to the apprentices. As soon as you step into the salon, Eddie and the team are ready to take your coat and bag. Your tea preference is established and you are taken to the seating area. So starts your experience. All of the team perform sublime head massages, while washing and conditioning your hair. My most recent was administered by Sophie. Combined with the massage chair, you find yourself totally relaxed before the cutting and styling begins. This salon lives up to the many awards it has won, and more.

Love Buoy Salon! Eilish is fantastic hair stylist.. I have seen her so many times for a wash/blow-wave/colour! she is consistently good & i always come away with fabulous/shiny/healthy happy hair.

I have embarked on the great laser hair removal! With Ashlea in the Spa. Two sessions in and ready to carry on after Ashlea's expertise, professionalism and care has erased all my apprehension. I have also had a wonderful fusion facial and am enjoying using Ultraceuticals at home. Plus I am now third haircut/style in with Daniel. Once again I'll use the words expertise, professionalism and care. A wonderful communicator with magic ability. Very happy. Highly recommend both 🙆‍♀️

Buoy is so lush and a beautiful salon, you feel like you're part of high society. The staff are all very friendly, Andrew and Jason in particular are amazing. So happy with my hair cut and colour, will definitely be back.

Loved my haircut and styling by Jolene, she was really professional and instilled a sense of confidence in me as soon as we starting talking about what I wanted. I am rarely happy with my haircuts, but I am over the moon with this one and will definitely be going back.

From the beautiful kind man on the phone to the lovely laura who looked after me from the moment i stepped inside. After a rough week at work, this lovely lady made me feel so special and cared for. She really listened to my needs and had me fill out a questionaire to make sure what she used on my skin was tailored to me. I left with my skin feeling amazing and my stress lifted. Thank you Laura for being so kind and caring 🌹 You made my week 🌼

Beverly did a fabulous job with my cut. We talked about what I like, what works with my face and my hair texture. Very happy with the cut, it's easy to fix myself and looks great.

Excellent service , great conversation, they fitted two of on for a wee glam up before WOW.. two days later i contacted the lovely Eddie as I had left something behind . No problems was posted to AKL and I had it the next day.... Great work team .. thanks Lisa
