Make this place your go-to. Well staffed with passionate and knowledgeable cycling enthusiasts, both in the front and workshop. Helped me out big time when I was stuck half-way through a diy job - it must have been a nuisance for them but they never showed it. There’s an air pump out the front free for the community. Maybe you can save 5 or 10% buying stuff from a bargain store but (as in our case) it won’t come with the right advice and will cost double in the long run.

I moved to St Heliers and used these guys for the first time. Dave took the trouble to call me and explain what my old bike needed. Work carried out is first class and nice local personal service. My mountain bike goes like new and I’m delighted with my decision to go local and use MEC. If you like your bike go to these guys. Thanks very much.

Lovely experience here. Even though it was a small job Roger made it not seem like that. Very attentive. When I’m going to upgrade to a new bike I’ll be coming back here.

Having recently returned to NZ & not wishing to purchase a car I was looking into an eBike, having done my homework & decided what I would like I contacted MEC Bikes who were able to help answer my immediate questions about a demo & availability, then I visited their St. Heliers shop for a test ride & answer just a few more questions I had. Before I even left the shop for my quick test ride they made sure the bike was all up to date & ready to go (checked the firmware, made sure the electrics were working, tyres etc…), whilst I waited there was a constant stream of people popping in, some for accessories, some to get something checked on their bike or to drop a bike in for service, the staff chatted with each, were incredibly friendly & made all feel like more than just another faceless customer. After deciding to buy the eBike & before I left the shop Emma made sure I downloaded the Specialized Mission Control App to give me a walk through & help me set it up too, all in all it was a great experience from start to finish. So based on my experience at MEC St. Heliers I would definitely recommend MEC Bikes (Mt. Eden & St. Heliers) to anyone looking for a new Specialized bike in particular, a shop to service your bicycle or to pick up accessories.

A great bike shop. You can be sure you are getting honest advice on bikes and accessories without feeling like they are just there to sell you stuff. I am new to road biking and definitely feel like I can trust the advice being given. They also organise lots of group rides and training camps and encourage people of all abilities to attend. I would not buy my bike anywhere else

I have a Mi 365 scooter with a puncture... I could get so far but had no chance of getting a new tyre right over the rim ...took it down to Hot Cycles. Will and the team were great, used there skills and strength, I’m back on the road!

These guys are legends. Helped me fix my bike last minute when I broke a chainring before coast to coast. Great service and knowledgeable mechanics

Have just purchased two E MTBikes for my wife and I. Excellent service and support from Will and the Team .bikes were delayed and getting use of a demo bike was no problem .highly recommend .

Good range and helpful staff but the hours are a bit inconvenient and they don't have a full range of some products. More a sport cycling shop than commuters.
