I love taking my road bike to Back Alley Bikes. Rufus and his team are super friendly, really thorough, and my bike always feels 100% after getting it serviced here. Well worth the wait when you have to book in advance.

If there's a place in Christchurch to get your dream bike built this is it. I've been back in there a number of times after buying my bike for upgrades, repairs, servicing and have found them really good to deal with. In a number of situations Rufus and the boys have gone well and truly above expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing servicing or a new bike. Cheers

I've been hunting for replacement jockey and idler pulleys for a very elderly Shimano Altus set. After finding out they're not made any more I finally decided to repair it myself and went into Back Alley Bikes for a bit of advice. I got that advice (intelligently structured for my particular situation), a tube of grease (for no charge) and a very genuine, "Great to be able to help!" I'm 75. This is the kind of help I found in my youth, but not so much in today's world. Thank you, Back Alley Bikes.

Top quality. They caught a substantial fault in my bike that could have ended up causing an accident and were great at talking me through my options. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Can't recommend highly enough.

Not hard to see why Back Alley Bikes has only 5 star reviews. Helpful and accommodating both over the phone and in person. They really helped me out of a bind today. I had ordered a tire from somewhere else but this hasn't arrived 2 weeks later, leaving me unable to use my bike for my daily commute. I took in my bike after 4pm and they had sorted a tire, new tube and replaced it before 5pm. What a relief. Very happy to return and recommend for anyone needing prompt, professional, reasonably priced and friendly service with their own bike.

There's a reason this shop only has excellent reviews. The owner Rufus is friendly, knowledgeable, and very experienced, especially when it comes to any kind of hydraulic servicing or wheel building. Rufus just built some wheels for me and did a great job. Highly recommended.

Top notch bike service and great guys in general. My bike rides like new again. Got the pro service for $95 which is a great price for the amount of work they do to your bike. If you're looking for a small independent local bike store instead of the big chain stores, these guys are great. Will definitely be back.

I don't know much about bikes, but i wanted to make sure my bike was in good condition. These guys happily talked me through what was needed, and booked my bike in. When I picked it up, they spent another 20 minutes giving me the advice I need to keep it maintain and working well. The ride home was exceptional. I'll be getting more work done, for sure. If you need work done on your bike, these guys are great! 12/10!!

Due to my immense power (or complete lack of maintenance and abuse) my hub gave up. I was expecting a huge bill, but the guys at Back Alley rebuilt it for me with no worries and only charged me for their time. Legends. Great advice about what trials to ride too. I love bike shops like this and I'm sad there's not more of them. Epic work Back Alley Bikes.

Just picked up my bike from having a Pro Service, basic fork and air can service. Very happy with the work, the price and the turnover time. Rufus is a dude too - he's more than happy to give advice.

I was looking for some slightly obscure bearings at the last minute. I tried 4 other places with no luck before calling here. These guys not only had them in stock but had them at the most competitive price. Pretty happy with that.

The owner changed my tyre with his bare hands - unbelievable. The staff were charming, the price was great value, and the coffee was gamey. Would give this a 6 star review if I could.

Awesome bike shop for a tune up or to get anything fixed. We were traveling from the US and needed our bikes tuned up from reassembling after the flight as well as fixing a few things. The service was fast, incredible and affordable. Thank you!

I rolled in with a punctured tube and needed a replacement to get home. They were quick to help set me up with a replacement, and everyone I met was friendly and cheerful. I was impressed not only by the cool, well-maintained store front, but also by how well organised the shop was!
