Purchased my 10th new racing bycycle since 1971 there ,it arrived when they said it would .the setup adjustments ect were precise and the general rundown and service explanations clear and concise. The parking and accessibility for the store are excellent .the stores staff are very professional and knowledgeable and helpful al up a good experience

My partner and I brought bikes from here recently and had the best experience. The staff were super helpful and patient, I think the guys name was Tom that we dealt with. He was really knowledgeable about products and gave good advice. He was happy to get bikes up and down for us to try as well. We did look at a few other places after going into the store but nothing compared to the service we received and obviously the best product for what we wanted. Bloody good effort guys 👌

I purchased a Specialized s works top of the line bike 6 months ago from these guys , I have experienced a number of issues with bike set up. I posted a fairly poor review but can say the response fro Darryn was very good. I have subsequently changed my view of Chain Reaction and can say they will stand behind any bikes they sell. Bought a new bike through Bobby. All arranged over the phone and email from Auckland. Flew to CHC and the bike was waiting for me exactly as arranged, set up was quick and expert and then on to Queenstown for a weekend of riding. Back to CHC where Matt was HUGELY helpful and boxed the bike up at short notice for the flight back to Auckland. Massive thanks to Matt for getting that done in a hurry on a busy day. 5 stars to Chainreaction all the way. Wish you guys had a shop in Auckland! Oh, and love the bike.

Excellent service! Another bike shop stripped my bolt for the seat and chain reaction fixed it free of charge. They also allow you to change the seats within 30 days of getting the bike. Really highly recommend them.

UPDATED REVIEW FOLLOWING RESPONSE FROM COMPANY: Not a good experience overall. Buying my expensive Specialized e-bike was a fairly satisfactory experience. I was told it would assist to 45km/h but when I took it home it was set-up for the EU specifications. I was told this was a mistake made by their supplier and the motor had to be sent off to be re-calibrated for the promised assistance up to 45km/hr and I was given a loaner. until mine was set up as promised. The main problems with this company have been in addressing subsequent problems and a repair request. The chain snapped after 5 weeks of normal use (I wasn't raising this as an issue in itself as I was aware the chain is vulnerable on these bikes). I use my bike for daily long distance commute. Despite this fault occurring with such a new bike I was happy to pay for repairs but was met with a strange and hostile response when I tired to arrange a timely repair being told the soonest they could fit me in for this (not at all time-consuming) repair was 1 week's time. I was a bit stressed about the costs this would result in arranging alternative transportation for the week and asked to speak with the manager to see if there was any way to get some flexibility on the time frames. It turns out I was speaking to the manager! He refused to offer any flexibility or suggest an alternative provider who might be able to offer a more timely repair. I subsequently worked out that there is one other Specialized approved repair and retail company in Christchurch but he brusquely said "I only work here and don't know about any other businesses". I was stressed but as I tried to explain my predicament he repeatedly interrupted me in an increasingly hostile and unfriendly manner t. It was all very strange to be honest. Some parts of this business are well run but this was a bad experience and it has really put me off using their services again. When I suggested the manager, to whom I was speaking, might take a more empathetic approach he repeatedly and angrily interrupted and then hung up on me (a first for me). I have sorted my bike elsewhere and that has gone fine. The company offered a partial apology in the email they sent to me after I posted the original review but didn't really acknowledge the issue about the rudeness or being hung up on. They did offer a free service (though a free service within one year came with the bike purchase anyway so this was just offering to fulfill a prepaid commitment really). (N.B. You may note I give very consistent 4 and 5 star reviews for the 100's of companies and services I have given feedback on Google. It is very unusual for me to leave an negative feedback but in this case I feel it is balanced, deserved and necessary. I hope it is taken as a constructive incentive and other are better served in future)

The team at Chain Reaction love what they do and it shows in the quality of both the work they do and the advice they give. I made a poor choice getting back into mountain biking not only did the team help me rectify this but they also gave me guidance on what I did and didn't need. Good honest advice from people that are passionate about a fantastic sport. I would recommend the team here to anyone and will enjoy catching up with them next time my bike needs a service.

Very happy with my first visit. Thanks. Staff were attentive without being intrusive-I enjoyed having a look round the store at my pace. I bought some new grips and asked if I needed to book in a check of my fork and shock pressures, which they quickly did. For anyone not having been there before, CR have a lot of gear that isn’t on the website so I’d definitely suggest giving them a call to see if they have what you’re after.... I bought a Hiplok DX from somewhere else recently, and saw they stock the brand. I’ll be back.

Looking at purchasing a bike for the TA didn't have the bike I needed in stock so have to wait, felt a bit like I was being sold a couple of other models that they did have, this said the salesperson was knowledgeable and friendly I will still be purchasing my bike through them. I have visited 5 bike shops in Chch and my experience in this shop was very good, even offered 'try before you buy' and interest free payments.

If I could give more stars I would. These guys went way over and above. I orders a set of MTB tyres on Wednesday as we came into Level 3 Lockdown. We emailed back and forth thru to Friday to get the sizing sorted. They were awesome. I asked for a Saturday delivery because it was for my son's birthday which was on Saturday. They said they couldn't. After I explained it was for my son's birthday, they HAND DELIVERED them to me in Lincoln, a satellite town of Chch. Again, they went way over and above to get the right tyres and hand deliver them. My boy was stoked - it was the only present we could get him apart from junk food and chocolate. He was stoked. Thanks Chain Reaction!

This is the best bike store in Christchurch. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have an awesome selection of gear & bikes. Darryn has excellent knowledge of anatomy and is able to find the best fit. I bought some shoes which didn't quite fit right and they exchanged them, no questions asked! I don't know any other shop that would have done this. A highly satisfying shopping experience.

I used to work at the Riccarton store before they moved here some time ago. New staff who never met me or knew my experience treated me well and had me onto the bits and pieces I wanted quickly. Gear from here is still going strong 10 years later so very happy. (you get what you pay for).
