H.Myself and three friends walked in today and the service was so so friendly and refreshing. We were given great advice on where to go and time was taken to fit us all correctly and comfortably with our bikes and helmets. We were also told it was okay if we ran a little over our 2 hour slot, as long as we got back before 5:00pm. I’d recommend this place to everyone! Such a cheap and cheerful way to spend a few hours.
T.After a mechanical with my own bike on day 1 of our week-long stay, I checked out Napier City Bike Hire for a 'replacement' so I could still explore the Hawkes Bay Trails as planned. Picked up one of their EBikes and couldn't have had better service or setup for a successful week of cycling.
The bike was great quality, reliable & comfortable to ride. Jan was helpful and friendly with a great knowledge of the trails and good guidance. Provided with everything needed for a day out cycling, lock, maps & handy carrier. Even dropped out a replacement bike when I snagged a puncture on a ride. Also handy location on Marine Parade to launch any cycling adventure, highly recommend!
J.Thank you for making our Napier holiday memorable. We hired a couple of e-bikes to head out to the wineries. The bikes were well set up and ran like a dream Absolutely brilliant!! Even when we were late back due to some wrong turns the guy was very understanding! 100% recommend this company.
B.Service above and beyond. Walked in off the street plenty of bikes ready to go and the process of getting on the road was quick and painless. Quality bikes took us the 16km around to the wineries. Very easy ride and beautiful as well. They loaded us up with maps, good advice and gear to get us their comfortably with time enough to go at our own slow pace. They had a shuttle bus to collect us from the winery a few hours later (which was perfect after some "tastings") and dropped us back at the door to the shop. All in all, top notch.

A.HAWKE'S BAY BIKE RIDE:
We booked our bikes online with Napier Bike Hires 2 days before our cruise stopped in Napier. Accessing the shop was easy since the Cruise Port offered a shuttle that stops right across the shop on Marine Parade rd.
As we checked in (they already had our bikes ready), they gave us bike helmets & bags, maps & instructions to get to the wineries. Very friendly & useful customer service! You can fill your water bottles there as well.
Most of the ride to the south wineries is on a coastal bike pathway so no need to deal with cars except on very few streets.
* PAY ATTENTION TO THE DEDICATED BIKE & PEDESTRIAN UNDERPASSES TO AVOID CROSSING THE HIGHWAYS! Follow the signs that point to CLIVE, then TE AWANGA, but you will find the wineries just before TE AWANGA town. Bring water & sunblock.
It is a 15 miles bike easy ride each way to Elephant Hill winery, the first of the three wineries nearby.
At Elephant Hill winery you will find an indoor restaurant and an outdoors wine testing bar. There is plenty indoor & outdoor seating to enjoy the views. Nice and friendly service, some small plates & snacks available as well.
Be aware that the ride back is harder since you have to push against the headwinds. If you are not an experienced cyclist you might want to upgrade to an E-bike. The coastal views are beautiful near the canals. Just follow the bike path.
Check-out was quick & easy. We had a very nice ride.

Courtesy call an hour before pick up to check where we were. Professional and courteous service - bike fitting to make sure you had right equipment. Highly recommended!!

A.We did the Great Cape trail, it was a great experience. The whole ride was pretty much flat so suitable for all fitness levels. We booked our bikes online and when we got there, the bikes were already adjusted according to our height and was ready to go. After about 10 mins of the ride, we had a flat tyre to one of our bikes. We called the number on the bike and the staff came with a new identical bike within 10 mins. So the service was great! We ended up having lunch at the end of the trail at the hygge cafe in Clifton. Was a great experience and a great day on the bike

P.Very efficient and friendly service. We hired an ebike and a standard bike for 4 hours for a pleasant ride up Marine Parade and then through the suburbs. The bikes were well maintained and in good working order. I would gladly use them again.
L.Great service, highly recommend hiring a bike from here. I had a flight delay and three spare hours so relished the change from work to cycling! Staff were super helpful with maps & suggestions. Prices were very reasonable. I hope to come back in a few months and explore more of the cycle trails in Hawkes Bay. My seat post slipped a few times but with some tightening it improved. I guess with so many people hiring bikes and adjusting seat height, that's likely to happen at any bike hire place.
M.Hired a bike on Saturday and went for a great ride to Bay View and back, about 25 km for the round trip. I haven't been on a bike for years, so was expecting a very sore posterior, but the bike was great with a very comfy seat. I had such a great ride I'm thinking of buying myself a bike....I'd love to know what bike 'Delores' is, as it was so comfy 😆 Next time I'm in napier I would love to do another ride, the staff are very friendly and helpful making suggestions too.
