Adrianne works pretty hard at his little bicycle store, and does what he can to get in stock that he might not have. Very pleasant and very informative about what is available out there. I bought a bike and the tyres kept exploding (L.O.L.) it's a genuine ladies bike I brought in Christchurch. But the quality is not as good as some bicycles put together. The inner rims of the wheel(s) have a sharp edge on them, so when the tyre expands for whatever reason the tube is compromised and BANG! Adrianne replaced the tube for me, and before I picked it up it had done the same thing again, so he fitted the wheel with a thicker tube and ever since I haven't had any problems. He is very reasonable with his charges too. Excellent to deal with.

Absolute legends!! Adrian from Habitat came to the rescue with some brake pads. Having finished the OGR and wearing out a set of pads, he got a set of SRAM pads on a courier and over to Karamea for collection at my accommodation. Could not be more thankful. Thank you!

We couldn't have asked for someone better than Adrian to explain the details of the old ghost Road and to get the best material for this track. Super flexible shuttle, individual bike fitting, extra gears if you need to fix stuff on the bike. By far the best service you can ask for!

Habitat sports sorted out all the bike hire gear for our Ghost Rd adventure. Adrian was very experienced in his understanding of bike mechanics and gave us a thorough breakdown of all the requirements and how to make repairs if needed. He also gave us some useful info on safety and survival. The Stumpjumper was an awesome ride and well up for handling the varied landscapes over the Ghost Rd trail. Overall, Adrian's services and riding knowledge was awesome, I would highly recommend Habitat sports. Thanks again bro. I'll be back soon to do the Heaphy!!

Adrian at Habitat Sports went above and beyond to make sure my quick trip to Old Ghost Road was amazing. From recommending the best plan of attack, to putting my pregnant wife at ease regarding my ability to handle the trail, to even letting me drop off the bike hours after closing time (and then refusing a tip for doing so 3 times). Hired 2 mountain bikes for a one day ride on Old Ghost Rd. Adrian gave excellent advice and set up of the bikes. Very impressed with the thoroughness of his service. Great delivery and pick of the bikes at the start of the track. For a first time mountain biker I had an awesome time. I didn’t realise a mountain bike could handle such terrain so well. I might have peaked too soon doing the Old Ghost Rd as my first ride. I definitely recommend Habitat and if I’m ever back in NZ I’d use them again. Thanks Adrian for an awesome experience.

Habitat sports came to us by local recomendation, and we're happy they did. Adrian was able to sort two excellent bikes and all the equipment required for us to cycle the Old Ghost Road, all at very short notice. His service was very friendly and accomodating, giving us a full run down of how to maintain and fix the bikes. Thankfully this wasn't needed as they were very well serviced prior to us departing. Would certainly use Habitat sports in future and recommend them to anyone thinking of cycling in this area. Made for one of our best experiences in NZ!

Habitat Sports is an excellent outfitter to rent mountain bikes and get a shuttle to ride the epic mountain bike treks in this area of New Zealand (we did the Old Ghost Rd). Adrian is great! He is super knowledgeable about the bikes he rents - they were in perfect condition when we picked them up - and he spent extra time with us to make sure we knew how to fix all the common things that could break on a multi-day ride on his bikes. The bikes are Specialized (not sure the model) with the modern one-x 11 drive train and and they were well geared for the Old Ghost Road. Adrian made sure we were comfortable with the bike fit and customize the shocks for us. Bikes come with a repair kit and chain lube, racks, helmet, and spd peddles if you want them. He also promptly picked us up when we called at the end of our ride. Thanks Adrian!

Really professional, knowledgable and experienced: I rented my gear and booked a shuttle for the old ghost road mtb ride. All gear perfectly prepared by Adrian, took his time to do a bike fitting, our stuff packed and emergency repair training. Also really good advise on the trail itself as Adrian has ridden it many times before. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for the best gear prep for the old ghost road.

Brilliant service, brilliant bikes! Adrian has a load of knowledge and is super passionate. So when you hire your wheels goto Habitat Sports where your magical true wilderness experience is about to begin. My journey started with finding Habitat Sports through Trip Advisor and after a few emails with Adrian my specialized stunt jumper was booked. When I arrived in Westport, Habitat Sports shop I was impressed straight away by the positive greeting Adrian showed me and the bikes on display, Adrian spent over an hour setting the bikd up to my liking and showing me the workings specific to the bike, also with several trial rides to ensure everything felt right and tuned to my riding style. He also poured his local knowledge of routes over a map. After the bike was fully packed and yet again Adrian suggested a couple of tweeks that I took on board and glad I did. Day 1 Adrian was ready and waiting with bike already loaded with my kit safely inside van and we set off of for Lyell. When at Lyell Adrian helped me strap everything on to the bike, took a few photos on mt phone and I was away... The next 3 days can only be described in taking part as no matter of words can detail the magic I experienced along my journey... my journey The Old Ghost Road Lyell to Seddonville to Chalming Creek track. Now go take your own journey and ride with Habitat Sports 🤘

Just wanting to email my thanks for your kindness and advice the other week. I had planned to bike the Heaphy track solo and was hiring a PLB for my personal safety. Your explanations and due diligence in ensuring the battery was tested and paperwork was then sent through to authorities ensured my happy confidence. I found out later that my flat mates had hidden my missing bike pedal intentionally so thank you for providing me with some plastic demo pedals, this was most appreciated. I will be sure to use your store again if the need arises and will recommended you to my friends and family. Awesome genuine kiwi service!

Rented a bike and gear from Habitat to ride the Old Ghost Road Trail. They also provided the shuttle. Bike was a quality Specialized Camber when a lot of shops rent cheaper stuff. Bike was in great shape and Denna and Adrian took the time to help make sure everything (shocks, breaks) were set up for me before taking off. Denna drove the shuttle and picked me up a day early when I got off the trail before I expected. They provided great advice on the trail and were very helpful over all.

Phenomenal service and care! Few weeks back I had to stop in Westport while cycling around the South Island. When my bike needed a special care :) after I broke a spoke and needed new brakes they took such a great care of me. Plus I got many recommendations for some rides for the next trip to NZ. Will be back!

Adrian at Habitat set us all up with amazing new dualie bikes for the Ghost Road and promptly shuttled us all around as needed. Very professional! The amount of work, standards and recent history on this heady track is amazing. Be sure to read up on and/or notice the local background in between grueling soul sweats. Broad and lush native meadows and beautiful Mokihinui Gorge were nearly flooded and drowned by a dam proposal. Truly a gem back there if you make it 🙏
