J.One of our favorite butchers in Auckland. However, lesson learnt to always personally select expensive cuts of meat.
Ordered 5kgs of grade 6-7 wagyu over the phone and got confirmation they had it in stock. Showed up to pick up and they said they only have grade 8-9 in store which is quite a bit more expensive ($199/kg), and they'd already packed it in a bag for me. A little bit of a hmmm but paid for it since I had already driven over.
The pieces on top had beautiful marbling, but once I got home and unpacked the chilly bag, the ones on the bottom (around 3 out of 14pcs) had some pretty questionable marbling for it to have been graded 8-9. Quite obvious with a side by side comparison. Have attached photo with the questionable cuts to the right :(
Always pick your own cuts of meat, I guess. On the positive side, the staff who handled payment were awesome and friendly as always :)
A.Excellent butcher, the Beef & Mustard sausages are always a winner! Lovely fat Pork Chops, spicy Salami & best of all I can get smoked Cannon Bones for my dog from them! Great service, very good meats & nice people to shop from.

T.Always a great selection of meat in store and online. Made an order Wednesday and it arrived at my home Thursday. Those Beef short ribs are immaculate. And don’t even get me started on the Moroccan lamb sausages. It’s was all just perfection. Do I need to even talk about the Wagyu Picanha? Cause that bad boy hits. 10/10 I’ll be back
A.This is the highest quality butcher I've found in Auckland and not to be missed. It is a well staffed shop with an awesome selection and reasonable prices. They are highly skilled butchers and can give you made to order cuts if you call ahead or can wait while your order is prepared. Their sausages are outstanding and their meat is fresh and high quality, they also have free range meat options available. Their regular in house smoked bacon is the best I've ever had. They are very busy during weekends and holidays due to how great they are so be prepared to wait if you go then, it is worth the wait. They do delivery now but I haven't tried that yet.
J.Westmere butchery came highly recommended by some local friends. We came, we saw, we drooled...and bought a substantial chunk of fresh and dried sausage. Also treated myself with what turned out to be a delicious scotch egg. Absolutely great butchers shop!

A.The meat here is amazing, especially the wagyu and biltong. However the most recent batch of biltong I bought had a strange bitter flavour and weird white powders on it that gave me a headache as well as stomach pain (as well as swollen bumps on my skin and inside my mouth). I'm not exactly sure what it is, maybe the cleaning powder that's used at the end of the day. Would appreciate it if you guys could look into it. I really love the biltong here but I don't want what happened earlier to repeat again.

J.Great service and great meat quality. Bought some aged beef sirloin, and they were the best. You have a large range of meat choices to choose from, either beef, pork and poultry. When walking in you can see the meat getting cut on the spot, therefore you can really trust the quality.
J.If you havent been here you should. Their casalinga sausages are on the breakfast menu at Verona Cafe & Bar in K'Road. You should try them.

The staff really know their stuff too, I asked them numerous questions regarding pasturing & nitrates, fillers in their sausages etc and they were able to answer everything clearly and honestly. The store is busy, and the staff were super patient / helpful. I recommend shopping here if you require quality meat.

J.Would have to disagree with Aaron below... Perhaps you were in at a particularly busy time or just on an off day, but the last time I went here the customer service was fantastic. Picked up 2kgs of beef mince and a small bag of beef cheeks a few weeks ago - however, the butcher who served me noticed that the date on the beef cheeks was not too far off from reaching it's best before an absolutely insisted on slicing some fresh ones for me, despite my assertions that it was fine. Fantastic service and best meat around - cheers guys.
T.Visited it after hearing it won New Zealand's 2018 sausage of the year and I wasn't the only one with the same thoughts. Store was packed but seemed to be well managed without too much of a wait. Unfortunately the sausage was all sold out so will be back for another attempt.

T.Westmere Butchery is amaaaaazing! We love heading out there to grab some of their gorgeous organic meats, juicy chicken or unique cuts. The difference between the supermarket meats and Westmere is phenomenal really I'm not too sure why you would ever go to the supermarket after tasting what meat should be like.
P.Pork pies are GREAT! travelled from Mt Roskill to try it and will be back again. Super friendly, shop is small so can get a wee bit crowded but stay a mo and take in all the mouth watering product and smells!

M.Fantastic Butcher! Great steaks and a huge selection of sausages. One of the very best in the city.
W.The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they have a great selection of goods, the reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 is that some of the sausages are a bit hit and miss , I think the butcher is getting a bit carried away, for example the duck and orange sausage was far to intense and rich, & the pure pork sausage , was not succulent it tasted like dry roast pork wrapped in a casing, however the pork and apple is by far the best out of the lot, even better than the award winning ones!
L.You go to the Westmere Butchery for quality meats and service no doubt. Although I recently purchased black pudding and this product did not live up to the quality expected. The product was tasteless and when cooked was grainy and almost crumbly in texture. I remember a moist well seasoned black pudding a few years ago.

A.It may have good quality meats but the customer service isn't as great as the hype below. Be ready to know what you want immediately or be swept away in the assembly line. Also if it ain't on the shelf or isn't already cut don't expect it done.
