Delicious, fresh fast bacon butty. Local fresh greens, homemade sauces/relish and smoky bacon. Highly recommend! Coffee was good too.

Asked if they had anything gluten free... Silly question. Most of it was gf. Chef Ryan was great." If it's not gf I can deconstruct it and make whatever you want". We chose pork spare ribs and lamb croquettes. It was great to watch a talented chef who obviously Ioves his work preparing our meals. Friendly, cheerful service. Super delicious food carefully seasoned. We will be back!

Reside in Wellies, "The Butcher's Mistress" creates the worlds best "lambs fry & bacon" better than my mum's... and more as we've worked our way through their menu. The Riverside is our daily go-to - real artisan food, great atmosphere totally wish we had a Wellies version of the Riverside, fingers & toes crossed on that!o! Recommend 110% and more, enjoy folks you won't be disappointed.

Love the food and the fact it is made right in front of you.....and how the chef engages with the customers and I tried a few small sample dishes while waiting for for excellent steak. Just comes to show you don't need to go to a high end restaurant for a good meal. Well worth a try

My husband and I traveled down from Hawkes Bay and while looking for somewhere to eat breakfast we could smell something worth investigating. We were delighted to find it was The Butcher’s Mistress. Ryan is an extremely talented man with food being his passion. Lovely friendly lady assistants too. The atmosphere of the place is fantastic. We had the big breakfast (sorry can’t remember the exact name) and what a culinary delight!! Ryan was a pleasure to see work. We enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner the following night and went back again to purchase some of the a grade meat that was for sale. It was a highlight for our trip. Don’t go to Christchurch without visiting the Riverside Market and dining at The Butcher’s Mistress. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t recommend it enough. We will be back 😊.

I went to the Riverside Market intending to have a Banh Mi but the stall wasn't open so I stumbled on the Butcher's Mistress by chance and noticed Lambs Fry on the menu. I ordered it without hesitation and was astounded by the quality of the dish chef Elliot whipped up. The depth of flavours packed into the white wine, cream and thyme sauce was truly exceptional. It is without doubt the finest meal of lambs fry I have EVER eaten. Rumour has it the word is out and someone commuted from Auckland to taste it. I can believe it. I was a visitor from Wellington and it will be a priority the moment I return. Even my wife who definitely doesn't like liver was amazed at the sauce and kept coming back for more. Elliot was friendly and personable and the entire experience was a standout of my time spent in Christchurch. It certainly surpassed the well reviewed Italian restaurant we had visited the night before. Brilliant job, Elliot !

Brilliant, this would have to be the best 'gourmet street food' My son and I had the brisket burger and a side of fries. The burgers were to die for, the side of fries were the best I've had, homemade sauce, sprinkling of cheese and nuts. It didn't take a lot of effort to raise the standard of the food!

Vibrant and happy place to visit. I was excited with the many options for dinning in this market. I chose the Butcher's Mistress and was happy I did. The Bacon and egg meal was devine! I loved the taste and the flavors the chef put together. The staff is friendly and made sure I was happy. The whole experience in this market is pure fun. I can't wait to go back.

First time to riverside market and absolutely loved this place. It’s a butchers counter with a food counter off to the side. So you can pick you meal from the fresh meat and they cook it in front of you. I had the bacon egg butty made with home cured bacon and free range eggs and it was excellent! Highly recommend.

What can I say... unbelievable. Had the brisket burger and crispy potatoes and a sample of the lamb fry and bacon. Only regret I had was ordering a drink. It took the taste away! Well done Ryan. Can’t wait to come back.

The attention was great and the food was excellent. We had bacon butties and lamb fry with bacon, all tasted really good. I definitely recommend it for a breakfast and although I didn’t have lunch there I can’t expect it to be less tasteful than what we had for. A must go in the Riverside Market.

Just had the lambsfry n bacon wow I'd have to say it was probably the best I've ever had even tho it wasn't served on mashed spud it was something special. Chef Elliott put his own special spin on it which made it amazing but check it out for yourself.

Stumbled on this place today for lunch. Oh my goodness what a treat. Watching the two hard case, friendly chefs cook the most amazingly tasty food right in front of you was fantastic. People are going to be lining up at the door for the experience and delicious food. I bet next time we will struggle to find a seat. We had a pork belly and lamb shoulder croquettes which were out of this world and around us the burger and ribs looked just as good. Our new go too for sure
