M. B.Had the reuben sandwich. It took awhile to consume it. That tubular-looking thing is a dessert. Very nice. Washed it down with a white coffee. Extremely good value at $18.00.
P.It's pretty fabulous! You do need to be aware that their coffee offerings are quirky: you certainly can't get a standard café flat white, even if that's what you order. My favourite is the hard sheep cheese with infused truffle.
A. M.Really liked the location, quality, and variety of stuff available here. We heard about the Reuben sandwich here so traveled from Wellington to try it first hand. It was delicious and a half portion was enough for two of us. While you’re there be sure to check out all the diverse range of delicacies.

A.On Trays has reinvented itself as Scheckter's Deli, featuring a huge range of deli items and a new sandwich menu. It's nice to be able to enjoy lunch and coffee now while shopping.
K.If you want a "deli" sandwich, this is the best place in Petone.
The meat in the sandwiches is sliced thing and stacked on, instead of having one or two slices of medium meat. The bread, cheese and other ingredients are the ones you would expect in a classic sandwich. They don't try and fancy it up by adding things that are not meant to be in the sandwich.
S.I dare you to walk in and not come out with an arm load of cheeses, wine, bilatong and many other treats you simply can't visit without coming our with so many tasty treats and hard to find items!! Not to mention their friendly and very helpful staff!!
P. S.Man I love this place. Best sandwiches for miles. Really nice pick of wines, amazing cheeses and cold cuts. One stop shop for the perfect platter. Great selection of hot sauces and pickles too.

Visited again March 2021. Now they have a brunch menu including a monster Reuben sandwich. That would serve two easily. It's a great sandwich but perhaps my only criticism is the vogel's bread is a bit thin to hold all the pastrami. Perhaps a thicker roll would be a better vehicle to hold all the fillings. But highly recommended

I. S.Always a great experience coming to OnTrays. They had just opened after renovations and are now serving food which you can eat on proper cafe tables. Some new staffing along with old ones but the experience is lovely as always with the owners and staff being very warm and friendly. Food of course is the same excellent quality. Highly recommended!

Complimentary and you can sample before you buy.Guarantee you won’t be leaving with an empty bag.
N.$10 for a coffee and bacon and egg roll. What a bargain. Just need some HP sauce. Cafe is a side business. Sell mainly South African goods. Excellent deli counter. I also noticed the sign for a epipen, should anyone need it. Highly recommend.

k.Best cheese shop in Wellington and great for other specialty deli goods. Have a great selection and really knowledgeable, friendly staff. You're always greeted with the offer of a coffee to drink while you browser and you can taste many of their products before you buy. I go to Petone (on the bus!) just to go to this shop. Highly recommended
N.Oh man they got it all. Cheese, expired hot sauce, Turkish coffee. Spendy but worth it if youre in it for something specific.

The deli is the highlight with an astonishing selection of cheeses (plenty in the cooler not on display, speak to the staff about what you want and they will sort you out). Lots of cured meat choices also. You get to try everything before you buy and wash it down with your complimentary fresh coffee.

The toasted sandwiches are great, I have tried the Ruben, Kimchi Ruben, The Max (cheese and tomato), and the Autostrada, all are fantastic, with great meat and cheese and cooked in duck fat all recommended.

R. M.I popped into OnTrays on Sunday with my husband to but lots of SA goodies which remind me of “home”. The mixed veg pickle was off and smelt awful, sadly. This was the first time I had this experience, as I have been shopping there for the last 15 years. I called Steven and had a chat about it this morning, and he said to bring it in. I popped in this arvo, he was surprised as he said this never happened before. He was nevertheless polite, professional and offered another bottle or a refund. I instead bought my usual lamb boerewors and rusks:) Thumbs up, Steven👍🏽

You'll probably be offered a free coffee when you go in and can taste biltong, cheeses and probably most other things in the deli. Another nice touch is you get the option of paper bags at checkout.
There are only a few downsides to the shop. The main one is that it can get quite busy and the aisles are quite narrow so it can be difficult to move around. The other is that you spend more money than you mean to 😄. A highly recommended shop.

All customers are welcomed with the words, 'Would you like some coffee?' Coffee is served in cups and both skim and full milk are on offer.There is no pressure to buy if one accepts the coffèe but people invarably do as the food samples one can try are too good not to take home. OnTrays also supplies the restaurant trade.
