Excellent staff and customer service, vehicle I hired was clean and tidy. There was a small mechanical problem not long before we arrived back, but Omega got onto it straight away. I left a parcel behind, but it was no problem picking it up later in the week. Loved the fact that I didn't need a credit card to hire nor do you need to pay a bond if you pay for the gold insurance (which was $50).

Omega were really easy to deal with. Online booking and confirmation. I hired a hybrid, Toyota Aqua which seemed pretty fuel efficient. It was a painless and economical process to hire a car from them. I’ve recommended to others but would definitely use them again.

I hired a car with Omega during a longer stay in New Zealand in 2021/22. I had to extended by booking a couple of times, and also had to swap cars once. I found their service very professional, helpful and friendly throughout. We'll definitely be using them again on our next trip.

I had a really good experience. I dropped in, the staff were really helpful, arranged a car for collection for the next day, the price was reasonable and I was able to drop the car off at the airport for no extra charge at the end of the rental term. Also during my trip I was able to arrange taking the car to the South Island with a simple phone call to Omega as they act as agents for Interislander ferries.

The worst part of my rental experience was returning the vehicle after hours to the arena car park, I was given a map with the street names drawn over by directional arrows, the actual address of the car park building was not written on the paper and there was no contact phone number for the parking building, nor yet an after hours number for omega. Wishing to try a hybrid I rented an Aqua, it was ok, the car felt really cheap, after a few hours of driving my hands were sore from the hard plastic construction, when I opened the back windows the whole inside of the car vibrated and made a truly horrible sound.

I wish I knew the guys name that I spoke to but I called the head office branch at about 3.45 on Monday and I cannot explain enough how amazing he was and his fantastic customer service! Same with the guy at the counter in Auckland City. I was in a tricky situation where I needed a car ASAP and they were both so helpful, the guy in Auckland even stayed at work late so I can get there. They did lose one star due to $2300 bond not being returned for over a week after drop off,no response to my email enquiry and an international call to follow up, where they easily processed the refund over the phone

As it was my first time renting a car, I wasn't sure on what to expect. The staff was friendly and helpful during both check-in and check-out. They were one of the few open on Good Friday and Easter Monday! No problems with the car (Mazda Demio) - it was clean and ready to go. While the care was an import with a very annoying consul (voice) and impossible to understand. The car was efficient, the price was appropriate, the service was fast, and the car was clean. 5 stars for price point and what I received. Hired a car from Omega late 2019. Shuttle picked us up from the airport and took us to the rental office, in there we were greeted by a friendly staff. The car that we got was a pretty recent model Toyota Vitz, was clean and really nice to drive. The car got us to Hanmer and back to Christchurch no problem at all. The only disappointing experience was after I returned the car I realised I had left something behind in the car, I emailed them but no one replied back to my emil. Otherwise it was a very good experience.

I've used Omega twice now and both times have been super easy. I found their customer service excellent when I was picking up the car. Drop off at Auckland Airport was super easy, there was a van waiting to drop me off at the terminal. I would recommend.

Excellent service at the best price! We hired one of the older models and it was clean and comfortable and drove very well, even on hilly and winding open roads. We were very impressed. A very cheap car rental option. I picked the cheapest option and got a surprisingly good car that was very clean and only have about 55,000kms on the odometer. I got the premium insurance and when the windsheild cracked because of a stone chip they handled it for me, offering a replacement car for free. Very good prices and customer service.

A friend recommended Omega as the place to go for car rental in Central Auckland so they were the first place I looked when I needed wheels for a tramping trip. I’ve booked 3 trips of various lengths with Omega rental - even back in England, they responded to my questions by personal email. I was very happy with the car I received last weekend. I would recommend Omega to anyone needing an auto rental in New Zealand. We rented from twice during our unexpectedly extended stay in New Zealand, in Christchurch in February and in Auckland in June. In both cases the vehicles were clean and performed flawlessly. Rented a car for 9 days through Omega. It was a brand new Hyundai Tuscon which was a great surprise, & very reasonably priced compared to other car hire places. Had a small hitch with them picking us up from our accommodation in Auckland to collect the car but that was a communication problem. Car drop off at Wellington was smooth and hassle-free, then a quick shuttle bus to the airport. Omega was recommended to me by a friend & I will certainly be recommending them to others. Car pick up in the city is always a bit tricky, but we were staying across the road, and thought we would give Omega Car Rental a go… There were a couple of attempts at confirmation, but once established that we indeed had a booking all seemed okay. Staff at the office were friendly, but the check in was not efficient. The car that was brought out onto the footpath and checked for dents was not cleaned on the outside, and the inside was just passable. The first GPS did not work, and I was told it was the last one. Luckily another appeared while the dent report was finished (there were plenty of scrapes in it). Luckily the second GPS was working, but later it was found that the maps weren't up to date. The trip after that went okay, the car didn't have any issues and handled the road well. The car was five years old. When we dropped the car back to the Auckland depot in the late afternoon, the traffic was busy and I was concentrating on getting my companions safely to the accommodation, and didn't notice the petrol station "just up the road", which I was informed of after I got back. Because I didn't fill the car up (it had over half a tank) I was charged $30 for not filling it, and $4 a litre (per the contract), which came to $105?? Now, as I'd hired cars from other hire places before, and been unable to fill the car due to time restrictions and been charged only for fuel at current prices and the fee waived, I found this to be excessive. I won't be hiring from Omega again.

We have rented from Omega several times in the past few years when traveling in New Zealand from the US. We have found their staff efficient, helpful and competent. We have never had a problem with any of their cars and there have never been any unpleasant surprises with fees. When comparing Omega prices with those of others, we have been more than satisfied.

I was looking for a cheap deal without compromising on safety and comfort, and Omega Rentals offered just that. The booking process was easy and when I picked up the car, the staff were friendly. I didn't quite understand why any damage to the tires would not be covered by the full insurance I took out, but my trip went smoothly so I didn't have to deal with the issue. Never used Omega before as we are from the UK. We booked online for a pick up in Auckland close to our hotel. Our car was ready and waiting. Very helpful lady at the desk to talk me through the paperwork and check over the Hyundai Tuscan. Needed to change our drop off in Wellington as we had changed our hotel to nearer the airport. This wasn't an issue and I was soon on my way. Drop off was just as easy and we even received a drop off back to our hotel by Omega. Really nice touch and not something I have had in the UK before. I would definitely recommend Omega cars for simplicity and flexibility. Overall cost was very good too.

I booked a car in the UK via the Omega website and the process was very simple. On the day I picked up the vehicle, the paperwork was completed within minutes and I was on my way. I would encourage everyone to take out the full insurance with Omega as it gives you complete peace of mind. The car itself -- Nissan, wasn't new (my choice as it was better value), was clean, comfortable and easy to drive. In all I drove it for 1000 km and had no problems at all. Great car rental company, we were very pleased with the car it’s cleanliness and reliability. We opted for a car that was a few years old and with approximately 100k kms on the clock rather than a new car with only a small number of kilometres. The reduced cost of taking this option was significantly less by more than half and the car was clean, comfortable and reliable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Always a great price, friendly staff and exactly what you order - not any unexpected extras. Easy. Nice car. Only reason not 5 stars as they are not on site at the airports etc - but that helps keep the price down - considerably cheaper than the big brands ones but still good cars and great service. They have a shuttle service from the airport to the premises - takes a little more time but very easy. Second time we have used them and will definitely use them again.

The car did exactly what we needed it to, and it was pretty affordable as well! We even had to extend our drop off time by a few hours and they were cool with it. The car seemed like new when we got it; not sure if that's always the case, but the whole experience was very professional. If I ever need to rent a car in New Zealand another time (fingers crossed I'm fortunate enough to visit again), I'll use Omega for sure.

We recently visited NZ and hired a car from Omega. The service was fantastic at the pick up, the french lad explained everything to us we needed to know, (he also took the time to show us where the Toll roads were on our planned route and the alternative routes), and was lovely to deal with. The car itself was ideal, nice and cheap petrol wise and comfortable for the travel. The drop off blew us away, we dropped the car off to a friendly Indian chap and he gave us a lift to our motel nearby. Service like this is hard to find and we would definitely recommend Omega.

Cost or renting the car was very competitive. The service both at the beginning and on final delivery was efficient and stress free. There was also a free shuttle running every 15 minutes to take us to the airport. Note that if you require free transport from your accommodation to pick up your vehicle, you need to contact Omega rentals at least 24 hours beforhand. All in all a very happy experience. Rented an Omega car from Auckland, drove up North and returned it in Wellington. Also rented an Omega car in Picton and dropped it off in Christchurch. Very nice and polite people to deal with in all four locations. In Wellington one of the omega members of staff, instead of calling for a taxi drove us to our hotel. No complications what so ever. Our visit to Omega Rental Shop at Auckland City was great.First it was easy to find the shop from our hotel and we took a nice walk there. We had a reservation for Toyota Corolla Hatch for (19th-21st Nov). The staff who attended to us was really interesting. He was cool and made the collection of our vehicle smooth. We were a bit worried at first when we had a vehicle without the GPS option as we were not well verse with the routes and all but it was fairly simple to get around Auckland and other parts of New Zealand. The best car rental company I have ever hired by far. No hassle, no hidden fees, great value, great customer service. Smooth car pick up and drop off process. The car was in great condition when we got it. Got their full protection insurance for the whole trip, gave us peace of mind to enjoy the long scenic drive exploring south island, definitely worth it. Dropped off our car at a car park 5-10 mins from Christchurch airport at 3 am in the morning, greeted with smile by the staffs. We are very satisfied with our Omega Rentals (Beach Road in Auckland) experience. We booked in advance from Canada and when we arrived everything was all set for pick up. They even let us change the dates for drop off. We choose a Rav4, which served our party of four very well. We had unlimited mileage and had three drivers with no extra charges. When we dropped off the car, one of the staff drove us back to our hotel for at no extra cost. They are easy to reach and answer the phone personally. Cheapest vehicle I could find online for this busy time of the year. Location was easy to find and vehicle was as described. Any email queries I had were responded tp promptly - impressed! The guy who served me could have been a bit more friendly and advised that it was a foot brake for a hand break and that it was a keyless car. I have consistently had a great experience with Omega Car Rental. I rented from this company in the South Island and thought they were fantastic, so I was happy to rent from them again in Auckland. The staff were friendly during the check in & check out process, and the car we received was clean and worked great. I highly recommend these guys if you want a good deal and a hassle-free car rental experience! PS. Omega Car Rental is one of the only NZ rental companies that does NOT charge you a fee for returning the car at a different location than you picked it up. Other companies charge $100-200 extra which can make a big difference.

Overall experience very good. Nice car! Gold insurance is a must to buy. When we return car, there is a scatch and the staff ask us why. Luckily we have taken photos to prove it existed before we use the car.

This is the second time we have used Omega Rentals and we have been very happy with the service on each occasion. On this occasion we hired a Toyota Corolla from Auckland City and dropped it off a couple of weeks later in Wellington. In both places staff were cheerful and helpful. In Wellington we were offered a lift to the Rail Station. The car was just what we needed, was clean when we collected it and behaved well throughout. In both our dealings with Omega we have opted for small cars and have found them to be excellent value for money. Provided you don't need the latest model, we can strongly recommend Omega Rentals. EDIT: We have just used Omega Cars again for the third time. We had a Nissan Tiida for a couple of weeks, picking up in Auckland City and dropping off at Wellington Airport. All the comments above continue to apply and we would use Omega again without hesitation.

Picked up car at Auckland CBD half an hour early and staff were happy to get us on our way early. We had the car for over 3 weeks and traveled all over New Zealand. Eventually dropped off the car at Christchurch and were very happy with the friendly helpful service we received at both locations. The car ran very well and was both comfortable and economic (just 2 passengers and luggage). We looked at several rental companies and settled on Omega as having good reviews and being competitive. Fully justified our choice - strongly recommend.

We rented a compact car for 18 days with Omega and the experience was excellent. Both pick-up and drop-off instances were straight forward, very quick paperwork and the staff was very kind. Also the location in Downtown Auckland is very convenient, walking distance from where most tourists stay and very close to the highway so it's easy to leave the city without going through it.

These guys were great,very friendly staff, i got there about 20 minutes earlier than my original pickup time and they still gave me the car, no problems. My car charger didn't work, and they lent me theirs, which was amazing. They had really good rates, too, and the car was clean, new and drove very well. Highly recommend them!

These guys were on the cheaper side but their service was top-notch. We just needed a little run-about for our trip to Nelson so opted for the smallest car that they had (2007 Mazda Demio). When I was looking around to rent a car, I looked at the bigger companies. They didn't have great reviews especially the ones in Auckland. I came across Omega because their price was very affordable for a newer car with full insurance. We had no problems picking it up in Auckland or dropping it off in Wellington. They were busy when we checked in, but luckily it didn't take us long to get the car and get on the road. Very happy we were able to travel through the north island with a car.

Hired a car from Omega the other day to go on a day trip up the north coast. I found the staff to be efficient, helpful and friendly. The little automatic Toyota I was given proved to be perfectly adequate for the trip and I had no issues with the car whatsoever, even though it wasn't the latest model. $42 NZ for the full day's hire was excellent value compared to what the 'Big Name' rental companies were asking. I would have no hesitation in recommending Omega to any person interested in getting value for their hard earned dollar.

We rented a Corolla glx2000 for 3 days. The condition of the car was tip top and new. Rental price was by far the cheapest could find as compared to the branded ones. When we returned the car, it was close to 5pm and I asked if I could just return in and pay the fuel penalty. The staff assured me that he can wait for me to fill up the gas right acthe street which I did and still manage to return the car on time, so kudos to the staff!

Booked online and picking up the car was really easy from Auckland City Branch, just a few pieces of paper work to sign and payment to take. They gave us information about where toll roads were and how to pay too. We had booked snow chains which we were advised weren’t necessary by the omega team so they were taken off the price. Car was in excellent condition and very clean. The car had all the bells and whistles too (it obviously wasn’t the basic model). We did order a sat nav but it got very confused early in the trip with the road works (not too far out the city) so we used google maps which worked well with Apple Car Play. We went for the fully insured option and had no issues at the end of our trip returning the car (which was a straightforward and efficient process). Overall would definitely recommend.

We returned our car after 5 weeks and was asked by the return person to go clean our car. I’ve really not experienced a car company asking me to clean up the car. The car was not perfect but I did not think nasty. I found the comment unwelcomed. Otherwise, the experience with omega was a good one

Car was fine and we had no issues with it however we had to buy tyre valve caps and it wasn’t that clean on pickup. The person who handed the car over to us was miserable and we were made to feel like we were a nuisance to him. Paid extra for the full insurance however this doesn’t include damage to tyres - weird. We felt that if something had gone wrong, it would have been a nightmare to resolve and we’d have been charged and blamed. Dropped the car off in a better state than we picked it up in!! Wouldn’t use them again.

Had no problems. Was a bit surprised to receive the car with half full tank. It is customary for rental companies to give you a car with a full tank - makes much easier to "even the score" at the end. Other than that, the car was in good order, ran very well. The documentation/instructions provided with the car were in good order. Overall, experience was good.

During a 4+ weeks holiday in New Zealand we rented 3 cars from Omega, 2 from Auckland - City and 1 from Picton. The service at both offices was good but especially so in Picton which was far more personal. All three cars had done or close to doing 100,000 miles. Only the last one, a small Mazda, showed its age and was very noisy and had a lot of rattles, not helped by the New Zealand road surfaces. It also unexpectedly had satnav fitted but unfortunately this was unusable as all the buttons were labelled in Japanese and the maps also only for Japan, a clear guide as to where the car had been brought in from. The other two, another small Mazda and a Toyota Carolla were much better although having done similar if not more mileage. Overall we were very pleased with the service we received from Omega. We were expecting to get older cars but they were in good shape despite the odd scratch and dent. We had done a bit of research before going and Omega seemed competitively priced with the internet price being better than the walk in off the street equivalent. We also took out the Gold insurance which meant it was less stressful if a little pricey. We will definitely use Omega again when in New Zealand and will always try to include a visit to the Picton branch!

We arranged to collect a car from Beach Road in Auckland. Omega agreed to collect us from our hotel on Federal Street ( after I asked nicely) and brought us to the office. We completed paperwork for the out of hours service at Christchurch ( next part of our journey) and then were presented with our vehicle for Auckland. Although the team were short staffed they were delightful and helpful and off we went on our journey. Vehicle return was straightforward and the shuttle service deposited us back at the domestic terminal. Simple and very efficient. The car was fine, exactly as we wexpected as we had booked the more ' mature' vehicle but it got us about and was great. Aloe. Have used Omega Rentals for a number of years and always found them friendly, efficient and good value. The cheaper cars are reliable, tidy and well maintained if not particularly flash. But the real difference is in their attitude and willingness to help. Last time I used them due to flight cancellations was running very late. They were waiting to pick me up, had car ready with keys in it and went the extra mile to allow a quick departure. So highly recommend the service and thanks to the staff.

The company did not try to up-sell other services during the check-in/pick-up process and the drop-off process was quick and easy. Our car rental was functional and comfortable. Firstly a first class quality car that did what we wanted. Unfortunately whilst we were using the car we had a object thrown up from the road service cracking the windscreen. This needed to be replaced but this was not possible till we had returned the car at the end of our hire period which was only a few days later. Omega were very good and gave us an estimate as we departed the country a few days later they contacted us to say it had cost less than anticipated and a refund was on its way. I have to say they have been straight forward to deal with and given us a first class service. Would both recommend them and use them next time we visit. Could do with new directions to airport drop off as road changes have altered the current guide.

The cheapest place in a reasonable location open Boxing Day and New Years, but they actually had great service too. The car was comfortable and did well on our road trip from Auckland to Wellington and back. The GPS was surprisingly reliable through numerous roundabouts. Only complaints are the car proximity sensor went off constantly whenever the car was stopped or going under 10kph, regardless of whether anything was near us or not; and the “USB” feature charged our phones but wouldn’t play through the speakers. In hindsight we should have asked for an auxiliary cable as well.

It was a really comfortable ride. The full insurance on the rentals was cheap also, and luckily I bought the insurance because unfortunately I had a road accident during my travel. Full insurance had $0 excess and covers pretty much everything. When I returned the vehicle, all I had to do was fill out the claim form for the insurance. I have rented cars in many countries (Canada, USA, Ireland, UK, France) and I have not experienced the ease of service and transparency that Omega has demonstrated. I have now rented again from Omega for the second leg of our New Zealand trip and have received the ease of check-in and got a better vehicle than the first one - which was very good anyway. The vehicles I have got (Toyota Rav-4's) are late-model, lower mileage SUV's in excellent condition. It is a pleasure to rent from Omega.

We went to pick up our car at Auckland airport after hours and Omega had forgotten to leave the car and keys with the clerk. We had to catch a taxi to our hotel, which cost us $80. When we rang Omega the following morning they were apologetic and arranged for us to collect our car at the inner city depot. They gave us a discount of about $250, which was good. Our drop off at Christchurch airport was easy and trouble free.

Got a nice reliable 2nd hand car for less than half the price of the usual hire car companies (hertz, Avis etc). A few minor things like aux cord input not working and had to manually adjust the side mirrors as the electric adjustment wasn't working. The car was super fuel efficient which is great for the high NZ petrol prices and for the cost, it did its job well. Would hire from them again.

hired a car at short notice from the Wellington branch for a one-way trip to Auckland, Car was fine - upgraded on pick-up to a relocation vehicle that needed to be returned to Auckland so had a better car than booked. Only niggle was being charged an extra day's rental on returning the car despite having been told that it could be returned after the time stated in the contract without a problem (within reason) - contract said 12.00 and we returned the vehicle at 2.45 The explanation given that only one hour's grace was allowed didn't tie in with the time on the contract, let alone what had been said at pick-up, as 12.00 was an hour and a half after the pick-up time. Excellent service and well priced. The car, a RAV4, was as booked and just what my wife and I needed for our trip from Auckland to Queenstown. (I probably shouldn't have been surprised by actually getting the car I'd specified. However, having had at the start of our holiday a long standing booking with Hertz for a mid size car for our drive down to London Heathrow from Derby and then on collection provided with an absolutely awful and totally unsuitable VW Transporter as "the last car they had", I was impressed, not to say relieved!). The Omega pick up and return process was smooth and the staff were friendly and helpful. This approach was also evident on the phone, when we had a change of plan and asked at short notice to change the drop off point from Christchurch to Queenstown. This request was accommodated willingly and efficiently. Our total rental time was three weeks, which is the longest car rental I've ever had, and based on this experience I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Omega Cars and will definitely use them in future if I'm ever fortunate enough to visit New Zealand again.

Whilst the car was fine and there was fortunately no problem getting my full bond back and no damage concerns whatsoever, and the female staff were really lovely, I did have a brief disappointing moment where - upon thoroughly checking over the car on pickup - one of the male staff members got huffy with me, presumably because I was taking longer than he'd like. I booked for Medium sized SUV for 6 day road trip in New Zealand, though this was first time i booked with a non branded (American) company based on reviews, and I must say I was very happy with the experience. I got a Toyota RAV 4, the car was maintained decently well and I got a great deal on it for about 530$ NZD for 6 day’s no deposit (Hetz Australia and most other other brands in this part of the world take a 100$ deposit min). These guys also have a very straightforward insurance policy it does not have the super cover policy (which means tires battery and keys are on you) but has zero liability for a very good price (the best I have ever seen). I took the car from Auckland Downtown and returned to Christchurch Airport both were good locations. The only minor glitch is that they don’t have after hours drop even in the airport (most of the companies including the big ones also don’t have that). But they have an arrangement with a nearby parking lot for a minor charge of 35$ 1 time, I dropped the car at 3:30AM and the parking lot operates a free shuttle (every 5 mins travel time 5-8 mins ) to the airport. So overall great company if you are planning for a long term rental in NZ. I would strongly recommend this.

Good experience hiring from Wellington. Returned the car to Auckland, but got stuck in traffic on the way there. We called the Auckland office and informed them of the situation, and were assured that we could return the car an hour late with no penalty. When we arrived, nobody seemed to know or care about the phone call and I was charged an additional $48 for a late return. The car was smooth and relatable, but I was not especially pleased with this transaction.

Pick up and drop off were well managed and recommend details of insured tyre failure and repair coverage and cost be included on your Omega website as this came as a big surprise to me. The cheapest rates available. There's a reason they're rated so highly! Whilst our Corolla had 60,000 kms on the clock and most of the more premium rental car companies we went with in the past had much lower mileage, it didn't make much of a difference because the car still took us from A to B in comfort. Picking it up was a straight forward process, and we were surprised when dropping it off because they had a free shuttle to the airport. Zero hassles. The best bit is that the cars already have a few scratches, so you don't need to worry as much about keeping it in pristine condition. It's also worth getting the 'gold cover' for $0 excess to give you an extra piece of mind. And they're much more reasonably priced in this department compared to all other competitors. 10/10 I would book with them again.

I ordered an economy car and got an old Mazda Demio with 120 000 km. The computer interface was in Japanese and couldn't be switched to English. I had difficult time connecting my mobile. Nevertheless, I crossed both islands on this car (Omega is one of the few companies allowing boarding the ferry without changing the car). Fuel consumption was 6L/100 km which I consider very good on NZ roads. Picking/dropping the car was very smooth. In total, 5 stars because everything was in order.

I took the budget Mazda out for a day from the Beach Road shop in Auckland a few weeks back and it was fine. I booked late the previous night and it was all ready next morning. The service in the shop was efficient; the vehicle clean and the price good. The car did feel like it might not start a couple of times during the day, which worried me, but it didn't let me down. Two small practical things I'd have liked are: a pointer on how to open the petrol cap (!) and a copy in the car of the map of how to get to the multi-storey car park - it's on the window of the shop so I had to drive past and look. No big deal. As a non-NZ driver, I'd also have liked the insurance situation to be clarified. I had a great day. It's the second time I've used Omega, and I'll use them again when I'm next in NZ.

OK, so the vehicle wasn't brand new and wasn't as 'shiny clean' as you might get from the more well-known rental car places but the car we hired got us from 'A' to 'B' and back again safely, reliably and in comfort and didn't cost the earth to hire, so what more do you need? The staff were super friendly, down-to-earth, and everything was very clearly explained (which you don't always get with the bigger rental companies). The online booking process was very straightforward and all the paperwork was ready when we arrived. I think it took about 10 minutes from arrival to driving out the gate, which included an extra windscreen polish! Would definitely use Omega again in the future.

When choosing the rental company to use for our four week holiday in New Zealand we trawled through all the websites and found that Omega had the most 'friendly', 'no nonsense' and 'easy to use' website. The booking process was very straight forward and the prices were by far better than all the other companies. We were four adults and ordered a Rav 4 or the like but before we collected the car in Auckland we realised that the boot would not be large enough to take all the luggage, so we contacted the Auckland office and they arranged for us to see a Previa. Compared with a disappointing previous hire from a so called "top tier" company, these guys were head and shoulders above. I got car 70% fuel filled and have to give back with same. I filled twice ($8+$15) and it could'nt reach to required level and on third time it raised to 105%. That was really embarrassing as fuel cost comes up near to rent cost for one day as we did'nt move not more than 60KM. It seems to be staffed by poorly trained backpackers (at least that seemed to be the case when we were there), who screwed up some of the formalities for us. Other branches have always been great. Older car provided - 5 years and 135,000km but still going well. Efficient process and much, much lower rates than Avis or Hertz. Location along Beach Rd just after Customs St East is handy for CBD pickup but on return you might need to park on the sidewalk next to the office because you can't drive it in from Beach Rd - ask them if there is a back way in to return the car. The only odd thing was that the petrol/gas tank was NOT full on pickup - it was showing the middle of the top quarter on the gauge - notionally 7/8 which the provider was interpreting as 95% while it was closer to 87.5% - so I had her correct this. It is best to carefully draw the gauge level on the paperwork which has gauge diagrams. I have been caught out with expensive petrol/gas tank top-ups by rental car agencies before but nothing untoward happened this time. I would use them again but I'd try and get a newer car

I rented a car from Omega when I first moved to Auckland. I called the Auckland City Centre branch to book a rental car for the same day, and I asked for the rate that was available on-line. They mentioned that in order to get that rate, I would need to make the booking online. Online, there was a pre-2000 car rate per day, and a post-2000 car rate. I paid extra for the post-2000 car rate, and I received a 2001 car in fairly run-down condition when I went to the dealership to pick up the car. If I had known that I was going to receive a 2001, I would have saved $10 per day and gone for the pre-2000. Unfortunately, this is the issue with not being able to book directly with the dealership and booking on-line. If I had booked with the dealership, I couldn't have received the preferential rate. Pick your poison!

OK, folks. I used Omega on a trip to NZ from the states in 2008. That was an excellent experience, so when I needed to rent a car on a budget I barely price-shopped: A 9-day rental, pick up and drop off at Auckland airport. They were near lowest on rates, and past experience made it an easy choice. The service is *very* good, from phone call for the reservation right through to drop off confirmation call - people taking time to greet you, being informative, and friendly. Shuttle pickup was just a tad long a wait,but not more than 20 minutes. Seriously no worry. The car was also just dandy - readers please remember this is a budget car place and I rent in the "oh, that's really old" category to save money. Mine was just that: an old car, sedan, high miles. Nothing much to look at, no frills: but it ran great and safely. Put somethiong like 850K on it, no prob. Slight wobble felt at speed, probably a wheel balance was slightly out. Not at all concerning while on road, BTW. Handled very well. My ONE complaint: I had a very early flight out, and had to drop off the car before they opened - at the airport. (Very convenient, thanks) But here'rs the thing: When I picked up, the counter person used their hand-out map to show me where to park when dropping off. Seemed well and good at the time, but in the early morning hours, running a tad late, I couldn't reconcile that map with what I saw in front of me at the terminal. The map is awful. Now please, the map thing is a trivial complaint. Don't take it to mean anything other than a warning for folks to be better aware of it than I was, nothing more. Omega rocks! Will use 'em again.

Very happy with our car we had to transport the 5 of us around the North island. Fourth time with Omega and all have been a good experience whether from Christchurch, Queenstown and now here. Car was in almost new condition and 4WD allowed us to avoid having to put on chains while skiing - definitely worth it when seeing others trying to put them on after fresh snowfalls!
