This is the 5th time renting from Apex Car Rentals in NZ. 2016,2017,2018,2019 and now 2022. Vehicle rentals are fair and budget conscious. Service is great from all the staff. Demonstrations are done for snow chains to ensure safety. Vehicle choices are mainly reliable Japanese cars. Had one incident in 2019 where the rental had engine issues midway through the trip. Otherwise, it was smooth. Recommend.

Quick pick-up from the airport, collect our car in less than 5mins, car upgraded to a medium size SUV... Amazing service!!

Went in this afternoon to pick up my rental, can't remember name of lady that served us but geez she was EXCELLENT!!!!! Extremely helpful, friendly and led us out to an awesome blue Toyota Corolla. Very satisfied customer.

Awesome experience! I've been constantly using Apex because they provide the best cars at the best prices. Never had any issues with pickup/dropoff, pricing, etc. Their staff are super friendly and I was upgraded to the 2020 Corolla without even asking. The prices have gone up since Covid and I'd love to see a "Members only pricing scheme" similar to Booking.com's Genius scheme where the more you use Apex, the more discount you get for being loyal to Apex.

Apex are usually excellent but sadly the Christchurch Airport branch was let down by a grumpy middle aged gent with red/blonde hair who seemed to regard customers as a nuisance. We were unfortunate to get him twice, once driving the pick up van and again with the drop off of the car. Not terrible but nowhere near the usual standard of Apex service. Rental car itself was fine.

best car rental around country.... somehow I fount lack of cutomer service with the ladies who work there I am not sure but may be they are busy in their own work load..unless apex is the best car rentals. I always choose apex around the country.

Great service, had issues with automatic boot opener on our high lander.. Called one of the apex stuff and sorted us out straight away! Breeze to work with.

Other than that the vehicle given was in very new and in grwat condition. Vehicle and individual want to drive.

I had two separate good experiences renting a compact car from Apex. The price was significantly better than all of the competitors and the car was in good shape. The staff at Christchurch airport was very friendly, they could have charged us for a tire that failed on our last day, but didn't as the tires were older. I thought that was classy. I will definitely hire from Apex next time I am back in NZ.

The final destination we dropped off the rental cars, before we headed off Christchurch International Airport. One of the staff members gave my family and I a ride to the airport. Overall, the service is a-okay.

If you looking for great prices amazing service for a rental car this is it. We paid for a cheap car for a week to run around the city. It was very clean,looked good, nice to drive. Yes it was older/used car but that reflects the price. You can get top of the range cars too. Located near the airport we picked up 10mins and drop off 5mins with fast friendly staff.

My wife has brought two ex rental cars from this business. She still has her new car and we were most impressed when after she got the Toyota Corolla, that it had a flat battery. Upon inquiring if this was covered under the warranty to be told yes. Then once the As got it started, went to Apex Rentals Airport site where they not only replaced it, and a windscreen wiper blade, gave her some food and a cold drink while she waited on the work to be done. Nothing was a problem and left site later totally amazed and thankful. So thank you Apex Rentals and love my Corolla heaps😊😊😊😊

So easy to book online. Staff always very helpful. The whole process is seamless from pickup to drop-off. Vehicles are always clean. Best to book before you arrive though.

Excellent service, collection and returning of car was fast and courteous. Rented a Toyota Camry for 11 days ( April ). The customer service manager ; Helen Morris was awesome, she was always smiling , gave us some good tips on scenic routes and where to stop for meals. The car was clean and everything was great. I hired a latest model Ford Focus for 7 days and was very happy with car and the service I received. The car was clean and drove like a dream. The staff was very friendly, informative, knowledgeable and helpful. They were very understanding about a change of drop off location due to flight schedule changes and there was no additional charges and they even drove us back to our hotel after dropping off the car. The price of the rental car was really good and to have the mid-range model with a lot good features, which I would not expect from other rental companies. I would highly recommend fuel pre-purchase option to just drop off the car with no stress about filling up the car before returning it. I would highly recommend hiring from Apex car rental and I will be using them again next time I require a rental car in New Zealand.

Car was older with some functions broken and a bit messy but otherwise fine. One lady got angry at me for simply opening the hood and another got rude saying I’m not allowed to touch anything but the lights when I asked how to turn on 4wd, claiming it’s not 4wd when it clearly says it on the back and on my booking. The mechanic that came after was nice and helpful and the receptionist was also nice.

Chinese New Year made Christchurch completely hectic. Despite longer than usual wait at pick up, staff were quick courteous and pleasant. Noticed they put a lot of extra effort into checking international drivers fully understood NZ road rules, were aware of likely hazards etc. Drop off was busy but I was very quickly processed and dropped at the airport in plenty of time. Car I got was very acceptable and reasonably priced, esp when such high demand

The 4 wheel drive they gave us was a RAV4 which was only 4wd at under 40km/hr. Not really what we were after for Mt Hutt ski field? Otherwise, price good, staff good. Good shuttle service to airport.

Apex pickup shuttle came regularly. But it was so busy there. Too many people, you have to wait in a long line and so many problems that it took quite a lot of time for them to deal with one customer. Waited for almost an hour. All of the staffs were beat, but tried to keep patient and squeezed smile. Only one young staff with tatto was quite rude and impatient. She only treated the customers who flattered her nicely. The car was a bit old with scratches, the staff didn’t have time to take pics or explained. The break of the car is a bit weird, need to take time to adjust. But with the price, overall it’s ok. Do remember to take pics of the car conditions, as when I returned the car in other location, the staff accused me of the scratches which were there originally. Gladly I took pics when picking up the car.

Great service from Apex Car Rental! We chose the nil excess for peace of mind and it was still way cheaper than the other big companies. The process was easy from start to finish, and the complimentary lift to Queenstown airport was great! I didn't even have to wait for a communal van, a girl just jumped into the van and drove me there straight away. Would definitely use these guys again for our next trip!

Good price but you have to be shuttled to and from base to pick up and drop off. I guess that gets you away from airport fees but ot does add 10 - 15mins to the process. Sign up was ok and the guy was really fair on the return so wud go back here again

Very good value for money, car was also in very good nick and catered to my request of getting a manual (most of their fleet are automatics). Friendly staff and all in all a good and slick experience. No issues at the other end when dropping the car off in Picton either.

Somewhat hassle free experience. The instructions for after hours collecting from Christchurch Airport were a little confusing but we got there in the end with help from another regular customer.

Excellent rental car company.

First time hiring a car, everything was perfect. The lady explained everything well and made sure we knew the terms and conditions. The Rav4 drove beautifully and returning the car was super easy, from returning the car to being taken to arriving at the airport took about 15 minutes. This was the first time I hired a car and I will definitely use Apex again. 5/5.

Booked a Ford Focus Trend with Apex when I visited New Zealand in March 2016 and the experience was great. The whole process of booking, driving and returning the car was excellent, no complaints. The Christchurch airport outlet is great too, they also have a shuttle to help customer get to the airport every 5 minutes or so.

The rental experience is beyond expectation, good. Picking up the car is really fast, car’s condition is good. We hit a rabbit accidentally in a night drive in Tekapo lake, which leads to a small damage to the car. When returning the vehicle, they said nothing about it. We were sorry, Apex! Recommended.

Outstanding customer service with a smooth and easy rental process, affordable cars in immaculate condition. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND Apex especially after an awful experience I had earlier in the morning with another rental company (Omega car rentals). OMEGA CAR RENTALS is by far the WORST rental company I've ever dealt with! The manager was the rudest most defensive woman I have ever dealt with. As my card was about to be swipped and the payment processed she barges in cancels the booking and says they have no car to give us even though we had an immediate booking confirmation. She then in the rudest manor starts stipulating the law about how this is completely legal and shes within her right to cancel the booking with no warning. She hardly spoke a word of English and told us to walk out and go find somewhere else, as we were tourists we had no idea where to go. She wasnt helpful in any respect when we asked if they could ring another company to see if they had anything available as we had luggage and couldn't haul it around a city we didn't know. She was the rudest, most arrogant and down right rotten person I have EVER met I can't believe she works in customer service. If I could give a negative review it would most certainly be -5 stars. I want to specifically shout out Paul from APEX CAR RENTALS he was incredibly helpful over the phone. He was appalled by the situation we were left in and promptly booked a car for us to be picked up from the airport. He gave amazing customer service and was incredibly helpful in giving us directions to the local bus station, organising a shuttle to pick us up and having everything ready for when we showed up. I highly reccomend going with APEX CAR RENTALS and strongly suggest avoiding Omega Rentals at all costs!

I am a frequent customer of Apex. Usually happy with all my car rentals with them but my recent experience was terrible because of one personnel. I was returning my car to the Christchurch Airport branch at 6.30pm on Sunday the 3/12 when the return bays were completely full. Unsure where to park the car, I left it running as I got out and started packing up my stuff. The man who drove the van (the only male staff on duty) came to me and started telling me off for stopping my car there. I told him I was genuinely unsure where to park, as the signs clearly say car returns and there were no directions on where to proceed, either on site or on the agreement. He then started to patronisingly telling me I need to follow the local rules re: parking bay. Well I am a NZ permanent resident of 10 years and I know my road rules very well, thank you very much. The fault lies on your company for not giving clear instructions on where to park the car. Fix up you employees’ attitude please, Apex, or you’ll lose a loyal customer of many years.

We got a hot deal on website. It's very great price. Car is good enough. Although we spent lots time to find the shuttle bus in airport. Staff is still friendly to tell us everything we need.

Pick up an suv from Queenstown city dropped off at Christchurch Airport, very easy & quick service, car is cleaned prior to hand over to customers which is great, only the car is rather aged, could be 3/4 years old mine got 150K km on mileage which is rather high, overall good experience

Helpful staff. Reasonable hire charge. Pick up & drop off from airport meant no stress & the drivers were personable, especially Lester! Car suited my needs perfectly.

We rented a car from Apex (admittedly their cheapest model) which had a very unnerving noise coming from the driver's wheel. Apart from that the car was clean and the paperwork was straight forward enough. Be warned that some of the staff here are pretty rude and unhelpful as my stars show.

All customers should take a exam regarding driving in NZ. It is not easy. I saw a group who failed pass the test and could not hire a car. except the test, everything is fine. good condition and kind staffs.

No issues with returning a car rented from Queenstown, though the lady checking the car could be more friendly. The driver of the free bus transfer to the airport though was very friendly and made the experience positive.

i lost my i phone from my recent trip to New Zealand and I did not know where and how i lost it. I recollected on where i last remember using my phone and decided to call the places that i have been to after that, but to no avail. A few days later, i got a call from Mr. Grant Kerwin of APEX Christchurch that they found my phone! i just received my phone a few days ago and i want to give APEX Christchurch and its team a 5 star for making this possible! Great value car rentals, tidy fleet and I can reccomend going for a full size vehicle if you intend on doing alot of KMs. The difference in price from compact to full size is minimal.Friendly helpful staff and easy booking made this another relaxed holiday.. We will definetly be a repeat customer.

We rented a car in April from Christchurch. Paid for a Subaru Liberty. When we got there, they apologised that the Liberty was unavailable. Offered a free upgrade to a Rav 4. However, our luggage wouldn’t fit in there (hence wanting the wagon). So for an extra $50 we managed to take away a Toyota Highlander which was awesome! Brand new and very clean. Easy process.

We rented an SUV. It was in great condition and ran smoothly. Ours was mostly a roadtrip around South Island, so it was a relief that we did not experience any mishap along the way. The process of getting the car and returning it was fuss-free.

We received great service from Apex in the 22 days we rent a budget car. The first 11 days we had a Mazda Demio (aka Mazda 2) with 120K+ km. We changed cars in Christchurch and took charge of another Mazda Demio with 70K+ km. On two occasions (once traveling South, the other North) Apex arranged for our ferry tickets and also covered the vehicle's portion of the ferry ticket. We never had any problems with either vehicle.

Excellent. Friendly & helpful staff. I accidentally left some possessions behind under the seats and Apex/About Rentals kindly couriered them to me at no extra cost (just the shipping fees). I am especially grateful for them doing so. Will use again. Recommended.

The car we have rented is really neat and clean. The Bluetooth system is little buggy better if they had provide aux cable too.

Do a thorough check over the car on pickup. I Hired a car from Queenstown to drive to Christchurch. Picking up the car myself and the sales lady noted a large scratch on the front, she took photos. When I dropped the car off in Christchurch the sales lady there tried to claim that the scratch had happened while I was driving the car, despite having no knowledge of the car's condition on pickup. I made her phone the Queenstown office, which she did and found that the damage was already on the car.

Actively positive service on pickup and return, with different staff. Seems like they enjoy their work and they certainly aren't afraid to smile. Well done team, service beyond our expectations.

Fortunately I have had no bad experiences with Apex Car Rental in the past. Have rented multiple times usually up to 28 days at a time. Rented out of Christchurch, Queenstown and returned to Auckland usually. The cars are generally well used but reliable. I always pay for the non-deductable insurance coverage. Last rental Oct-Nov 2015

Good fast friendly service. Probably a 19 minute wait if you miss their free airport shuttle but we got it straight away both times. Will be using Apex again.

Booked a Toyata Yaris for 14 days, we drove over 1800km and everything was great. Staff was helpful, and the shuttle bus to the airport is great. Worth the money.

Pleasant customer service, excellent quality rental cars. If you have a foreign language licence you must supply an official translation though they do have connections with a translation service.

Had an easy pick up and the booking staff were very helpful. All of the questions I had could be answered by the info on their website so I would recommend checking that thoroughly before booking.

But everyone should be careful, (especially if u from the country and holding left side driving license, they will more carefully for that (but it’s for sure,coz it’s really different when u drive and go into the circle). And we are not really following the travel plan. So, on the middle time of our travel ,I write a email for rental 3 days more. And it’s alright and suprise for they still offer the same price for me👍( it’s really good❤️) So if I go NZ again, definitely will come here again.
