I am a first time customer (having used many other rental car companies in NZ and overseas) and I was really impressed. The booking was easy and gave me many choices, I had a near new car (under 4000km) which was very clean, the staff were friendly and best of all, I obtained a very competitive rental price and comprehensive cover for a 2 week trip.

I honestly cannot recommend Ezi Car Rental Enough. The service right from the moment I book has been seamless and easy. The team at CHC Airport were super efficient, helpful and friendly. My car was perfect! It was in immaculate condition both interior and exterior. I also love that they are located at the terminal which makes pick up and drop off super easy.

Everything was super easy online. When I arrived in Christchurch, it took me about a minute to walk to the kiosk and in only about 5mins there, I was off to my rental and on my way out within 10mins of arrival. Ezi Car Rental is fantastic and I highly recommend them! I rented an SUV for a week while on the South Island, and I didn't want to give the keys back at the end of my trip! The car was practically brand new (a 2019 Toyota RAV4) and drove like a sports car. Inside and outside was spotless - it even had that "new car" smell. Can't say the same for most of the other NZ rental companies I've used, whose fleet is a bunch of old beaters with 90K+ km's on them. Ezi Car Rental offered competitive prices and had great customer service from start to finish. Thanks guys!!

It was our first time to NZ; this is from someone who has travelled extensively throughout the world and driven in cities such as London, NY, SF, LA, Singapore, Jakarta and Perth. We were skeptical at first as we thought good cars, competitive rates and reliable services come from internationally known big car rental companies (I think you know who they are without mentioning names here). Boy, were we wrong! Service at EZI was excellent, professional but friendly, rates very competitive and we got a great car; a Toyota RAV 4 with all the bells and whistles! We were even more pleasantly surprised when we found out the car came with a built-in GPS system which helped us a great deal as 3G connections were expensive and mobile coverage was not available in all areas, especially in remote locations! When we tried another car rental company (yup, one of those famous, big name car rentals), I was asked to accept another car (not the car of my choice which was supposed to be a Toyota RAV4 as I preferred the same car throughout our trips as we would have become familiar with all the controls/switches, which side the fuel inlet is located, how much luggage it fits and how it handles); apparently, my son (who is 22 years old) was not eligible to become my second driver at the big car rental company unless I paid an extra NZ$ 69 a day! (No problems with EZI though, my son became my 2nd driver at no extra cost and that helped us share the driving responsibilities/duties!). Overall, very impressed with EZI; will stick with them for all future rentals! Every time we saw another EZI Toyota RAV4 on the road, we were jealous!

I don’t see how the ‘big’ car rentals companies can compete with Ezi - they cannot be beaten for price, quality of cars, and customer service. On multiple occassions i have used they are 50% cheaper than the others, yet they are amazing! I will only ever use Ezi car when in new zealand..!

I really appreciated my modern Toyota Hybrid from Ezi, it made my trip to the Top of The South (Island) just so easy and comfortable. While there I viewed some rather ancient modes of road transport, made me appreciate our modern cars.. Easy to find the reception and finish the simple procedure. Really passionate girl at the reception! The whole trip is very amazing and perfect. Nice highlander with free gps, clean one , new car with only round 20,000km. It has large space to accommodate 4 large luggages. Also the price is also tempting when comparing to other rental companies! In all, recommend!

Very efficient check in, in 5 minutes you get the key and the car is parked at the car park. From check in to the car it's maybe 3 or 4 minutes walk. We rented the Toyota highlander. The car was new, 2018 model 12.000km, everything was working. Car status regarding cleaningless I've gotta rate 3 out of 5. There was a rotten apple at the door compartment, so it could be better. The tires were overcalibrated to 42psi when the recommended setting was lower than that (I think 36psi) so at the proper calibration place I corrected that, which made the car ride more comfortably. Regarding to car efficiency for someone who is used to ride in Europe I don't really understand why they have such big engines for NZ, mine had a V6 3.5, which you don't really need it to ride at 50 80 and 100kph, so I did feel like wasting money and polluting the beautiful environment of NZ when having an average of 9 to 10Km/L. But the rest was all cool, just refuel and enjoy. We had a ride of almost 5000km in 25 days and it was very pleasant. The return of the vehicle: very easy as well, you just park your car at the designated spots for Ezi at the same car park and leave the keys with the kind staff back at the check place again. Although next day they called me, I was already home 8000miles away, to ask when I would return the vehicle. Luckily I kept my NZ sim card and was able to answer the call... I hope they did find the vehicle after all 😂 I would love to rate 5/5 but due to the small inconveniente which could make some people really stressed out, plus the cleaning standard, I will have to rate 4/5, but I will be back in CHC and I will happily rent the car with them again.

Really had a wonderful experience with Ezi! I rented a Corolla Hatch Hybrid at Christchurch airport. The car is beautiful, clean, and like brand new. The staff was so kind to help us to amend the return time later. It couldn’t be easier to pick up and return the car like that. Definitely would rent with Ezi when I come to NZ again.

Booked a car the day before my flight. Arrived at the airport where I met a shuttle van that took me back to the rental office. Very quick process as I had prepayed. Very easy car return and a shuttle van back to the airport. Reasonably priced.

The Service was great, the car was in good condition. The staff were polite and helpful. The only reason why I gave a 4 star was because the child seat they provide are horrible. There is a lump on the back portion of the seat which will hit the kid's spine. My 5 year old complained the moment the she sat on it and then I replaced with a booster seat which was good, staff was really helpful with this. The staff said all the child seat were the same hence I got the booster one which was the right size for my daughter. If all those child seats are the same then you guys need to throw them away and buy good quality ones.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and we received the exact car we had booked even though it said it may be a similar car. There was a large scratch on the car that had not been noted, but as we had already been told at the counter to make note of and take pictures of any damage not recorded it was okay. On return we showed them the dated picture and video I had taken and we were quickly assured there would be no charge on our account. I will choose Ezi car rental in the future.

My first time using Ezi Car Rental and it was such a great experience. The car we had was a 2019 rav4 which was really comfortable, easy to drive and incredibly economical for it's size. We only paid an extra $69 to have full cover insurance for the three days of hire and an extra $15 to cover roadside assistance. Nice and cheap and provided peace of mind throughout the entire trip. The woman at the service desk was really helpful, and having the option of returning the key to an after hours kiosk was great too.

From minute one when my wife and I enquired about hiring a vehicle the service was excellent. The information that was given to us ( both verbally and by email) was second to none. The front counter staff at Christchurch Airport were welcoming and informative. The car was well presented but I would suggest that the in dash navigation system (maps etc) be updated more often following the expansions of New Zealand cities. Would I hire a car from Ezi Car Rental again?....In a heart beat. For me it was the BEST rental car experience I've had both here in Australia and New Zealand.

They were excellent from the price to the service on pick up & return to Christchurch airport. The car was the newest we have ever had & it was in good condition. Great experience with EZI in Christchurch. It was a long wait for the car pick-up but we already expected that. Very easy returning the car too. Our left wing mirror was broken and we told them that and it was no problem because we bought a "zero" problem insurance. One should always be insured so we highly recommend that to every one. You never know what could happen on the road even if you are a careful driver. Would definitely highly recommend them! Friendly Staffs!

It was a great experience with Ezi Car Rental. I booked the car rental via Flight Center. After landing in Christchurch, it's very easy to find the service desk inside the airport. To collect the car was so simple and smooth, only to provide booking number and driving license. The staff there were very helpful and friendly. The car is very new and clean and at a reasonable price. Returning the car couldn't be easier, just gave them the key and I am done.

Great car, got a free upgrade even - much better value than the other car hire companies we looked at over the summer period. Service from Ezi was friendly and helpful. Only thing I’d say is that the check in process was a bit slow (about 15-20 min... and pretty painful being asked to watch a 6 min video on driving in NZ when you’ve had a UK drivers licence for 10+ years - I know the roads are a bit “different” but the stuff in that video is the absolute basics and hardly useful!).

We had a very good experience with Ezi Car Rental in Christchurch. We booked a Nissan sedan for 15 days in advance. On arrival to pick up the car we were offered an upgrade to a Toyota RAV4 at no extra cost. Perfectly new model which was a pleasure to drive. Drive out , Drive in, handing was a pleasure- smooth and Ezi no fuss, quick and short. You can get pretty much the same car for the 1/2 price. Get to pick up and drop the car off at the airport carpark just like other major rental company. You don’t have to take a shuttle and waste extra 10 min each way. Just take the key at the terminal counter, walk over to the carpark, then drive away. Cars are also fine, clean and nothing wrong with it. Don’t know how they manage to be significantly cheaper.

We hired a car through Ezi Car for 15 days. On arrival at Christchurch airport we were greeted by a lovely lady at the desk. The process was quick and easy and she ensured we had a car with GPS as this was our first time in New Zealand. We received a Toyota Corolla that was nearly brand new. The car travelled well and was great on fuel which was a bonus considering the cost of petrol in NZ. Return of the vehicle was easy and no problems occurred at any stage. We were very happy with hire charge as well. We would definitely use Ezi Car again.

Great car, but extremly slow service at front desk. Should not be necessary to use 20 minutes for each customer when all is booked and paid for in advance. They demand international drivers license, or they will charge you big time to translate yours. Stay away from the prepaid fuel option, unless you manage to empty the tank completely. The company is serious, if they work out how to give customers a better experience I would use them again.

Recently hired a Toyota Prado. 5 people with suitcases and 2 ski bags. Car was incredibly roomy and had racks to accommodate our ski gear. Was worried it would cost a fortune in gas but was pleasantly surprised to find after a week of driving around Chch and through to My Hutt and back it only cost us $50 worth of diesel to refill!! So economical!! Would definitely hire again thanks!!

Car was modern and in good condition, though not perfect - some scratches and had obviously been driven down dusty roads - but this was noted on the condition report. I needed to change the dropoff time and this was done very simply with a phonecall, and confirmation e-mail that the change had been made. Overall a great experience and a very reasonable price.

I looked into several different operators for cheaper options (which can be found) but they all involved getting in a shuttle to transfer to pick up the car and mucking around. I would happily hire through Ezi again - straight off the plane, easy to find just as you walk through the arrivals hall - I had the car keys before my husband had our luggage. Walked through to the parking lots and we were off. Toytoa Corolla - new, clean - excellent over the windy roads to Akaroa. Easy drop off. Note: to those considering staying at Commodore Airport Hotel - plenty of parking there - enjoyed our stay but best find a service station the night before if you can, as did not see one between the very short distance of the hotel and the airport to refuel before drop off so needed to pay this through Ezi. Have to say though - expected worse, NZ fuel runs at around $2.35 per litre - Ezi will charge you $3.50 which is normal and fair enough I thought. Thanks Ezi - happy to recommend.

We rented a car from Ezi car rentals for our 17 day South island trip. Everything went fine until the country went into lockdown. Only six days into our trip we had to suddenly change all our plans and go back home to Auckland. What was amazing that all accommodation providers, airlines and tourism companies all offered either a refund or credit in this incredibly difficult time, including bookings that were stated as non-refundable. All except this one heartless company. We pleaded with Ezi multiple times to at least give us credit on some of the 11 unused days, but all we got were two emails saying the decision had come from management that no refunds or credit would be given on any rental bookings. We're now over $500 out of pocket. This serves as a warning to all. Edit: star rating changed as per below.

Hired a car from Ezi car rentals, the service at check in was good, nice and polite staff. However the car was old and in a scratch up condition, kms on it. The car struggled on hills even tho my foot was fully down on the pedal and it was an automatic. During the trip we could only open the car with key in the door the manual way as the battery in the key ran out. We also tried to call them to extend the car for 1 day but took 4 times to get through. After dropping the car off I received an invoice 4 hours later stating full inspection surly this should have been done before sending the invoice? I would not use them again due to the aging cars they use.

You're so dumb if you don't book your car here. I have never seen or experienced this much of freedom as a customer for booking through Chile, Iceland and Finland. It's super easy to book, or change / cancel the booking without any fee. Furthermore, check-in/out time was very flexible, like I could literally go at 5am to get/return the car(my original schedule was that but unfortunately my wife's flight had a problem, I explained them and they changed my rental period "ezily" to 5pm) The price, you will never find this cheapest hybrid car in New Zealand because I tried for a few days lol. Nice new car and the rental rate was great. Only negative comments are that the agent at the counter wanted me to sign the car inspection form before I'd seen the car (who would do that?). She told me they were "short on staff" out in the rental pick up area, so I had to go out and find "my car" and walk around it and inspect it to find there were 2 big scratches on the hood that weren't marked on the form I was given. Then I had to go back into the terminal to hand the inspection form in. Too much back and forth after 15 hour flight!!

This meant i had to return to the Ezi car desk in the airport to have it documented (or I suspect I would have likely been held responsible and asked to pay the repair costs). Very quick and easy process returning the car where we just handed over the keys, but the process getting the car just takes too long, even when the vehicle is pre-booked online. Time to upgrade IT systems to allow for all the paperwork to be done online, then when customers arrive to pick up the car it should just be a matter of providing a reference number and some identification.

Your Rav 4 performed for us very well, but there are some things you probably should look at: 1. The car, when we got it, had had more hit than Elvis. Every panel is scratched our damaged in some way. I photographed them all before leaving the parking lot. You really ought to get a professional car finisher to polish some of the marks out. The vehicle will present much better that way. 2. The vehicle was filthy we we got it! While the outer panels were slightly clean, every shut line and door inner was absolutely putrid, and whomever cleans your cars should do it without the blind fold. For the 1st 3 days that we got out of the thing our clothes got filthy from rubbing up against the dirt inside the door shut lines, and especially under the boot hatch. Conveniently located in the Airport terminal (yay, no shuttle bus!), with the cars just outside. Pick up was fairly simple (we had pre-booked) and quick and the drop off was just a key drop, as we were leaving early in the morning. The car (RAV4) was in great condition and clean. I arrived on July 14 and my online booking was spurned by another agency because my credit card name did not match the booking name. I was stranded with a sick mother waiting for me in another town. Easy to collect from Christchurch airport, and even easier to return with an automated key drop kiosk. Their discount petrol offer (you take the car with a full tank and bring it back as empty as possible) was great, and actually heavily discounted (about 50c/L cheaper than the roadside price in NZ). Rented Rav4 (2WD) for the both north and south island trip. The car was spacious (comfortable for 3 person), new and in good condition. Pick up and drop off was easy and fast. Will definitely rent from Ezi Car again the next time I go to NZ.

The rental car we had was excellent- very tidy which made for a nice trip the car was easy to find in the car park as it was all very well signposted. The only let down was upon arrival to the ezi car rental desk to pick up he keys to our scheduled rental, the young lady serving us was extremely rude and unfriendly. Usually thsi type of thing I would let slide however when you are paying that amount to rent a car you would expect at least a simple hello from the counter... Otherwise definitely recommend to rent from them, competitive prices and cars in great condition.

Well for a start that happened to be near 2 o'clock in the morning or have asked one I got the keys to make our went outside to look for car it was pitch black you can make out the colours of cars was not told what& colour walk down the row of cars pressing that off key to open the car I'm afraid I walked up and down twice got no response from any car went back inside young lady come out pressed a button as well she got no response but she remembered the colour of the car so she went to the car and I think she opened the car with the key and then she could press the button and it worked there I found if I did not slam the boot pretty hard the key lock wouldn't work otherwise and also when I tried to pass cars inside the speed limit it seemed to drop down to 2nd gear straight away and the motor used to scream its head off until I got past the car and it kicked off again and went to the right speed gear should I say. The tires on the front of the car were just barely on the limit so I don't know why you don't rotate the tires otherwise I found the car okay for a new car

However circumstances change with of flight being cancelled so had to extend rental time for a day. Multiple phone calls but no answer. No human answered. We were surprised to find the key return so far past the check in. We had to look for it then return to the check in counter. We were very early in the morning so out of opening hours. Perhaps there is another system during opening hours. Other companies had kiosks in the carpark. The car itself was great and the process relatively easy. Some waiting at pick up but that is expected. The first GPS we received didn't work, but the Queenstown crew happily replaced it. It wasn't the best though, I had to press the screen quite firmly and it couldn't find some places we wanted. Overall we were happy though.

We rented a Toyota Highlander. Vehicle was in great condition at 12K when we picked it up. Their range of Toyota(s) were the GXL Varient. With 4 adults,It was able to fit 4x Large & 3x small in the boot(Rear view not blocked) considering we moved the rear seat 2 notch forward. Though for a comfortable ride, I would suggest 4x large and 1x small in the boot only as we did except to the airport for our flight. The staff did not offer us an upgrade as do the other rental car companies. Do remember to ask as we would have definitely paid for the Kia Carnival for it's better mileage, it runs on Diesel(Approx: NZ$1.58/L) as compared to Highlander's Unleaded 91(Approx: NZ$2.20/L). Though, NZ's roads are very steep. (approx 30 degrees slope was common ) The Highlander was just alright to climb steep slopes. Would definitely recommend Highlander if not for the fuel prices. Comfort quality is high and drive quality (Not maintenance issue/something EZI can fix. Just a review on the Car's model) is as you would expect from a Japanese mid tier car only. (Steering play on high speed as comparing to a BMW 5 Series/Volvo S80) P.S Fuel prices are reflected as an average for our trip on south island during end apr- early may 2018. Prices will vary based on your travel times/Economy. We averaged around 10.5L/100km

But I and I experience it from other people at the desk were surprised that the driving license had to be translated for 50 NZD and the seconds drivers license aswel. That's 100 NZD after traveling whole day, flying etc. That made me very miserable. Walking away without the car. A day later I had to rent it anyway. But Car-rental I like to advice you, make it more clear that the driving license has to be translated for that price.

My plane was delayed for three hours. Ezi Can Rental computer system locked my booking because I failed pick the car on time. I had to take taxi to hotel at night (2 AM) and come back to the airport the next morning to pick the car. Plane delaying is very common. I hope Ezi Car Rental could fix this problem, not making the same trouble to any customers in the future.

Good points: 1. Operator coached me with online booking. 2. Price booked online competitive as opposed with booking through operator. 3. The receptionist in Chch had a pleasant and warm manner, which made me receptive to her advice, which I also noticed with the phone operator, once I got over her Indian accent but only because I thought my call was being shunted through to a call centre in India. The guy in Auckland also had an Indian accent. Not their problem, more my own prejudices getting in the way not because of who they are but because of my interactions with actual Indian based Call Centres that have not gone well. 4. Really simple process once booked and once I got over the $40 premium fee in Chch but I now understand why. 5. I chose the fuel pre-purchase fuel option but it was a bit “touch’n go” who would be the winner in this. I think you guys came out as winners on this one but it did make the drop off easier for me in this instance. Points to work on: 1. Price quoted by the operator in Auckland different to the one quoted in Christchurch. In the end the price online was different to both of them, cheaper and a better car. Woohoo, I won that one. 2. Rang once and got cut off because someone interrupted her phone conversation while I was talking to her in Chch trying to extract the correct information for booking. Not a big issue but worth mentioning it as I was booking a rental from Melbourne. Overall I was more than happy with your services. I used SNAP when I was last in Chch in May, so I am able to benchmark your business and this is probably the third or fourth time I have used you. Take care Pierre

Good counter service on arrival, easy ro locate. We were five persons with 6 large cases and many small hand carries, the Kia Carnival swallowed the people and gear very adeptly. Driving through some twisty mountain roads in the South island, impreesed with the handling too. The criticism would be that the car was insufficiently tidy, dirtied seats, to the level expected of normal car rental standard. The counter staff offered to have the car exchanged but mentioned that all the Kias at Christchurch depot at the time were all of the same messiness. So we didn’t bother to take the time to change.

Booked a 2wd SUV on line two months before we started our holiday in South Island. When we went to pick up the car, the staff recommended us to upgrade to a four wheel drive car by paying $200 extra as some other customer did not show up for that "four wheel drive" car. We took the advice and paid extra 200 bucks for the upgrade. The document showed the car is 4WD. The car is Toyota Highlinder and we did not check the car as I purchased no stress cover. We did not realise that the car is actually a "AWD" i.e. all wheel drive car until I saw the "AWD" logo at the back of the car 3 days later. Called the Christchurch office to clarify as I dont believe AWD is a real four wheel drive, i.e. 4WD and the info presented to me was misleading when I was advised to upgrade the car. The male staff told me that AWD is 4WD and they have given me the right car. I asked to talk to the manager, I was told that the manager wont be back until Monday then he just hanged me up. Really disappointed by the rude services and misleading info provided. Thanks EZI customer services team for the prompt reply, although Google Review did not notify me when there is a response and I cannot reply to the response as well. As I think EZI customer services team has done the right thing to solve the issue, so now I feel more confident to refer EZI to friends and other people. Good job.

Everything about this was indeed easy except that my plane was late & when I got to the desk there was a note saying “Back in 15 minutes” but it did not say when the 15 minutes started. Otherwise I would have given this firm 5 stars. I will definitely use them again.

Great car, service etc but the car turned out not to be fill of fuel. Cost $12 more for fuel on pickup. Drove to destination, filled up and drove back and filled up. Used $12 less fuel.

Everything was great except the old tyres. One of them bursted on the second day. I think we were lucky that nothing else happend. And I was happy that the police came around and called ezi to explain that we need four new tyres. The were changed on the next day on account of ezi. Finally we just lost one day of our holiday.
