D.We hired a Nissan Tiida for 2 weeks travel around the South Island. $700 with no excess was about $1000 less then competitors (although an older model car). It wasn't the Mustang I would have loved for all those twisting mountain roads but overall we could not have been more satisfied with the car and the service from Omega. Excellent value for money and the car was reliable, had great boot space and was nippy enough with no external indication that it was a rental. I would recommend Omega if you are travelling round NZ South Island.

I will not have enough words to describe this hospitality for which the Kiwis are renowned. When I had a flat tire, while I was getting my luggage down from the trunk two guys stopped, and they changed the wheel, then left so quickly that I didn't have time to thank them. It's amazing !!
You have a very very beautiful country, with very welcoming inhabitants, and being confined six weeks to Opononi during levels 4 and 3 was more of a dream than a nightmare !!

C.A year ago we hired from Omega in Queenstown and the car was very reasonably priced but we got what we paid for! Missing hub caps, radio we couldn't get to work, and generally really tired.
This year we opted to pay more and booked well ahead for a 2 year old Corolla. I checked many other companies and it was the cheapest and best value. A few months later I looked on line at their rates for the same hire and they were $55 cheaper. I emailed them and they readily reduced the price. Thank you Omega.
The car was great. Excellent condition and brilliant value. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
We will definitely use them again....and will check their price again closer to actual hire date in case it is lower than when we booked.

Lady that worked at Christchurch branch is a real asset to the company. A lasting impression left on me was that she kept saying "Don't worry 'bout it". Sounded like a cliche` at the time and it still makes me laugh, but it should be the company motto.

S.I thought I had reviewed them for their amazing and friendly service but my bad. I had twice used their car rental services, once at the time of Christmas and New Year's and second time in month of July. The first time as it was peak time of the year, while researching came across Omega rentals and their prices seemed to be much cheaper than the others. So I booked Toyota Corolla online and went to the Chch city office, where I was greeted by a lady and she was informative and friendly. Booked it from Christchurch and drop-off at Auckland, dropped at picton and picked up again at Wellington city as the ferry cost wasn't included. I was amazed with the car's (Corolla) mint condition inside-out at that price. Second time had booked Rav4 (SUV) again with Omega becoz of cheaper price and friendly service with easy pickup & drop-off service. The Rav4 (SUV) was mint and had done less than 30k, so pretty much new at that price. Both the time had received special FB discount, thanks to Belinda. My overall experience was great, good quality cars and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend and use their rental service again, Cheers team Omega 👍😇.
P.I was very happy with the Car, and Alana was a fine representative for your company. Friendly and knowledgeable, and was there at the office at the appointed time (I didn't know beforehand but the Chch central office only opens for appointments at the moment). Though (and I guess because) not a new car, the price was very reasonable, and I will happily hire another from Omega.
D.Omega are very reasonable on their hire Charges. I was very happy with the service. The Toyota hatch was about 5 years old. There was a lot of scratches all over the body, this did not effect the 3 weeks we did Traveling around the South Island of New Zealand and we pretty much covered the whole South Island. Great Company I will use them again in all my up and coming holidays
M.I would definitely hire from Omega again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a vehicle.. We picked up our car at the city location in Christchurch and were impressed at how careful they were in ensuring that we knew the rules of the road in NZ (very similar to Canada except the no turns at red lights) and signage. The lady accepting us then did a very thorough walk through of our vehicle with us and made sure everything was accounted for before we left the garage. There was no extra charge for a second driver - something that other companies add for unknown reasons... We used a different company (shall remain nameless) out of the Auckland airport and were not nearly as satisfied.
M.I've used Omega rentals many times in New Zealand and enjoy the service and contact with Joey from Christchurch! She's incredibly social, and always helps with questions and finds me the best deal.
On this occasion, we had a problem with the car "falling apart" (economy rental) - the rear view mirror, and some other interior issues as well as the blinker - and one of the other staff in Christchurch helped us swap over the car to a better one at no additional charge. Good to know we are in safe, reliable hands and no scheming going on. Will continue to rent from them in the future!

O.Car was good size for us as we needed a comfortable car for travelling for 21 days from South Island to North Island. We were able to take car on ferry where a lot of hire companies dont allow that. They also booked our ferry tickets for us, which made life easier for us. Car very reliable as we travelled over 2,500 km when we handed car over we were told it was going to be serviced before renting out again. The staff in Christchurch and Auckland were very friendly and helpful. Would use Omega next time travelling to NZ.

T.Best rental company I have ever used. They had the best price, were honest, had a hotline that was on the ball when I needed to ask a mechanical question about the car, and they were flexible when we needed to change our dates. Also they didn't try to find faults when we returned the car, as one of the bigger companies in the UK tried to do. I highly recommend them.
A.Great service. The people could not have been more helpful and friendly. Would definitely use them again. Got a rental car at a competitive price and the pick-up and return process was stressless. Car had some minor blemishes and scratches on the outside but they were upfront and honest about that and it didn’t matter one bit because it was a great price and served its purpose of getting around for 9 days. A new mint condition hire car is way too much pressure. Thanks heaps.
G.Picked the Corolla Sedan up about 20 minutes early without any problems. The features of the car were explained to me except how to open the petrol cap. Thankfully the lever was located in a place similar to a previous car I'd owned so was easy to find. The car was around the age expected and handled well. Apart from a flat battery, lights left on for about 15-20 minutes by mistake, we had no issues with the car. Omega were easy to deal with and the return process at Christchurch airport was easy. The shuttle at the end of our 10 day hire was appreciated.

Picked the car up in Christchurch city and dropped off at the airport office (5 mins from airport entrance). No problems at either end. M.We hired a Nisan Tilda for 1 month to travel from the south island to the north. The booking was easy on line and communication was very good. We took the car with us to the North Island and they also booked the ferry for us which was great and hassle free. There was no extra fee to leave the car at the North Island. We requested an extra day hire to our vehicle which was easy and just paid an other day hire for this. The car was comfortable as we where traveling with 3 adults and 3.5 suite cases. It managed very well driving the winding roads and hills. It was very good value for money and we would be definitely use Omega Car rentals again.
R.Very Professional and Highly Recommend
Overall Omega Car Rental exceeded my expectations. We’ve had some bad experiences with some car rentals in the past, but these guys were a different kettle of fish. The Chinese lady who served us in the Christchurch City office was very good and gave us no hassle with a hard sell with their extra insurance. The process was very slick and professional. The car, although not the exact model we had booked, was excellent, clean and we never had a problem for the entire two weeks. The drop off at Picton branch was just as professional with the smiley guy in the office already having our next car collection and instructions in Wellington organised. We even Had them run us to the ferry terminal, which was handy with suitcases. The next car was waiting for us at the quayside in Wellington and was exactly the same car (a white RAV4) but this time a much newer model.
L.The 2nd time we have rented a car from Omega. Great cars, great value and the staff are friendly and helpful. No hidden fees or costs. A tip for overseas travellers - don't book through a third party - ring Omega directly to avoid a security deposit . Also if you book through a third party and something happens (like a broken windscreen) - you have to pay the upfront cost and then provide all the paperwork to your booking agent before you get reimbursed. So go directly to Omega's website to book.
T.Fantastic company to deal with and the car Quality was outstanding. No hassle on pick up or drop off. We opted for the GOLD cover and that made life even easier as we didn't have to worry about deposits and noting any scratches - just had to make sure the car was in great shape on return!

A.This was the first time I've hired a car, but I've heard some horror stories, so I made sure I found a company through a friend's recommendation. Omega lived up to the recommendation - they were way cheaper than any other hire company (apart from ones with terrible reviews), we didn't have to put down a ridiculously high deposit (like the big ones, Thrifty etc.) and everything was plain sailing. Excellent car, great customer service and easy pick-up and drop-off. I'll definitely use Omega again when I come back to NZ!
M.We had a great driving trip around New Zealand thanks in no small way to the great service we got from Omega. Staff were very helpful to our needs and even refunded a day's hire in the North Island when we needed to hand in the car early and added a day to our booking for South Island with out any questions asked. D.very good. Rented car for five months for long term visit and got a very good deal. Car was several years old with a few minor scratches, but for a fraction of the price of some of the other rental firms. This was their long term budget rental option as opposed to their newer models - however was exactly what I wanted and needed at a great price. Staff in office in both downtown christchurch and airport was great, especially Joe in the downtown office. Would definitely use again.
K.We rented the least exspensive car available, and received a 5 yr old Nissan with 146K on it. Performed admirably for 10 days, but I was constantly worried about a rear tire that was very worn. All ended well, no mechanical problems.

D.The pick up process was good and we were kindly allowed to change our pick up time to 2 hours earlier at short notice. The car was brilliant and we did many miles all around South Island of New Zealand. Only down side was only one of the tires had full air pressure and one had 15lbs of pressure, only half what it should have been when we picked it up.
E.Ultra friendly service, reasonable pricing. Would recommend spending the little bit extra on the gold insurance as it made dropping the car off a breeze. That said, I can’t imagine it would have been a difficult process if anything had happened to the car.

I did not experience their on the emergency road services in terms of efficiency and quality because I did not have mechanical problems during the usage.
Only downside is that its office is not located at major railway stations or airports which helps travelers pick or drop cars.
K.When our travel plans changed suddenly, we needed to hire a car in a real hurry. Omega Christchurch City were fantastic: we were driving away literally in minutes. The car handled the Port Hills with ease and dropping the car back later was even easier. I’m very happy to recommend these guys for fast and friendly service.
S.No issues at all, the car did the job all around NZ and even made it to the top of steepest street in Dunedin (world) without flipping backwards. Staff were brilliant and very flexible. Great rates as well, recommended.

F.I hired three different cars in total and overaĺl i had a good experience.
On the North Island my first car died because the battery was too old. After calling the AA I went back to the office and immediately got a new car. The Service was great! Glad that I was still in Auckland though... when I gave it back in Wellington I even got a ride back to the City Center.
To not pay the ferry I got another car in Picton. The staff was very friendly and even gave me two options of cars.
After a few weeks in Christchurch I got a new one there. Over the next days I sometimes had trouble starting the car and I was a little worried, but without an actual problem the AA couldn't help. In the end it worked though and I got everywhere safely.
Overall the Service was great, the price good and the cars old but alright.

S.Good service, we had to made several changes to our order and had no problem. We took the car in Christchurch and returned it in Auckland without extra fee. We also returned the car 1 day earlier (with proper notice) and got a refund for that day. Highly recommend.

A.I've been happily renting vehicles from Omega a few times each year since 2007. Usually it's just for running about town but recently I rented a car for a longer trip around the South Island. The car was great and the trip trouble free. I've always enjoyed great service from the team at the downtown Christchurch depot and the cars are always just right for the job at hand. Although they are not brand new they are always well serviced and come at the right price. On one occasion an electric window failed and I got a replacement vehicle instantly. The service is always friendly and accommodating and I can't recommend Omega enough.
T.Genuinely can't fault these guys. The cars aren't in general super luxurious, they might be slightly older and may have a few scratches (you know, like a normal car) but they are pretty cheap, even their additional insurance is reasonable (which is rare), pickup was easy (even though I was late) and drop off was smooth even though I used their out of hours service which is a third party parking agent.
We opted for a guaranteed 2014 model which cost slightly more but the 1800cc automatic (manuals practically don't exist in NZ) Corolla sedan never skipped a beat and we did some pretty serious mileage in some pretty varied weather.
Would definitely recommend and will definitely use again when we return to NZ as I think we have fallen in love with the place...

q.Inexpensive car rental for new Zealand. Service was friendly and the car good. The cars are older than in the larger agencies and ours has various scratches, but was clean and had no issues that effected us. Great mileage on the small car.
f.I got a 2011 Nissan Tiida with approx 78500 km on it. The car is in excellent condition and no problem at all during my 12 days trip. Both pick up and return service are fast. After returning the car, they provide immediately transfer to airport. Very good service. I highly recommend Omega Rental Car for traveler.

A.Easy to deal with and the car (daily budget) was surprisingly good! We especially liked that it's not marked as a hire car. There was a small issue with the wipers but they had a look and replaced them immediately.
Only reason for not giving 5 stars is for the lack of parking available, makes picking up and returning the car tricky as its in a maze of one way streets. That said they do offer a pick up for you which will make things easier.
I would use again.

K.Rented a Nissan for nine days from Nelson to Christchurch in March 2013. Great service at pickup and drop off and the car was quite satisfactory. Excellent value as it gave us access to tramping areas where there is no shuttle/bus available at a comparable price. This is the fourth time we have used Omega and will be back again.

Rented again from Omega - I think a total of eight times now. As always the service was fast, efficient and friendly in Christchurch. The car (Nissaan Tiida) was perfect for our needs over 18 days. While the cars are not new, they are in very good condition and well prepared. No issues during our rental and Omega give great value for money.

B.Excellent service both with clear and honest information when I was considering hiring; an efficient polite and helpful manner when I picked the car up; honest and reliable advice when I had a concern during the hire and the most speedy and straightforward drop off - and thank you for finding my glasses left in the hire car and returned just before we left.
The car was a ubiquitous Corolla hatchback in silver. Silky six-speed automatic gearbox, enough space for our rather excessive luggage in the back with the rear seats down (and if we had used smaller cases I'm sure we could have left those seats up), radio/cd player, bluetooth phone connection, cruise control (although I didn't like that much) and plenty of pull from a willing engine. The car had 45,000 miles on the clock when I picked it up and 50,000 when I dropped it off (thank goodness the contract was for unlimited mileage). The car was clean and appeared to be well maintained. It never gave us the slightest cause for concern. All this for a very reasonable price.

A.Very cheap company, friendly and helpful service. They allow hire without credit card which is amazing for someone like me! They guy at the depot in Christchurch put snow chains in my car just in case I needed them and said he'd only charge me for hiring them if I had to use them, which I thought was really kind of him. Would definitely use the company again.

It looked like a stolen/recovered car to me.rusty large stone chips/dents, lacquer peeling off of the roof and tailgate, scrapes and what looked like keying down the side? It was a Toyota vitz (yaris) and had a digital fuel gauge, so when I was told that the car was full of fuel and to bring it back full which is fine but I had done around 5kms after collection and the gauge dropped a notch so wasn't actually full atall. Apart from the fact it wasn't particularly clean either... I will say I handed the car back cleaner than when I got it and whilst washing the car noticed two of the tires were borderline leagle. I thought that sort of thing gets checked everytime the car gets hired? Maby not?
Thank goodness the car was actually reliable and had good economy. Like I've said, it was cheap and you get what you pay for I guess.

I rent a Mazda Premacy car but only on day 2 while we were driving we heard some noise coming from one of the back wheels. We found that on one tire three screw nods were gone and one screw was broken by half. This issue could be fatal if the wheel would drop while we were driving. We managed to find one repair shop to fix the issue. While the technician removed the tire from our car, I saw the inner parts of the car was covered by lots of mud which means the car maintenance was poorly done. Luckily the repairing didn't delay our trip much.
On the last day I encountered another issue that the car lock couldn't be locked. After trying a few times, I managed to fix the problem.
Low price is good, however, I do suggest Omega do proper check before passing the car to customer especially in New Zealand many places have no repair shops.
T.Great service from start to finish. Had no complaints at all. We had a '08 Mazda Demio and drove all over the lower South Island for 2 weeks without missing a beat. Of course the car was rougher than what you'd get if you went to Avis or Europcar etc but it was exceptionally cheaper than those companies. I would use Omega again.
d.First class from booking, collection to return. Straight forward to deal and great value. Special thanks in raising the issue of the ferry and it’s booking . The car, a 4 year old Crolla , was excellent . A final mention to the return team at Auckland. No waiting, no issues and a friendly coach driver, dropped us at International departure.
I.We collected our car in the city a lady gave us the low down of the conditions and before we knew it we were on the road. Car was excellent enough room for luggage and us (2 people)
Half way we decided to return the car to the airport instead of city so I rang them and spoke to Joseph, told me it was no problem and emailed me the address.
If you want to rent a car without hassles rent it from Omega nothing is to much trouble. Dropped the car of and was taken to airport terminal with a courtesy bus. Thanks guys this was my second experience with many more to come.

Towards the end of a 3 week Omega trouble free car hire in the South Island we lost the car key in Blenheim and were locked out of the car with all our luggage inside.
After contacting Omega at Picton, they had us back on the road with a spare key within an hour. When we returned the car to Christchurch, we paid a replacement key fee (understandably) by credit card, but they assured us they would refund this if the lost key was eventually handed in. We were delighted when they advised us a day later that the key had been recovered and the charges would be repaid. Great service Omega, thanks.
C.Excellent service, and great rates as well. The car i got wasn't any thing special but cause i was on my own was perfect. Car worked as it should. Only downside the radio head unit was a little dated so to use my phone for music i needed to a 3.5m to 3.5m cable which isn't included. No biggy a quick stop at a Pak'n Save and $7 later made my trip a whole lot more fun. Would highly recommend lots of different cars for different needs.

D.Rented small car for three weeks from Christchurch Airport - glad the Omega shuttle collected us from the Sudima hotel as the rain was heavy. The rain made inspection difficult but when we reported a minor problem the next day Omega cheerfully provided a replacement car. After dropping the car we had a few hours before our flight and the shuttle dropped us at the Antarctic Centre which is great and has large luggage lockers.

D.Hired a little Mazda 2 (the Japanese import equivalent) and drove from Christchurch to Auckland taking 18 days to do so. Car was a great little machine, did everything we asked of it without missing a beat. My only negative about the car is that it would be good if they changed the radio/ CD headsets as they were all in Japanese, the radio range was limited and therefore you could rarely get a station and there was no Aux plug. All round NZ without music was not cool!
That was the only negative, collection of the car was easy and simple, and they even booked the inter-island ferry for us. Drop off was even simpler, we had an early morning flight so were going to drop it off the afternoon prior. They offered to pick it up from the motel in the morning. All we had to do was leave the keys in reception.
Great company and would definitely deal with them again.

I.Omega provided me with a Nissan Tiida for a ten day drive around the South Island . The car was in excellent condition, customer service was friendly and it was a great value deal.
I recommend Omega and would certainly use them again.
P.We were travellers from Malaysia who had rented a Camry from Omega from the period of 16/4/2017 to 28/4/2017. We felt that the car provided was fantastic and it was really comfortable driving the car in South land of New Zealand. We loved it.
Apart from that, the thing we would say that it was pretty bad was the service by the receptionist in Christchurch city office on 16/4/2017 - the day we obtained the car. She was not being professional during her service of explaining the important notes regarding this rental;
1. We were being promised through phone call that we would be picked up from north south holiday park in Christchurch. In the end we had to arrange transports ourselves to Omega and when we tried to talk the problems to her, she refused to apologise and uttered that it was not her fault.
2. She did not explain many things until we asked her about the car rental. For example, the insurance or the loss of key. As we are merely travellers we would expect her to explain clearly the rules of your country terms and conditions.
3. Worst, she told us to return our car at Christchurch airport. As we were returning the car quite late (which is non working hours), we could not even contact anyone at that time to solve this problem. She did not explain to us how the car should be returned, which was apparently not in Christchurch airport but at air park canterbury. We then had to run around at the airport to ask for help and we almost missed our flight as we needed to drive our car to that place and took the shuttle van back to the airport.
All in all, the facilities provided were amazing except for the mentioned comments that should be improved.
C.After some research, we chose to rent a car from Omega for our 3 week tour of the South island and we are so happy we did! The deciding factor for choosing Omega was the opportunity (with 48 hours notice) to extend or shorten our rental period as the whim took us. The other deciding factor was price--the rates were super reasonable for a slightly older car (and why would you want to risk damaging a nicer car on the roads in NZ anyway?). We were throughly satisfied with our Nissan Tiiida--it handled well, got great gas mileage (40-45 MPG--this is an important factor to take into consideration given the cost of fuel in NZ), amd it was innocuous (didn't scream "here comes a tourist!"). And we were really impressed by the customer service! We booked a car at least a couple of months in advance, but then about a month before our trip I realized we would prefer a car with a trunk vs a hatchback (since we would be leaving all of our earthly possessions in the car at trailheads and thought a trunk may be more private and secure)--so I asked them to update our reservation accordingly, which they did cheerrfully. Then a few weeks before our trip I noticed that the rate for the daily rental of our car had gone down from when we reserved it and when I asked, they cheerfully reduced our rate too. Picking up the car in Christchurch was a breeze and dropping it off in Picton was even easier--the drop off point isnt right at the ferry terminal but they (again, cheerfully) drove us and our luggage over there. And they didnt hold us responsible for a mysterious crack that showed up on our windshield after a cold night early on in our trip. We hadn't noticed a flaw in the windshield when we originally picked the car up, but the guys in Picton determined that there had been a spot that had been fixed that subsequently cracked and said they couldn't charge us for that. We appreciate it!

l.We booked the car for just over two weeks and travelled approx 3000klms.
We got a puncture that turned out to be a shredded tyre. We replaced it at a cost to us of $180 and was later told we would not be reimbursed. However I was able to negotiate to get half the money back. I would recommend anyone else in this situation purchase a cheap replacement tyre.
Our car developed a mechanical problem in Wellington, we contacted Omega once on the ferry and they directed us to the Picton depot. We were given a replacement car exactly the same model and was on our way within an hour or so.
These cars are good value for money, the Omega team were pleasant to interact with. I would definitely use them again.

The staff at the Office on Litchfield St Christchurch were very helpful, polite and very thorough when checking the car for any damage prior to our use, The shuttle from the airport office to the actual airport was a bonus when we dropped it back.
C.We were not given helpful information on phoning the company directly, but received better information with email, thank you Josh. The car we collected was a junker, old and although was very clean, still smelled of smoke, and there wasn't a 'don't smoke' sign in the car. It was not full of fuel, and we were told just to fill to the approximate level once our journey was completed. That was a little different to do.
All in all - very ordinary experience with Omega car rentals.

H.Only one problem. I returned the car to Christchurch Airport depot at 5.00pm only to be told that the last shuttle departed at 4.30pm. This meant a taxi drive at my expense ($34) to return to the airport. When you opt to deliver after hours, there is a pop up on the website informing this will incur a $30 after hours charge. The same information should pop up regarding the last shuttle to the airport and the likely charge if this is missed. Sure, there was a bit of paper explaining this alongside the hard copy of the contract, but when you deal on line then the hard copy has little relevance..
Otherwise, a good company to deal with and a value for money vehicle was provided which met our needs.
N.We hired a family station wagon for 2 weeks in January. We expected a previa (2WD) but as that vehicle was not available we were offered an upgrade to a Subaru Legacy (AWD) for the same price. The car had 178,000 km on the clock and a few scratches and minor dents, but was good for the price and drove beautifully for the 2,500 km of our trip around the South Island. The car was ready on time for pick up, Staff were prompt, friendly and helpful. We went away with the feeling that Omega wanted to keep us as customers and we will certainly hire from them again on the next trip.

M.I hired a Nissan Tiida for 70 days for a good price/value in Auckland. I pointed out that the car they gave me would soon need service (82 000 kms) and they said yes, in about a month approximately, but gave me this car anyways. It was not made clear to me what I should do when the service was due, which is why I thought that I had to pay for the service but I called them again (at this time I was in Nelson) and they told me that I had to come and switch to another car. So I drove to their office in Nelson where I had to transfer all my camping and travel stuff into the new car. This car was much older (~142000 kms) and the appearance was accordingly. Also with this car, as with the one I got in Auckland, the cover inside the trunk was broken, but I pointed this out in AKL and was given a new one, which I now transferred to the new car. Both cars were very clean when I received them. The first pulled to the left and the cambelt always made a loud and constant noise, which continued to get worse day by day. The new car also had that noise issue, but it wasn't too bad. The brakes should be checked, though.
I returned the car in Christchurch. Besides the miscommunication with the service and the slightly rude answers I received when calling and asking them again about that (me "Oh, I didn't know that it will be switched." she "I just told you so" - yes thanks, I was listening), the personnel was very friendly and easy-going, especially the guy in Christchurch and the colleague in Nelson, who was astonished to hear that they gave me a car that needed service in the first place.
To sum up:
positive: good price, convenient office locations, tidy cars, majority of personnel is very friendly
negative: miscommunication, one (!) unfriendly person on the phone, extra effort to switch cars and transfer my stuff
neutral: sometimes you get a very old car for the same price as you would get a newer version
R.Our car was in great condition and it drove really well for our trip. Only complaint is that the gps was really outdated and kept taking us the wrong way through private property and closed tracks. We would have been better off spending our money on data to use google maps.
L.Good value for money, we got the car we wanted and never had any problems with it. Very friendly service both at pick-up and drop-off. They even had a shuttle from the drop-off to the airport. Recommended!
G.All in all a very good place to rent your car in NZ, we rented it in Christchurch City for a quick trip to Queenstown and return it in the airport ( actually the return is not inside the airport ).
They are obviously very cost conscious which return in lower prices than the big guys like Hertz ( I pay around 40% less than the quote I got from Avis ). Of course it come with some drawbacks
Not 24 hr service in the airport ( if memory serve there was some surcharge if you wanted after hours return )
The airport office is not in the airport ( no big deal they have a freeshuttle for the 1.5 km or so )
Two things did bother me and so no five star rating for me ( you can say I am bit .... ):
When I told them I was going to Queenstown they suggested I rent snow chains, which I did since that would be two primers for me: driving on the left and in snow; I asked the guy if he could show me how to put them and he told me look in youtube....yes I know he did not have any obligation...but it was not 5 stars for me
The second thing I considered it more trying to take advantage of a clueless tourist; since I am rather cautious I went to their office the day before I needed the car after obtaining a quote for the cheapest option...guess what: they told me they have available one option up not the cheapest, I showed them the quote and they told me they were sorry they didnt have that option ( going back to the beginning the big guys would most probably give you the same price for the next model ). I said ok no problem, I'll return tomorrow ( anyway I needed to translate my driver license with one of the approved services - didn't have the International one ), went to the hotel made the reservation in their web for the cheapest option, got their confirmation...and voila the following day they gave the one up model for the price of the cheapest. Adding the two things ( snow chains and models ) I was a little bit annoyed.
The car was really fine 100k km of use, everything working ( had some minor tweaks with the remote opening but most probably it was a battery issue )
In summary a very good place to rent.

S.I have to admit, I was somewhat concerned about my rental. a 1.8 litre Toyota Corolla. All four corners of the car were scraped and there was one small dent in the top. The odometer was showing over 100k. That being said, the car ran excellently and safety was never a concern. The tyres were about half worn, and this was exhibited on some NZ roads in heavy rain conditions. We put over 2,000 km on the car in less than two weeks. No worries.
