We hired a Mercedes Sprinter from these guys and our only regret was that we had to give it back. Really friendly and helpful people, nothing was too much trouble and the van was immaculate and well set up. Highly recommended.

Had a Hi Way Runner for 14 Days and absolutely no issues. It was clean an comfy. The pic up was fast and easy, everybody was friendly and there provided airport pic up and drop off works great and if the don't have time do drive you they'll organize an Uber. As the previous comments say not brand new cars but my camper was still in very good conditions. Great service, great price I would rent a agin.

Road Runner Rentals provided me with the van I wanted but for a fraction of the price. The customer service was faultless from beginning to the end. Yes there were issues along the way due to the age of the van, such as the house battery needing changing but that was resolved within 2 hours of calling to notify them of the issue. You can't really get any better customer service than that. We picked up the van in Auckland and dropped it off in Christchurch, both offices had super friendly and helpful staff which I couldn't recommend enough. I've read others comments and make your own decisions before booking, but I would definitely use Road Runner Rentals again. Edit: Just to clarify this review wasn't paid for like stated in some reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed using RRRs and couldn't have had better service with them.

We started with a two berth Sprinter and upgraded halfway to a 4 berth Navigator during our 3 weeks holidays in NZ. Both vehicles were more than fine! Yes, they are a bit older than Maui or Britz, but you pay much less for it. Everything functioned well and was OK. Will definitely hire at Road Runner Rentals again when coming back to NZ. Amazing place to rent a Camper. My partner and i rented their Queenie for 16 days and i would say their prices are more than fair compare to others; it was our first and best experience. Service is nice, they offered us airport pickup and drop off. We will definitely be coming back next year for bigger camper😊. Thank you Phillip for making our experience memorable.

It sounds like management or something has changed as our experience was really good. Customer service was excellent. Eddie was really nice and took care of our after hours return and gave us a lift to the airport with our large bike boxes without question. The lady at pickup was very friendly and really made us feel at ease. The van itself was in mechanically solid shape. No issues. It did leak a little during a massive rain storm but didn't after that. Other than a few small things with the van (given it's age it is normal), we had a pleasant experience. Rented for a full 2 weeks. We would rent from them again. This was at the Auckland location just last week.

Had such a wonderful experience with Road Runner Rentals! Our van was reliable, had everything we needed, and was a comfortable home for our road trip around the South Island! We were sad to say good bye to her (Gerty). The staff was amazing, friendly and attentive. Pick up and drop off and our transfers were flawless, quick and easy. We rented a campervan from 20-10-2019 to 17-11-2019 to tour the beautiful country of NZ! The company was willing to pick us up from the airport on a Sunday morning so we could start travelling right away. All things we needed where on the campervan and it all worked fine. We did have a small issue with the solar panel on the roof, but that was fixed very quickly. No complaints and we had a lovely holiday. Thanks for everything RRR! I would recommend renting here to everyone.

Terrific bunch of guys who did all to make our holiday a success. We were picked up from Christchurch airport despite the two hour delay. The camper was spotless. On our return we were allowed to book in late with no additional charges. OK, a couple of minor issues, but nothing serious - the van behaved immaculately despite its age and everything was fine apart from the weather!

THANKS to all at Road Runner! ......for your fabulous efforts on our amazing two week trip around the South Island, an absolute paradise! The team at Road Runner were outstanding, great service and style, plus super reasonable re the booking terms. The Queenie Hiace SC vehicle was a professionally fitted out campervan conversion, versus some of the very simple alternatives you see at the campsites, eg being promoted by Escape, Mad and other companies. Everything was functional on the car and delivered clean in a friendly and caring style, -credit must go to your staff at the depot in Christchurch. The solar panel is a huge bonus, we did not have to 240v plug-in for the whole 14 days during our DOC freedom camping trip. Interesting to note how the reviews of Road Runner on Google and Rankers have totally turned around from quite poor, to 1st class! - so this must be credit to a new management team.

We had an amazing trip experiencing New Zealand with through our Road Runner camper van. I would highly recommend them. The vans were clean and well equipped and everyone we interacted with was very professional and courteous.

Excellent service. Be aware that the 'freedom camper' is self contained but it is not 'certefied self contained'. This means that you will always have to pay for camp site as ironically you cannot freedom camp. Average campsite fees on South Island are $10-$30 per night so it is still the cheapest form of camping you can do. Van was old buy worked well, we became quite attached to the old girl.

Road Runner Rentals were awesome. They were by far the cheapest company that we could find - especially going in peak time in January. The team greeted and welcomed you at the airport (included) and brought you back to their base to sort out all the details. They showed you everything you needed to know about the campervan and how to use even the simple things (useful as this was our first time!) They then explained a great route to take for the time that we were there. We spent a month on the South Island on this trip. They made sure that we understood the rules of camping/free camping and where you can and can’t camp to help us avoid a fine. Yes, their vans are a little bit older than the big companies but they still look after them well. We had a few issues with our Toyota Hiace whilst we were on the road but they managed to sort it out and get us to the closest garage to get it fixed pretty much instantly. It was never anything major that we couldn’t drive - just minor things like our sliding door would not open so we had to get in and out via the boot for 12 hours. Obviously it happened at night so had to wait until the garages opened. They told us the next garage on our route and it took them a couple of hours to look at and fix. Pretty good as it was a tiny local garage that already looked pretty busy. The team were also very patient with us and having a toll free number to call was awesome, as our phones would not pick up signal in NZ for some reason and so we could only use payphones. The team were always there on the other end of the phone if you needed anything - whether it was mechanical or even advice on things you were doing. We would 100% go back with them as for the price - they are great value and have great customer service. Thanks again time for an unforgettable NZ experience. Nathan and Katie

My boyfriend and I rented a clubby 2 berth from Auckland with return to Auckland and had a great experience. Upon pickup the lady who helped us get set up was lovely! She showed us everything and explained the usage of the things in the van. We returned today to Eddie and he was extremely kind - asked what our plans were and offered a ride to our hotel. Amazing people! Great experience! You rock Eddie.

Cant recommend road runner rentals enough. Had a great trip racking up 5,000k in a month. That cant be done without a well serviced and maintained camper. From cape regina to milford sound it didnt miss a beat and came full kitted out for us to get on the road and go. Great team that made our trip a one in a life time.

Great service from start to finish. I had a hiace for three weeks and it ran like a dream. I picked up from Auckland and was given a comprehensive run through of how the van worked. I set off and covered almost all of the two islands and witnessed the full glory of the New Zealand’s two islands. I delivered back to Christchurch office where Philip checked it over and then even offered to take me to my hotel. He went so far as to give me a mini tour of Christchurch. Much appreciated.

We travelled with a Queenie 2 Berth for 2 persons and it was the best way to explore South Island. The camper van was not brand new but in really great condition and well maintained. Clean and well stuffed with amenities. We got what we paid for. Great customer services. Highly recommend.

Great service, and we had a reliable camper. Very friendly people working. Only negative feedback we can give is that we booked with the option to have camping chairs, camping table and a BBQ. This was not ready and not known at the pick-up location. Which we paid for. I think it must be a mistake by the booking office “Vroomvroom”..

We have hired now four times, for our honey moon, also our family and friends we have recommend to dozens of others who are planning their holiday in New Zealand, we just finished our six weeks, traveled over 7500 kms!, we did have a small issue, it was us, not understanding how a couple of things operated, a quick phone call to the team explained, they are all friendly and help full, on pick up , they wore busy and made time for our questions and show through/ handover was easy stress free process, and we on the road. Sure they don’t have the newest, however they do have new campers is some ranges, our Mercedes Sprinter, was very clean and nice quality bedding and we saved many $$$ compared to big Brands, choosing to travel in a camper is a lifestyle choice , not for everyone, but the relexablity and camp grounds are great, Go team Road Runner, we will see you again soon, Lisa

Actual experience with Road Runner Rentals campervan would have to be rated at a '9". We rented our campervan for 2.5 weeks. Starting in Auckland, then explored South Island the rest of our time in NZ. We had a comfortable time in Sprinter 2 Berth. The size of the van is perfect for two people, enough storage room and good for driving and parking. Everything was clean and great shape and well equipped. The staff met us at a prearranged time and place, gave us a comprehensive introduction to the van and answered all our questions. When we had a problem, the mechanic was always available and helpful. We made a good choice with Road Runner Rentals and our holiday experience proved that to be the case.
