Have rented from Shoestring rentals twice, and on each occasion Cameron has been friendly and helpful and the cars have been in good condition, comfortable and reliable. Would happily use the company again.

We have used Cameron prior to the latest time and every time we have used him we have found his service to be without fault. This time was no different. We were uplifted from the airport and the paperwork was all done and waiting. Will definitely use this service agin.

It was all so easy. And handy location to the airport was a bonus. Cameron was great to deal with, including letting me know the day before that my arrival flight had been rescheduled when my travel agent hadn’t passed that info on! Definitely will use again.

Great car rental service! I was a bit skeptical because the website does not provide ready-to-view prices, so I had to ask for a quote. Well, the quote was very competitive (50% cheaper than elsewhere!) so I thought 'Let's try this!'. I was picked up from the terminal and we drove to the nearby office (1 minute drive). No waiting anywhere. The car was older but in good conditions and very clean. Contact was very personable and the rates were excellent. I will definitely use Shoestring rentals again.

Great communication, went that extra mile to make it a hassle free hire. Even picked us up at the airport. Car was clean and tidy and all information was relayed effectively. Cheap as on gas too. Definitely recommend "Shoestring Rentals". Thanks for the experience!

Shoestring on the budget, but mighty in the service We've hired a mid-sized car for some 10 days during August. The car was standing ready to hop-in, just 5 minutes from the international arrival hall at Christchurch Airport. It was in an excellent condition, with nice features such as a CD collection and very comfy seating. Paperwork was a breeze, and we hit the road immediately. NZ' South Island is breathtakingly beautiful, and we had the trip of a lifetime. Thank you, Shoestring, for giving us such memorable experiences. Just amazingly WOW!!!

From the initial online enquiry, to the return of the vehicle at the end of my stay in ChCh, Cameron at Shoestring Rentals made it seamless, effortless experience. I was met outside the main entrance to the domestic terminal and driven to their base less than 500m away where my rental was waiting to go. One thing I appreciated as a seasoned driver was the fact the vehicle wasn't marked as a rental car or covered in company stickers, there were no notes stuck to various parts of the interior with instructions on how to operate the vehicle, and there was no time consuming form filling as it was all done online. Thanks again Cameron and crew at Shoestring Rentals, and keep up the great service!

Best firm I have ever used. Clear and precise co.munication in all aspects. Pickup at the door before I even left terminal. Hand over in car done within 5 mins and I was away. On top of that lovely car and the cheapest price I've paid for years. Top Mark's couldn't ask for better

What a great choice. We have always booked with the mainstream companies but decided to try Shoestring this time. Communication with Cameron leading up to the rental was excellent. Cameron picked us up at the Sudima and took us back around the corner (we should have walked!) to sign the paperwork and drop him off where we'd leave the car. Our Nisan Bluebird was in as new condition even if it wasn't new. Funny how we chose shiny and new when it just isn't necessary. Loved the cd collection! We went through quite a few of the cds driving to and from the West Coast. We visit Christchurch regularly and will stick with Shoestring from now on.

Cameron was awesome even though we booked it late he got back to us almost immediately and met us at the airport with the car. It was clean and tidy the whole handover was achieved very quickly and we were on our way. The return was just as quick he offered to drive us back to the airport which as it was only 400 metres away we decided to walk. Thanks for the A1 treatment Cameron wouldn’t hesitate to use shoestring again

We hired a medium car for 3 days - the car was a late model Nissan Sylphy which had a few marks on the outside but was immaculately clean inside - it ran very well and was great to drive - Pickup with Cameron was super easy and very quick - I totally recommend Shoestring Rentals because of the quality of service, the great price and convenience

This is a family owned company that provided excellent service at a very reasonable price. Communication was excellent, overall I think we had a way better experience than we would have had with a big corporate chain. Cameron went above and beyond to help us when we made a silly mistake with the car key at 8pm, he came to our rescue within ten minutes!

Easily the best rental car experience I've ever had. The vehicle I rented from Christchurch was reliable, comfortable, very fuel efficient and offered at a very competitive rate. Shoestring Rentals sets itself as an alternative to the huge rental car chains with an emphasis on personal service and they've really done it perfectly. Cameron is easy and quick to get in touch with, and flexible if any issues are encountered, like a later drop-off time if a last minute commitment arises 30 minutes before scheduled drop-off such as was the case for myself. Give them a go, businesses like this need to thrive.

Best car rental company ever! Last march I hired a car from them and Cameron did everything in his power to make it easy and satisfying (including picking up me and my friend at the airport late night on a sunday and beying available for any doubts at any time). I had no problem with the car, and everything went absolutelly well. Also, they have a really simple car return system, located a few meters away from the Christchurch airport.

A very enjoyable experience! There are no long winded forms to fill, queues to wait or walking rows of cars trying to find yours. The owner is friendly and I will never book elsewhere when I land in Christchurch again

Reliable, friendly, helpful and economic. I had originally booked a car from one of the major groups I had used before, but on reading some of their reviews about the Christchurch offices decided to cancel and look elsewhere. The reviews for Shoestring Rentals were mainly great. So I decided to go with them. Cameron couldn't have been more helpful. He had advice for the kind of car we needed for New Zealand roads and could also provide help with driving routes, destinations and things to know about driving in New Zealand. We ended up with a newly serviced car which was roomy and comfortable and gave us no problems driving around half of South Island New Zealand. The pick up went very smoothly, having been provided with clear instructions, including photos. Drop off was similar, even though it was 4am. The car was not brand new, but it was more than good enough for what we needed, and at a very good price. If we ever return to South Island New Zealand, I will definitely be coming back to Shoestring Rentals.

Great communication during booking and before meeting, honestly as good as borrowing a car from a caring good friend. Cameron shares info on helping you to have a really positive experience with his (business) car, while visiting his city. Definately will use his business again next time in Christchurch.

Totally recommend shoestring rentals. They were so accommodating when I realised at the last minute before I arrived I hadn’t confirmed my rental from the quote they had sent. I've visited South Island NZ twice and during both trips I hired the 8 seater people mover Toyota Estima from Shoestring Rentals. Mr. Cameron such a lovely and helpful person. All bookings were made with zero hassle. The cars that we rented are in good condition. Highly recommended!

when it comes to reliable and budget car rental, i will always rent from shoestring. pick up time 24/7 with no extra cost. Pick up/Drop off at CHC only. I used this company in 2009, 2011 and 2013. In 2015 i did not rent from Cameron as my departure is from Queenstown. Highly recommended.

Cameron from Shoestring Rentals was highly professional from pre-sales all the way through to follow-up after return. He responded personally in each situation, from advising the type of vehicle for our group (an immaculate late-model Toyota Estima/Tarago with electric everything and 3-zone climate control) through booking to pick-up at the airport. We landed late, and it took us a little while to find the pickup location, but he still had a smile on his face and was very friendly. Cameron explained all the contract details in plain English, and made sure he pointed out all the notes on the paper as he went through it. We felt confident he had covered everything. We were impressed with the freshness and cleanliness of the vehicle and it ran very smoothly and quietly for our entire trip. The suspension was supply and responsive and just ate up the road up to Queenstown and back. Top marks for maintenance, safety and value for money! After we dropped the car off, Cameron contacted us straight away to finalise a few loose ends. It was one of the best car rental experiences we've had. We would definitely recommend Cameron and Shoestring Rentals to anyone wanting to travel from Christchurch, and they will be our first choice when we go back for a future visit.

Quick response and great guidance from Mr Cameron for our trip before and after pick up our car rental. We have rent medium compact car (Nissan Sylphy) and although the car has already reach more than 150,000 kms but it still in a very good condition and no problem during driving (We drive more than 2,500 kms for our trip). We choose Shoestring for it easy pick up & drop off service (nearby airport, 24 hours) as well as its affordable price. Highly recommended if you start and end your trip in Chrischurch.

We rented 2 Toyota Estima for our trip from 29/11-11/12 2017. The delivery was fast and easy. Mr Cameron wait at sharp 0900 as promised at JUCY Snooze Lobby and drove me to the office to pick up the car after signing the paper. Simple and fast. On the 3rd day, one of the Remote Control Battery was flat and it appear the size of battery is odd size to be found while we were at west coast. We rang up Mr Cameron and he helped us to source it at Greymouth and we only need to drop by the designated workshop to collect it. Stories continue when we were at Milford Sound, we had an flat tyre, and luckily it still able to be on the road after pump up the air. We rang up Mr Cameron again at night 2200 and he still answer our call and he arranged for the tyre change at Te Anau, the next nearest town to Milford. We were lucky for his help to be able to squeeze in the workshop, with such a short notice. Bear in mind in NZ, all jobs are schedule and pre appointment are needed. We are bless with Mr Cameron help and assistant, and we enjoyed our trip with the cars we rented.

Loved Shoestring's attention to detail and delivering personal service. The fact that they were pet friendly and allowed my pug to travel was exceptional, although I didn't bring my dog in the end they still had a special blanket laid out in the back seat in preparation. I also liked the special compilation music CDs for when there was no radio reception. Definitely recommend Shoestring for good honest friendly south island hospitality and service!

Second visit and second time of using Shoestring. Can't fault price or service. Only minor down is that my wife expected sweets in the glove box like last time!!!! Lol.
