This was our first interaction with this car rental company based in Dunedin. Easily it was one of the best experience we have had so far with a car rental company - and we travel a lot and hire a lot of cars in different locations, and so are able to compare. Craig - the person in charge of this set up, is totally customer focussed. He is friendly and does not hesitate to go out of his way to meet a customer's requirements. For example we were travelling to Dunedin for the first time and so casually enquired with Craig about the best way to reach the car yard. It was a surprise to hear him offer to hand over the car at our hotel. Not only that - he even arranged to collect the car from our hotel at the end of the rental without charging anything extra. The car provided was clean and in very good condition. It was a very different and pleasant experience dealing with Craig, and this car rental outlet.

These guys organized me a rental car at relatively short notice on a very busy weekend. Tidy car and very reasonable price. Communication could be improved slightly, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Just finished my holiday in Dunedin. the car is good and totally over my expectation. contactless service for pickup and return at Dunedin Airport. Save money and time. will use them again when I down to Dunedin.

I have rented from Craig several times when I travel to Dunedin from Australia. This time Craig organised a car for me to bring down from Christchurch. Have used NZ Rent a Car twice now and the excellent service from Craig never fails. First time the car was delivered to where I was staying and drop off at the Dunedin Airport was no problem. Exceptional value for money, less than half the price of hiring from one of the national firms. We had a very good experience: excellent, personal service from Craig who clearly cares about his vehicles, his business and his customers. He was friendly to deal with, helpful about collecting me from the city and unfazed by us changing our drop off arrangements at short notice. The car we hired was a sturdy Corolla in good order. I wouldn't hestitate to hire a car here again.

NZ Rent a Car were awesome! Craig in particular in their Dunedin office was extremely helpful after there had been a blunder with a different rental company and I discovered 2 hours before flying that we didnt have a car on the busiest weekend of the year Craig saved our holiday and was friendly and professional while he was doing it. Whats more the rates were very good and didnt reflect the demand of that period (there wasnt another car anywhere best I could tell) I'm a fan! Excellent service and car! My family came over to NZ for a visit and I decided to bring them to South Island to see all the amazing towns and cities down south. I looked for a cheaper car rental company and New Zealand Rent A Car was the cheapest that I found. I immediately booked the car online. When we arrived in the airport, Craig was alreadt waiting for us. We were all surprised when Craig opened the car and handed the key to me. The Toyota Estima that we rented was clean and spacious. It is quite new with a low mileage. Our trip went smooth and we never had any problems with the car. Booking the car had been hassle-free and my family were happy with the car that was lend to us.

The overall experience with NZ Rent a Car Dunedin was first class. From the arrival at Dunedin Airport where the local Franchise owner ( Craig) meet us with a friendly smile, through to the completion of the necessary paper work, the use of a suitable sized rental car and the ultimate return of the car to Dunedin airport. First class service on the two occasions I have used this company. On my second visit to Dunedin, the car was waiting at the airport. Spotlessly clean and exactly what I required. Very reasonable rates, even for a short term rental. I wish all car rental was this easy.....

We were looking for an affordable and safe rental option for winter driving in NZ and NZ Rent a Car provided that option. We didn't make a reservation, but when we showed up Craig was very helpful asking us about our driving plans and recommending a particular car that would meet those needs and even hooking us up on the spot with a car. Additionally, we were returning our car to another location in NZ and it was easy to extend our rental by a day or two as our plans changed. Overall, great experience with NZ Rent a Car and Craig!

Easy rental to organise, everything on time and as expected. Craig is super friendly and even drove me back to my property after I dropped the car off to save me the walk. Would recommend, definitely the best car rental without having to trudge to the airport!

We arrived late into Dunedin airport. The rental car operator was their waiting for us. He showed us to our car, got the paper work out of the way, and we were soon on our way. the car a lancer was clean and drove well. We went to wanaka then queens town. we returned the car to Dunedin air port. We are planning another trip to the south island, and will be using new Zealand rent a car again.

Older station wagon but tidy inside and went well. Great price for a rental car, less than 50% on what you'd pay at larger rental car places. Make sure you fill in all details on website.

Craig was super helpful after another company left us with a sudden ' no car available ' while we needed a car less than 15 hours later. Craig got us a car, drove it to our hotel and was very friendly. Saved our day. Best company ever.

I am a cheapskate so NZ Rent a Car was the obvious choice for me when wanting a vehicle for a family holiday in New Zealand. The price was easily the cheapest I found so I booked and gritted my teeth in anticipation of the extra costs that were likely to come my way - but these costs did not come. During our trip, my wife had an incident with a boom gate. I looked at my paperwork and found the excess to be $2000 (I didn't pay the extra to reduce this). Luckily, NZ Rent a Car looked at the photos of the damage and told me it would only be $1500, not $2000. This was good news, I have come to expect car rental places to just charge the full amount. Later, NZ Rent a Car told me that the price actually came in under the $1500 quote and they refunded me more than $400. Great customer service, even after I returned the car. A brilliant company to do business with.

Brilliant, went to 2 other big name rental yards and no cars available. They came and picked me up and only charged $20 for drop off to airport. Highly recommend.
