Very smooth contact-less car rental experience. The whole car rental process is very optimized and organized. They send you a form to fill in your details including the Driver's License etc. Once done, they send back the details with the Plate Number, Make and Model of the allotted car and instructions about the Car Pickup from the Car Rental Area just outside the Airport. It also has details about where to get the key from. On arrival, the Car is ready with your Name printed in bold on the Driver's side window. Get the car keys. The Car is clean, fueled to the top and ready to be driven off. Return instructions are also sent along with the welcome package. Drop the car in their allocated space, drop the keys as designated and off you go. Prices are competitive as well! I did not have to ring after hours or anything. But reading reviews while deciding, I always read about stellar service!

Great service, managed to arrange a rental car at the last minute, even stayed a bit after closing hours to get all the paperwork done. Price was great and the car was more than adequate for a last minute rental. Would definitely use again

Tried after hours pickup for the first time, for a fee. Very easy, contactless process. Signed rental agreement online as soon as booking was confirmed. Picked up the key from a lock box. Always rent from here because of their good prices, well looked after cars, and free after hours dropoff. Warren is such a lovely staff member too!

I arrived in Dunedin with a plan of renting a car for my short business trip. At first I was so worried because some car rentals do not have available vehicle and some gave me beyond the budget rental cost. My card was double charged when we rented a car here and it took a month to resolve, which is not ideal. If this happens to you, make sure they contact their bank ASAP and don’t only rely on eftpos receipts. Also be prepared to pay when picking up the car even if you had booked the car with a credit card as we had. The problem was resolved, but it took much longer than it should have. A good experience was otherwise tainted by this ordeal.

He spoke clearly ..gave good instructions (about routes to take hea ding out of the city..dropping off the car at the airport.."disposing"of the keys etc). We were out-of-towners needing a small car to tour around central Otago for 6 days, starting in Dunedin and finishing at the airport, and in every sense Pegasus were easy to deal with. We also got a great car and the rates were the best ... plus we got the car we specified in the online booking, which hasn't always happened with other companies. And because of our dealings with other companies, we kept waiting for the little sneaky traps that were going to cost us more, but there weren't any! But, even better was the chap in the yard who talked us through the whole process in such a calm and measured manner. He deserves a 5-star review all by himself. Arranged the rental via online from Singapore and picked up car at the airport. Tina was there to meet me and it was a pleasant transaction - quite a breeze. Car was clean and runs very well - I only used it within the city. Extended the rental a few more days but ended up returning the car sooner. Pegasus only charged me for the days used. Communication was timely and clear, the car was clean, well serviced, easy to collect and drop off. The pricing was acceptable to us. We found the petrol refill instructions (specifically to use the garage closest to the airport and leave the receipt in the car) very pedantic as we had to fuel up in Mosgiel the day before and then needed to top up for a very minor amount subsequently, but understand the logic being applied. Overall, a good rental experience.

Pre-travel booking arrangements were excellent. Car pick-up at airport was exactly how Pegasus described and was seamless. Vehicle was a little older than the swanky and expensive "big guys" but the value was excellent. I'd use Pegasus over the others next time for sure. Absolutely faultless service. We were met at the airport by the loveliest staff member who sorted out our car. She was professional and friendly, worked quickly but at our pace. I'd had a bad experience with another company over a baby car seat so emailed ahead and had my worries sorted out. The car seat was good quality and fitted securely and towels were provided in case we wanted to change the angle. Will happily return to this company. Great service and their car ran really well and was incredibly economical to run.

A life saver! Very helpful people who made it quick and easy for me to pick up a rental car - exactly what you want when your own car fails unexpectedly! Amazing price too. I rented a car from Dunedin, NZ for 4 days and I would recommend Pegasus with 5 stars. Firstly, the website is well organised and simple. Secondly, the receptionist was awesome, very friendly and welcoming and had child sit fitted and ready to go. They had a wide range of cars (from budget ( 19 $ a day) to SUV) that suite your budget. I rented a sporty car under 90,000km and loved it, very clean with unlimited kilometres.

The procedure to receive the car in the airport was as simple as presenting your ID to the information desk to get the car key. I wrote email to Pegasus requesting a car replacement. I received a call from Dunedin center after 2 minutes telling me the new car is ready. It was amazing to get such a prompt response. The company communicated well with us by email and we collected our car from Dunedin Airport. The car was clean, in good condition, ran well and was reasonably priced. One thing that concerned us was that in the fine print it stated the car must be returned in clean condition or else a $75 cleaning fee might be charged. We put the car through the carwash at Milton, but wet roads meant it was dirty again by the airport when we returned it. However, it transpires that the fee is not charged for normal dirt but only if your baby has vomited over the upholstery etc. We'd be very happy to use Pegasus again.

Good service! We could pick up our car at the 2nd of January even though it was a public holiday. Easy to get in contact and even possible for last minute hire! The car we got was small, but perfect for the purpose we had to use it for. The only thing we didn't like was the navigation system, which was in Chinese so we didn't know how to program a route and we even couldn't figure out how to turn it off so sometimes the system was talking in Chinese (always the same message though)

We hired a Compact category car initially for 8 days for a holiday around South Island. Service was friendly, polite and helpful from the start. We were given a Japanese import 2009 Nissan Tiida Latio, which was in incredibly clean condition with low mileage, it looked no more than a year old and was top spec so very comfortable. The CVT automatic gave excellent fuel efficiency, so much so we spent less than half our pre-planned petrol budget! Partway through the trip we decided we'd like to return the car a day later - Pegasus were very accommodating and sorted this out for us quickly and smoothly. Pricing was very reasonable at $42 per day plus $15 per day for excess reduction to $250 + GST. Overall I see no reason to hire a 'new' car from one of the big multinational hire companies, when Pegasus provided just as good a vehicle (when do you ever get the top spec of a model as a rental?) and better service, significantly cheaper. We will definately recommend to others, and use them again ourselves when we are back in NZ.

I rented from Pegasus four times for a period of 4 to 5 days each time during our six week stay in Dunedin. I found the services to be excellent. A very nice lady would pick us up and drop off at our accommodation on U Otago campus (this was a key reason to rent from them). The cost of rental is low ($49 during summer months, $39 during winter months- starting 4th week of April for a compact or subcompact, and because the insurance cap is NZD 1,500 it was easier to decline insurance and rely on my credit card coverage) because cars are NOT new. My rentals had 120,000 to 139,000 kms on them, and tire treads were not in great shape but I did not see any performance and reliability issue. Thrifty would rent to newer cars but that would cost you around $99 with insurance, plus you would not get pick-up and drop-off. I did rent once from another company that rented used cars (one form Hanson has 90K kms, but Pegasus cars were in better shape).

Excellent service. Warren who is based in Dunedin is super efficient, friendly and great to deal with. Update to the above review as we have hired from them again. Consistently really good. I asked for a very last minute swop of cars after I had picked it up and they went out of their way to accommodate this - no questions asked. Staff are super friendly and efficient. Competitive prices. We always go straight to Pegasus when we look to hire a car - they are excellent all round.
