M.Thanks Omega Rentals for the great holiday experiences we had with your car. We booked this car ages ago. Some of our final travel plans changed slightly and we ended up picking up the car a day earlier as planned but this was no problem thanks to the dedicated team on the ground at Nelson airport!
C.Omega were the only car rental company at this price point and yet the car we rented was everything we needed - well maintained, comfortable and practical. On landing we rang Omega and their van was with us within 10 minutes; similarly, when we returned the car, the van took us to the airport within five minutes of arrival. We can see no reason to pay two or three times as much for a car that does no more than our Omega version.
N.Reasonably priced vehicles, good range of vehicles. The vehicle was very tidy on pick-up and it was well-maintained. The vehicles are a little on the older side but still drive well. You will have to take a free shuttle to the base but they are very quick to pick you up and drop you back to the airport.
P.Good price, car was in great condition and relatively economical to run. The shuttle service from the airport was very timely, which made life easy. Very happy to recommend to others.

J.We were picked up at Nelson airport quite promptly and taken on a very short drive to their office to complete paperwork and collect the Toyota Corolla. The car was clean as a whistle inside and apart from a few paint chips and a graze which was duly notes off we went.
The car was very economical with petrol, we covered a huge amount of klms . Returning the car was easy, no problem and we were then taken back to the airport.
We would certainly recommend Omega to anybody that asked who to go to. Thanks Omega.

t.I would highly recommend Omega - we had a great trip in one of their cars (a 2018 Toyota Corolla Hatchback) at fantastic value over the long weekend. The booking process was easy, as was return. They provided a shuttle service back to the airport which was great. I’ve given 4/5 only because we picked up the car at 7pm Friday night which is out of hours, so it means you have to make your own way to their office (either by taxi or you could jog if you’re feeling fit!). But they are a great company, very nice car, fantastic price - consider them!

D.This is the second time we have rented Omega Rental Cars. We find it easy to rent cars with Omega and the cars are well-maintained and cost-effective. Even though you have to call Omega to be picked up to go to the rental depot, this is not a big deal and the system works well.

We will a little surprised to find our insurance was through a third party however that didn't detract from the friendly and efficient service and the quality vehicle we used. Pick up and drop off went well (despite having to pay to leave the car after hours) and we appreciated access to this service.

The car was clean and well maintained. A great deal, a rental car is a must to get about easily and I would use this company again anytime.
T.The staff were so friendly, helpful & prompt in getting me to & from the airport to the depot down the road. When booking, I was a bit concerned about an off site rental but their speed was great. The only negative is that it was raining and you have to walk about 100m in the open so make sure you have an umbrella in the cooler and wetter months.

S.I choose to book with Omega rentals as they ticked a lot of boxes from price to unlimited mileage etc.. Upon arrival at Nelson airport we got picked up by their shuttle and taken to the depot where we picked up our car. Customer service was amazing. we didn't have to wait for long. They were off-site, but they had a shuttle there as soon as we landed and dropped us back as soon as we returned the vehicles (and only three minutes drive away!) They were also amazing when I left my phone in the vehicle and returned it to the airport to me before my flight. A+

K.The price for the car rental is cheaper than almost all the other companies in Nelson. The insurance was pretty cheap too. The car wasn’t in the greatest condition with scratches and dings all over but it worked beautifully for our trip. The process for picking up the car did take awhile but drop off was super easy. Only thing to be aware of is the price for the refuel if you don’t return the car full is just horrendously expensive but other than that a great experience and we will definitely use them again.

We opted for a cheap car with gold insurance cover so no worries. Although the car was a 2008 it ran perfectly for the 24 days that we had it. We returned the car to the Christchurch city office and the lady there was also very friendly. I'd never heard of them but their quote was incredibly competitive and it allowed me to pick up a car in Nelson and drop it off in Christchurch without paying a relocation fee. We hired a fantastic wee car that didn't miss a beat and very economical. It was a Mazda demio. Very affordable.
A shuttle picked us up promptly from the airport and took us to the Omega site nearby. We spent 3 full days in Nelson, driving lots of the time especially back and forth to Stoke where our motel was, and when we refilled the tank just prior to drop off, we'd only used $31.80 worth of fuel!!! Totally blown away with the economy.
We returned our car after-hours, but it was a very quick taxi ride to the airport, no hassle at all and cost about $13.

J.Bookings are easy to make. After hours is no problem as documentation is all done prior to travel. Car pick up is as stated. Not far from petrol station or airport. Definitely when next in Nelson I would be using Omega.

It’s an inconvenience where you have to meet the shuttle (rather than straight outside the building where everyone else gets picked up from), but not their fault. Hopefully Nelson airport can resolve this.
l.Prices are fantastic and the car we selected (Subaru SUV) was great - economical & lovely to drive.
Customer Service was a little hit and miss. Initially we had difficulty contacting the Nelson Office to advise our flight was running late and had to go through the Customer Service number. We then had difficulty with contacting office to arrange pickup from the airport. When the shuttle arrived they provided no details with regards to location and managed to park the furthest away from the exit doors - normally not an issue but with 4 bags and 2 young boys and an adult with broken arm, very little assistance was offered with baggage. Perhaps it was too late in the day for all concerned.
Customer Service improved with the collection of the vehicle and was very quick.
Returning the vehicle was a breeze and very friendly. Dropping car off was quick - bags were transferred from car the shuttle by a friendly and personable young man, who then chatted to us on the way to the airport and assisted greatly with dropping us off close to the entry and grabbed a trolley for us as well. A+ Service from him made the overall experience a positive one.
We do recommend this service.

m.We just did back to back car rentals with Omega on both the north and south islands lasting a total of 25 days. Both experiences were very positive. Pick-up and drop off were straight forward and shuttles were timely. Staff were very courteous and friendly. On the South Island Omega transported the Rav4 we requested from Christchurch to Nelson to be sure we had the vehicle we requested. The vehicles with 50,000+ miles were reliable and seemed well maintained. Very positive experience and would recommend to others.
B.Omega Nelson are great people and service oriented with excellent attitudes... shame the same can’t be said about the firms ability to answer the phone (left messages for 2 days - and no one returned calls - Christchurch Branch) and Wellington Return office - uptight and angry. The only way I was able to get phone support was call Auckland, and select “Pick up at airport” and Very helpful Induan sounding phone person in Auckland sorts out your Christchurch booking requirement! Crazy -but that’s the only way I could get to a live person. Firm must be missing out on 59% if bookings as they just don’t answer the phone.

We rented a car for 3 days in Nelson. Pickup if the car was straight forward and I appreciated that there was no hidden costs or hard sell on an insurance upgrade. The car itself was tidy and worked great. The icing on the cake was the great service we got upon returning the car realising we had accidentally taken a motel towel with us! Not only did they let us leave the towel with them, they also arranged to drop it back to the motel for us! That was awesome!
N.An easy process, charming reception, good car, minimum of fuss, reasonable price. We were collected from Nelson Airport, the car was ready, the necessary paperwork and checks were done swiftly and we were on our way.
On leaving the car at a different place, Christchurch -fortunately no damage! -it was received promptly and we were transferred to the airport with all our luggage in no time. A painless operation, and although quite a high mileage car, good to drive.
We were advised by a local friend not to go to the big international car hire firms clustered in the airport but to go a little further out. Good advice. I would use Omega again.

C.We hired a car for five days from Nelson Airport, for our holiday in Golden Bay. We were collected from the airport 3 or 4 mins after we phoned, by very friendly staff and the paperwork was quickly completed. Though we'd booked a small car, it was in great condition and just what we needed. No problems during the rental and helpful staff explained the gravel road policy in advance (i.e. apart from a couple of specific roads, insurance covers travel on those roads which are named).

C.These guys are great. We arrived early in the morning and they collected us from the airport as soon as we phoned. The car was ready and waiting so we just needed to complete the formalities. Information on the area and things to see and do was also very informative. . We had to leave suddenly/urgently on family business and dropped the car in around 8am. These guys ran us to the airport even though they hadn't actually started work. The car was immaculate. 2017 Subaru Forester. Better than any other competitor and cheaper by far. d.We just returned our Nelson Airport Omega rental - pickup at the airport was QUICK and COURTEOUS. Because I had completed the online forms prior to arrival, the keys to the car were in my hand in less than two minutes and we were off to explore the north of the South Island.
The vehicle was the exact one we had selected - in very good condition and clean. It ran perfectly and served us extremely well.
The return was accomplished in less than a minute and we were immediately shuttled back to the airport. Why pay twice as much for a "major" brand rental at the airport? All in all - a great experience!
C.Easy to deal with and was picked up by shuttle straight away from the airport. Car was ungraded for free to accomodate our babies car seat so we could have isofix. Great value for money as all the other companies I searched for online were hundreds more expensive. Will definitely use again

I can’t speak more highly of this company, from the quick pick up at the airport in their shuttle bus, to delivery of the car back at their depot in Nelson. The car was a Corolla. S.We (an American couple in our 60's) have rented from the Nelson branch of Omega Rental Cars for the past 2 years for extended periods (last year for 5 weeks, this year for 7 weeks). Pick-up by van from the Nelson Airport is easy and the Omega office is only minutes away. The office employees are all pleasant, helpful, courteous and knowledgable. Booking on-line is simple. The cars have been clean, petrol-efficient, problem-free, and as-advertised. They open at 7:30 AM, so if you need to get to the airport for an earlier flight, you'll need to make other arrangements for drop-off and a ride. Negotiating the Nelson Airport is about as easy as it gets, at least compared to US regional airports. We definitely would rent from them in the future, as they deliver quality service for very competitive pricing. High praise.

Staff was helpful and friendly - was checked in by Sue (a bit like being checked in by your mom... “remember drive on the left and no sleeping in the car”) - and as I was running late for my return flight and the shuttle had just left, Mike very graciously dropped me off at the terminal in one of the rental cars, getting me there a couple of minutes before boarding. Tip - if you are flying out of Nelson Airport and have a passenger, drop your luggage off with your passenger at the airport drop-off lane then take your car back to Omega, as the Omega shuttle only goes to the outside edge of the airport carpark. The shuttle leaves you twice the distance to lug your luggage. I would guess pickup could also be better if your passenger and luggage waited at the terminal

V.Usual good service and vehicle. However I am extra pleased with service received when Jetstar cancelled our homeward flight from Nelson and Omega arranged for us to leave car in Blenheim so we could fly back from there.

L.We all found the Omega people friendly and easy to deal with both collecting the car and in returning it. I was the driver and had asked for a Nissan Tiida as am considering buying one. It was so easy to drive and very roomy for the three of us who are all larger size. We had great boot space for luggage and for our box of groceries. I have done a cost effectiveness on both kilometres to petrol used and for overall costs taking into account the hire fees and the insurance I took out. All came up tops and better than the Nissan I currently drive. For me, the only small factor was having the hand brake as a foot brake but I soon got used to it. Thanks for a wonderful first time experience in having a car rental.
P.easy pick up. The shuttle they sent to the hotel to pick us up was prompt, very nice kiwi folks in nelson. car ran well for the entire 2000+ km we drove it all the way to Queenstown. Drop off not great in Queenstown. Their location is right in the middle of the town, with no parking, and they did NOT specify that once you get there, you have to call them and one member will come out to take the key from you. Very casual, no receipt given when I handed over the car keys to a random lady wearing omega shirt in the street. Also, we returned the car one day early, and did not get refund of the last day. Usually, with bigger car companies, we only pay for the time/days we use the car. With omega, you pay at time of pickup. Not drop-off. So you're basically paying up front for the entire 2 weeks, and if you're a day early or your plans change in returning the car, you have to give them 48 hour notice. This would've been good to know at time of pick up as well. Overall good experience.
A.I used Omega on two occasions in NZ (one north island and one south island) and both experiences were excellent. The cars were as described and expected and performed very well. (Toyota Corolla hatchbacks, manual transmission).
The most outstanding part of my experience was when I returned my second car three days early at the Nelson depot. Not only did they refund my three days pre-paid charge, but they did it cheerily. And there were no early return fees. My plans had changed, as they often do on long trips, so I was very appreciative of their excellent policy and attitude.
I would certainly use Omega again and highly recommend them to others.
P.We hired a Mazda Demio from Nelson Omega car rentals. Omega picks you up in a shuttle bus from the airport. Their offices are no more than a 5 minute drive away. T.We had a wonderful experience with Omega rental cars! We were very delayed flying into Nelson due to weather. By the time we were scheduled to arrive in Nelson, they were supposed to be closed. We stopped in Wellington and signed our contract and thought our vehicle would be left outside for us. Much to our surprise, when we arrived at the airport we were picked up and taken to get our car! I wish that I could remember both of the ladies names that helped us in Nelson and in Wellington (Hutt Road location) because they were absolutely awesome! We were also scheduled to fly out on a very early morning flight and again, they were supposed to be closed. We checked in at the airport and drove back over to Omega. P.Had a fantastic experience booking our car hire with Omega. We picked up our car at Queenstown airport and we left it back to Nelson airport today. We were picked up in a timely manner and our car was sitting waiting for us. They don't charge for additional drivers which I find is a great bonus... We had the bad experience of someone driving into the back of us in Christchurch. However as we had fully comprehensive insurance it was no hassle we just took the car to the depot in Christchurch, filled out a few forms and were away again within 30 minutes in a non-damaged car (it wasn't our fault but even if it was taking out fully comprehensive insurance meant that we were covered) I recommend this for peace of mind and to mitigate the ahem slightly poor driving standard from Kiwis and tourists alike! :) Couldn't fault the service. When I left the car back today I was even offered a lift to the airport or to a bus stop.. Thanks Omega, we will definitely use you again for our next trip.

Only reason its not 5 stars is that the pick top is not no site at the airport so there is the inconvenience of being shuttled to and from the car pick up. H.We hired a car from Nelson Airport and Helen did our paper work and gave us info and maps on what to see in the area. We asked for a small car and they gave us one that drove very well on the mountain roads. We had an early flight when leaving Nelson. The day before leaving we rang Omega to see if someone would be there by 8:00am to take us to the airport. The next day an easy going friendly gentleman came to the office at 7:40am. It was raining heavily and he drove us in the car we hired (we had a full tank of fuel) to the airport. We didn't have to move our luggage to another vehicle and get them wet. Very pleasant and helpful service from this company.

A.The people at Omega were awesome - 5 str service, efficiency and politeness - I could not fault them. Thy let me leave my bags overnight ad nothing was any bother whatsoever. What lowered the rating was the car !!!!!!!! It stank of damp, and the front passenger's foot area was completely soaking. I called the company and they said "that's what the Mazda's do". I paid almost $400 for 10 days - good price, but couldn't put anything on the floor in the front and the car stank the whole time. I hope they sort this problem out. I am aware of this problem with Honda CRV's (as I had one which did this - and sold it !), but why use it as a rental if you know it stinks and is soaking !!!!!?????

The service was excellent with clear instructions of where to collect the car out of hours and where to drop the car off afterwards. We were very pleased with the service and always met with a smile. G.Pickup was good from the airport. The first car we got had multiple issues, eg. Windows only worked from the master switch, One window did not work at all, and the car developed a brake issue 1 day after pickup.
The car was (begrudgingly it seemed) replaced with another before our southern trip. A better vehicle, although the cigarette lighter did not work, and if we hadn't had a separate power bank for our GPS, we would still be lost. This car also pulled to the left quite badly, even after checking tyre pressures.
I would suggest a better checking of vehicles after a hireage to ensure that they are OK mechanically before re-hire.
Otherwise the car did what it should, and did not let us down. Online booking was good. I really liked that we could pick up in Nelson and drop off in Christchurch. This made our trip planning much easier.
Pricing was competitive, so our 9 day hire did not bankrupt us :).
I will use Omega again, but will insist on a test drive before signing the paperwork in future.

Car looked good and drove well but it had a slight miss in the engine which was annoying and there was a wee leak in the rear spoiler which dumped water into the boot when it was opened, apart from these minor annoyances i found i enjoyed the car and the interaction with the team.

After having walked from the Airport to Rent A Dent we were informed by very uninterested staff that they had no cars available for at least two days and that all rental companies in the area were in a similar situation.
We started walking back to Nelson and just around the corner happened to pass Omega Car Rentals and decided to at least try our luck there.In stark comparison the staff, even though very very busy with clients that had pre booked their rentals, they made us feel very welcome and accommodated us. M.They were pretty easy to deal with. The car was good, their service was good. The parking lot of their office is very small. Their price was better than another company I looked at.

B.Seriously impressed with Omega this week. I had an early flight to catch and was cutting it fine for the drop off in Nelson. Not only was the guy there ahead of time to open up the office, he dealt with me so speedily that I was back at the airport within 5 mins of dropping off the car.
G.The vehicle ran well on our trip. Exterior was dirty on pickup and still had the previous renters rubbish in the glove compartment. Windscreen wipe blades didn't clean the screen when in rain. Obviously needed new rubbers

Their rates were better than all the majors, the location in Nelson is convenient, and this was the easiest hire process I have experienced for some time. Really friendly, nothing was a problem, minimum paperwork and dropped off at the airport.

J.We thought Omega was great, especially the people. We got caught in a downpour walking to their location in Picton, and they found me a hair dryer! We especially liked that there was no charge for dropping off the car in Nelson. Very good experience. We'd recommend them.

c.Easy and no extra costs. Used the budget car and was clean and more than suitable for short trips. Brakes made a grinding noise sometimes which I reported and will be looked at - but otherwise would use them again. :-)

S.People seem really nice and helpful and car was in mint condition. Only small issue was their opening hours. Bit of a struggle to get a rental car if you come in later in the evening or have to go early in the morning. Saying that they where very helpful on trying to find a solution.

D.OK experience. The car wasn't washed and quite dirty when we picked it up. The rattling coming from the bottom of the car didn't make us feel good especially when climbing over the Takaka Hill. It was dangerous as we didn't know what was causing it. We could have had a fatal accident so when we returned the car, we suggested to the Omega staff to get it checked before someone becomes a victim. Other than that it was OK, cheap but not so cheerful - 3 out of 5.
M.Travelling to Nelson, I only booked a car in the very last moment - what appealed was the good price, and that there is no airport fee (another company had a hidden clause of $$ after filling in everything - bye bye).
Pick up from airport was easy, just dial the 0800 number. It was attended to instantly. The same lady picked us up in designated area as we made our way there, we waited for, oh, 25 seconds :p (The depot is a couple minutes drive away)
The Vitz we had was exactly as advertised, 2008 and clean, 3 people in my group travelled around in it in comfort.
Not knowing what to do in Nelson, Omega staff really went out of her way helping us to know the area - and what a beautiful area it was. I'll defs go again. Highly recommended.
