Very relaxed atmosphere. Great coaching by the hire people to learn safety using equipment and pointers for beginners. Fun.
J.Best price in town! I would give 10 stars if I could. Dan is once of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He and his helpful, friendly staff got out whole group of 7 up and kayaking within minutes. The equipment was clean and well kept, and they had storage for personal items and dry bags available to keep phones and cameras safe.
R.I highly recommend for bike repair, Dan went far beyond our expectation. We are touring New Zealand and had a bad downbreak. Dan proactively looked at it as well at other signs of failure on both our bikes and put all his effort and time into repairing/solving it. Big THANK YOU Dan !

From start to finish, Dan and the guys took great care of us. We were able to rent a sea kayak last minute from them. They got us kitted out with what we needed and it was the trip of a lifetime.
T.Dan and Nick were so incredibly helpful . We had catastrophic breakdown on a cycle trip and they pulled out all the stops to get us back on the road. Dan is a very experienced (creative) cycle repair mechanic! It's a beautiful spot on the beach and they have an excellent range of boats, boards and bikes for hire. Couldn't recommend enough!

S.Superb time! Dan is super friendly and helpful. We rented kayaks on our first day and had a blast! Paddled around the inner islands and had a picnic on one! The next day we sailed in the morning and hired bikes in the afternoon for the Waitangi mountain bike park. Great fun! Very affordable prices. I can totally recommend no matter what your budget! Next time you might get me on a Paddleboard!

Was awesome me and my boyfriend doubled up on a Kayak for 2 & a half hours such a good price for $50 We wanted to go back the next day to spend the whole day exploring all the Bays of Islands and more... Swims and adventure on a secluded beach/es we adventured too without a care in the world. So much fun I can't wait to go back. As for the owner super cruisey guy friendly as just toped off our day.
D.Highly recommended. Good old fashion honesty and service which is rare these days. We planned to hire bikes for our young family but Dan was worried it was unsafe for the little ones as we would have been riding on the highway. Instead we went kayaking which the kids loved. It also meant Dan made less money from us but he was more interested in our welfare than his hip pocket. Although we were not prepared to go kayaking Dan provided us with swim shorts, towels, water proof bags and water. Thanks mate for making our day in the Bay of Islands a memorable one!
T.Hands down, THE BEST and cheapest rental place in town!! Recently rented a mountain bike, and had an absolute blast biking through the bike park!

a.Had a great experience hiring equipment through Bay Beach Hire. Nick and Dan were so helpful in everything, from getting us set up, explaining the weather, and even checking in on us while we were out kayaking for 3 days, 2 nights. The kayak was of very high quality and they were able to help out with some camping equipment as well. Would highly recommend, get out on the water to see the beautiful Bay of Islands. Paihia is just a gateway to everything that is out there, so jump in a kayak, paddle out there and see it!

P.Had an AWESOME time renting a kayak from bay beach hire. The guys at the shop are friendly, funny and knowledgeable. They made sure I knew exactly where to go to kayak to the falls and helped me get into the boat when I was struggling (thanks!). The prices are reasonable too!
C.We rented a double kayak for the day. It was such a great experience. Dan gave us great advice on which route to take and we actually stumbled upon a pod of about 8 dolphins and had such a great time with them being curious of the kayak. A super cheap alternative to paying for a boat tour with a much more personal experience with the coastline and nature in the bay.

C.Fantastic experience every time! Very reasonable rental rates, and expert local knowledge about where to go, tides, weather, and pretty much anything else you would want to know. Dan was super friendly and incredibly helpful, and pointed us in the right direction for our ability and experience level. The equipment was good quality and in good condition. I have been here several times over the past few years and have always had a great experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Bay Beach Hire to anyone wanting to rent some gear and get out and about in Paihia.
M.Friendly staff, though you must know what you're asking for. If we hadn't asked for spray skirts with our sea kayak, I don't think we'd have gotten them.
The price is slightly lower than that of the only competitor in paihia. We paid $75 for a double sea kayak for 4 hours. It would be $95 for a full day.
Crossing over to Russell takes around 45min to an hour, and within 2 hours you'll be around the bend.
The sea is generally calm and paddling is easy. There are lots of beaches you can spend some time on, easily accessible.
C.After I went to BOI for the first time, I quickly realized, I need to come back for an overnight kayak adventure. I phoned all options in the region and as the plans I had were both adventurous and demanding, no company wanted to support me. Until I spoke with Dan: He was very open and after I told him I had some sea-kayaking experience, we talked about the options I had and we arranged date and time. As safety is always important, Dan didn't want to comit to anything he can't ensure and wanted to have a call on the departure day to check for weather with me. In preparation for our trip, Dan just wanted to know all the stuff we need (matress, snorkel, fins, goggles, gas cooker) and charged very small extra fee (compared to all other companies). He even sharpened a knife for us and gave us a kayak fishing line. Dan recommended incredible places like Sunset Bay Campsite. The sea-kayak was very stable and of high quality, it had a well-functioning rodder which was adjusted for us on departure day. Paddles, Spray-Skirts and Life-Vests were included.
All in all, an experience that would not have been possible with such good equipment and advices. Thanks Bay Beach Hire & Dan!

I.Awesome experiences to be had here!!! Went kayaking for 3 hours yesterday and had a ball. The guys there are great and really easy going!! Nothings a problem and they get you sorted for whatever activity you choose! Can't recommend them enough! AAA+ is what I'd rate them. Go check them out. Really good rates too!

K.Just rented a kayak from here this morning and it was great! Super quick and friendly service, I was in a kayak within three minutes of walking in! Also they gave me a dry sack for my belongings and held onto a bag of stuff I didn't want to bring. Beautiful islands nearby to kayak around or to stop and have a picnic/swim on! And it was only $15 for one hour. 5/5!!
I.Dan is cool and his bikes are good. He tried his best to cater to customers’ need. When it’s busy, you may have to wait a bit, but that’s just life. Enjoy your holiday.
C.There are a couple of kayak hire places in Paihia and I can’t compare the two, but I was very happy with this one conveniently sited at the south-eastern end of the beach (with on-street parking adjacent and public toilets nearby). The equipment was sound; the rates very fair (eg two hours for $25); and the staff keen to ensure that you are safe and enjoy your session. I went out for a paddle on three consecutive mornings and was particularly impressed by the general manner and enthusiasm of the manager, Dan, who was even kind enough to offer me a bottle of water when he thought I was setting off without one.
As well as kayaks you can hire a paddle board or, for experienced sailors, a catamaran, and in addition to these water-based activities the business also specialises in mountain bikes, which appeared to be well maintained.
E.What a great morning. If you want to go explore some of the islands, Canoeing is the best way! Dan at “Bay Beach Hire” was an absolute legend, chill, fun and super happy to help get us sorted. Rented us some Kayaks for a few hours and off we went.

J.We booked for an overnight kayak trip to Urupukapuka Island. We had to reduce the number of days from what we had originally planned, and they were flexible with this.
Dan was helpful and informative- he made arrangements for our car and pick ups. He helped arrange a water taxi when it became apparent the weather wasn't suitable for kayaking the whole way back. Dan kept in touch through out and updated us with the weather reports. We always felt the team were aware of where we were and would have helped us out if required. W.Been there a few times either to hire a kayak or paddle board or to get one of their bikes. It can get very busy especially in summer but the more than friendly staff members always make sure to find the most suitable and best solution for you - no matter if you're coming as a family with kids, as a big group or as an individual person (could tell this while I was around at busy periods). They will give you the best advice on what to do (according to your time frame) and where to go depending on the weather, the tide and the winds. If you don't have any experience on the water - don't worry, they're happy to teach you the basics you'll need to know to have a relaxed and safe experience! They are maintaining their gear (from mountain bikes over kayaks to paddle boards) very well and update the fleet regularly. My happy place in town to spend some time out at this beautiful spot!

T.I cannot recommend Bay Beach Hire enough! Dan Hirzel is super friendly and goes out of his way to help out all if his customers. He knows his stuff and the service he provides is tops!! If you're planning on visiting Paihia, drop in and see Dan. You can kayak or paddle board for a couple of hours then rent one of his MTB bikes and go riding up at the Waitangi Mountain Bike Park or the Twin Cycle Trail. v.Great guy!! He really took great care of us --from the parasailing booking to the paddleboard & kayak rentals --we felt like a part of the family. Not to mention that he came out to rescue us when it was clear that we had gone too far out and couldn't make it back reasonably.
Now I know everyone's going to say you shouldn't have gone out too far, etc, but some things are just out of your control. I'm not going to divulge further details about what happened as there's no point to it. The point is that he and his team took great care of us and made sure we had a great time and we did!!

D.It's been a long time since I visited, 2000/01 to be exact, but I spent 10 amazing weeks in Paihia and most days I was out on the water in one of Tony and Merva's kayaks of ali-craft that we used to fish from. Really made everyone feel welcome, just hope I can return one day with my wife and boys so they can experience what I did.

Nicht ganz billig, aber dafür professionell. Gibt ein eigenes Angebot für TA Hiker um nach Waikare zu kommen. Die Rucksäcke werden mit dem Auto zum Landeplatz gebracht. Gibt einen Gruppenrabatt, also schauen, dass man ein paar Leute zusammen bringt.
