H.This was my first time ever to hire a car here in NZ, and it was a very good experience with Apex. The booking was so easy, not expensive, and everything is clear (no hidden charges). The website shows you everything you need to know. I've got the 2.4l Rav4 for 3 days to attend a workshop in Matamata (the hobbiton), and the car was clean, smooth and swift (we didn't face any issues with the vehicle). Returning the car was even easier and everything done in less than a minute. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and great range of cars.
G.Easy to book and pay online with sharp prices and an excellent selection of modern cars in good order. From pickup to returning the rental car 7 days later they were easy to deal with. We drove 2200km with no problems and would book a car again for future travel.
J.Always a great experience. Easy pick up and drop off. Staff are cheerful and knowledgeable. The cars are always clean and drive well. Not a single issue.
A.Our go to for car rentals, we find they have a great selection of nice cars for a very reasonable price.
The best thing about it is you can return the car after hours with no additional fee (depending on when you've booked the car from of course).
Staff are always super friendly and I've never had any issues with any of the cars I've driven, we've even been upgraded a number of times for free (which other car companies sneakily try to charge you for when they don't have the car they promised you).
A.Fairly easy process and city and airport locations make it easy. The windscreen of the car they gave me was smeared on the inside - quite a dangerous experience to be driving towards the sun. I cleaned it as best as I could on my journey, and told the guy at the drop off. He was apologetic, but I reckon it was months of build-up. I hope they do better for future customers on this one aspect.
J.If you want to hire a vehicle... Go to apex... Great motors, great service easy to deal with.. And well priced.. Straight forward process easy peasy... I highly recommend them
M.I've been using Apex all over NZ for years now. Hassle free, easy to rent, great service, and never any problems with any of the vehicles - super reliable. They've even disconnected the Newby go slow chip off the low end cars now too! I only say that as previously I'd had some under powered smaller cars which struggled up some of the hills! I understand why, the last thing they want is newby tourists, or joy riders speeding around I guess. Opt for a new shape Carolla, sedan or hatch, and you cant go wrong. Far better value, good space, drive really nicely with fast responsive power for getting out of trouble and hauling up the heights. Reasonable litres per 100km when you fill up with 91 as well. No drama when handing back, as long as you've looked after the rental. Friendly staff and consistent service at all the stations I've visited.
T.We picked up the vehicle a little after 9AM, easy to find, folks were professional and friendly, everything was ready, on our way in less than 10 minutes. Dropped it off in Auckland 10 days later, Anthony assisted us checking us out promptly, great guy, and took us straight to the airport. No problems, unlike other car rental companies we have dealt with in the past. Would highly recommend them and use them again in the future, Thanks!
C.Gavin (?) is a lord of efficiency and chill vibes. It was raining and I wore a sweater that was too itchy, so I was already stressed when I arrived. Anyway, the dude with the big beards made everything happen so easily. It wasn’t even a problem to add my girlfriend to rental. Someone did rear end the car while it was parked but that’s another story for another time....
B.Booked 3-4 times. Received Good service and our questions were clarified. Comparatively cheap than other rental agencies in NZ and having variety car models to opt.
S.Friendly staff. Convenient location. The only negative is the low wall that divides the forecourt from the footpath. Who wants to humiliate themselves by scraping the side of the car when driving off? In case you wonder though, I made a safe exit. And the car was brilliant to drive! Returning it was a simple process too.
D.These guys are great. Very friendly and helpful. Hired a 4yo RAV4 which, while it had a few marks on the outside, was clean inside and didn't miss a beat. Thoroughly recommend.
Next time I come to NZ, I won't hesitate to use Apex.

D.Had a fabulous, friendly, efficient service in Wellington office with Gavin and I think Connor. Returned the car to Auckland wanting to rent for return trip 10 days later! Unfortunately my father in law died and had to rent car a lot sooner. Auckland would not help me on compassionate grounds as the rentals had gone up and were over a $100 a day. Also I had left some CDs in the car and notified them before it was valeted. Never heard back. Ring again was told nothing could be done as car had been rented out again
So I rung the Wellington office and Gavin had no hesitation in organising me a great car at a great price. No comparison to Auckland’s dismissive attitude!
When I went to pick car up in Auckland they would not accept my card as did not have my name on it. I told them it was accepted in Wellington and had to get there for a funeral! They weren’t going to budge until I burst into tears!
So to cut a long story short APEX Welly 12/10. Fabulous service! APEX Auckland 1/10. Really unfriendly, disinterested staff!
