I found it very easy to hire a car from Omega. The service was prompt and hassle free. The car had a lot of car air fresheners applied which I suspect was to cover the smell of cigarettes that may have been used in a previous hire. Would definitely consider using again.

It was no problem for the staff to give me an upgrade when the original model I'd hired was unavailable. And there were no issues when I had to extend the duration of my rental several times. Very nice car to drive and made my 6 hour road trip very comfortable. On my return, I left hour later than planned due I think to the clocks going forward the night before, so returned car 1 hour later than booked. Rang the office who assured me this was ok and dropped car off using after hour procedure. Good service and good car. Would use company again.

I hadn't heard of Omega Car rentals previously and as they were considerably cheaper than the big name rivals, I was a little hesitant to proceed wondering if they would be a reliable rent. But because of their AA association and good reviews, I rented a premium Budget car for a four day trip. The car had a few scratches and dings but preformed well, was reliable and economical. The pick up and drop off were quick and uncomplicated. I would definitely use them again - and recommend them without hesitation :)

I have used Omega a number of times now when visiting NZ and have nothing but praise for the service. On my last trip, I lost a hubcap on my last day - it had clearly been stolen at my last stop - and the staff assured me it was all ok and that they had plenty of spares. We rented a Mazda Demio while our own car was at the panel beaters, so we mostly used it for local running about. The car was very tidy and all the blemishes had been clearly noted, so that there was no argument upon return. Did not make any exciting trips so no photos! We found the pick-up point convenient, and the staff very courteous. Recommended.

Good cars, good price, awful service. I rented a SUV from Wellington city to Auckland Airport. I was running 2 minutes late and I called them but the staff was very rude and put me on hold. Luckily, I managed to make it to their office in time. Upon the collection of my car, the reception staff was very rude and unapologetic. Pathetic service in Wellington city office! But good car and in great condition. However, their office staff at Auckland airport branch was great. They were nice, understanding and made us feel comfortable.

Called their 0800 number and was impressed by the professionalism of the staff I spoke too. I cannot believe the reasonable price for the rental. We were happy with the car we got. We hired Omega cars from Christchurch to Picton and from Wellington to Auckland. Before we arrived their email answers to questions were quick and helpful. Pick ups, drop offs and shuttles were seamless! Staff were very friendly and adjusted our car exchange at the ferry at the same rate when we decided not to take the same car over and even bought our ferry tickets for us (added to our bill but saved us the bother). Their offices are a couple of minutes from the airports but that meant we were away from the mayhem there sooner and the shuttle was efficient. We were able to practice left side driving away from the busy airport traffic! Charges were much less than the bigger rental companies. Our vehicles were about 3 years old but quite problem free and handled well. We were happy with the Corolla and glad we were not driving a large camper van on New Zealand roads!

In my recent enquires for rental cars for NZ road travel and for a recent Wellington hire, I found that Omega has friendly, professional & efficient people in the ‘front line’. Prompt email confirmation and follow up plus a very good customer experience at pickup and drop-off.

If you’re between 18-20 the bond will be $2500 (unless you use a credit card) which you won’t see until you’ve confirmed the booking. The lady was nice enough to offer a zero excess with $18 a day insurance and $0 bond as an alternative. The quality of car is pretty good, minor scratches and rips but otherwise immaculate. If you wish to return a car early there is a 72 hour notice period, then you can receive a refund from that time on.

We were very happy with our Omega car and car rental experience. In comparing prices, they had the best deal, but they did not skimp on their service. We were picked up at our hotel in Wellington and taken to their center and dropped at our hotel in Auckland after returning the car because it was raining. Rented a car from Omega for 4 days. Got a lift from Wellington ferry terminal from their staff. Getting a car quality as per booking. Car fuel was full tank initially and we returned the same. At Auckland after we returned the car, their staff sent us back to our rented apartment, excellent. Overall we are very happy with Omega quality and their service. We used Omega car rentals on the South Island and then again on the North Island of New Zealand. The staff, both dropping off and picking up the cars were very friendly and helpful. There were no extra charges from what we had booked on the internet. We didn’t have to wait in line anywhere, we were helped as soon as we went in. We also noticed a long line up of people off the ferry in Picton waiting to get their car rental, with Omega the customers were picked up and taken to their site right away. Both the cards we rented were clean and in good condition. We had compared prices online when we were booking and Omega offered us the best deal. There were no extra charges to drop the cars off in a different place from where we had rented them. We would definitely use Omega again and would recommend them to others.

Pretty good, range of models is a bit limited, but their cars seem fairly recent, ours was a 3-y-o Toyota Corolla and the charges fairly low. The location on Hutt Road is close to bus stops on both sides of the road.

Overall, I was very happy with the service and vehicle from Omega. They very always very quick in responding to my questions via email before, even if I had to change the vehicle class shortly before pickup. Good to know: The vehicles aren't the newest ones (our SUV had > 180k km) but they are well maintained, not smelly in any way, and in comparison, their prices are much cheaper than the bigger popular brands.

We picked up again an Omega car at the north island in wellington. The office is outside the city centre at the north. Not difficult to find. We had to wait somewhat for the checking in due to only one staff memeber and other customers. We again received a toyota corolla with about 100000 km on the clock. The car was in good condition except that one of the outdoor mirrors was a bit loose as it had lost a screw with the previous renter. As it was weekend and the technicians were not present the staff had heavily taped the mirror to ensure it would not fall off. No other spare cars were available. The mirror held well during our drive to Auckland.

We hired our car for a week while in New Zealand. We picked up from Wellington which was very efficient and informative. Unfortunately the GPS we had also hired was faulty and ran out of power in a few hours. We were refund the cost of this when we dropped the car off at Auckland Airport with out any issue. Airport shuttle very good. Our only slight annoyance was not being able to contact anyone on either depot by phone? It would have been more reassuring to talk to someone about the faulty GPS rather than email. However emails answered quickly😃. Thank you Omega

I had a good experience with Omega Wellington, and would use again. When comparing prices, most of the other providers' quotes were much higher. TBH as a newbie driver, first-time car-renter, and solo female I had my radar on for rip-offs but hiring was hassle-free, with none of the cons that I'd read about when researching car hires. Staff at the wellington central branch were friendly and chilled. I heard that the vehicle selection is wider at the airport branch.

Great experience ! after a couple of hiccups with their call centre the rental experience was a dream. The car was "well used" so there was no stress about the odd stone chip I've had with other car rentals. Mechanically it was perfect everything worked well, they obviously have some good mechanics. The free city centre pick up and return to our hotel made things easy and we appreciated Ian's advice about out trip and some less common places that were worth a visit. We will be using their ferry booking and car swap service on our next trip - smart marketing by Ian whilst returning us to our hotel.

Service was great. Car was new and very clean. Why not 5 stars? I felt the daily charge including insurance was a little deceiving sorry... had a strict budget which I thought would have covered 2 weeks to find there was a $2500 excess charge on the daily rate advertised, so had to buy a lower excess for my nervous/peaceful state of mind. This cut my ability to rent for only one week... insurance was almost as much as the daily rate, I don't think NZ car insurance is that high...

Had to make some changes to the rental length due to uncertainties with our break, and no problems for the Omega team. One minor issue is the reliance on 0800 numbers, which international (at least my Aussie Vodafone) phone can not access easily a +64 number easier to find would be good.

The only thing that should be made clearer is that you need to phone them to collect you from airport and ferry terminals. This is a problem if you travel internationally and arrive in NZ without a NZ phone or sim. Other than that, no problems!

So easy to deal with. we booked a car for 6 days travelling from the bottom to top of the North Island. We phoned ahead to be picked up from the ferry terminal at Wellington, a very friendly man was waiting for us when we arrived. Check-in was super easy and everyone was helpful and even pointed us in the right direction. It was a Nissan Tiida which was a great little car and could not fault it. We dropped the car off at their Airport office and although we arrive before their opening time, there were people there and very friendly and whisked us off to the airport straight away with a minimum of fuss. Was a great experience overall! The rental car depot in Wellington is a bit of trek from the city centre (we were thinking of walking and it would have been an hour walk) but upon contacting Omega they were happy to pick us up from our accomodation in town. We got a stationwagon for an affordable price and the customer service at the depot was satisfactory and they answered all of our questions. The car did really well for the 6 days we rented and was quite fuel efficient. Return of the car at Wellington airport was a breeze and they had a shuttle service to the airport just around the corner. Would rent with omega again!

The rental car worked great, the employees where we picked up the car in Wellington made sure we knew what we were getting into with driving on the opposite side of the road, and drop off in Auckland went very smoothly. The only downsides, which we found minor: 1. the drop off is a few min drive from the Auckland airport, but they have a shuttle that comes by relatively frequently, and our shuttle driver was very friendly, and 2. The closing time for the center at Auckland airport was a little unclear, so we weren't sure if we had to drop it at a park-and-fly lot or not around the 5:30 to 6:30 window, but a quick call to the center cleared it up. Overall, found the process very smooth.

A bit of communication at the start, but everything turned out OK. The car we hired, had the radio in Japanese, so we could not understand any of the language, and the reversing camera did not work. Otherwise there was no trouble with the car mechanically. A plus for the company is that they do a free shuttle from the airport / ferry terminal to their office and vice versa.

We booked the car because Omega had the best deal! Good Price and Good Staff Service. The insurance had all cover, and we didn't pay a lot more for having an excess-free policy (about NZ$5 extra p/day), they didn't charge for one-way drop off fee (that in most of the car rentals do) and had unlimited Km's. In Auckland took a while for them to give us the car because apparently they received some cars back and they had to clean them. But we got a good Nissan Sunny, in good shape, the only thing was that as it was automatic, consume a fair bit amount of petrol, but overall was good. The staff in Wellingtong was very nice and kind, they even gave us a ride to the cbd to our hotel! That is quality of service and exceeding expectations! Well done Omega!

Great service from start to finish. I booked online a couple of months in advance and was impressed with their pricing. I originally hired for 6 days and ended up wanting the car a few hours longer on the last day which was no hassle, just rang up and they did it free of charge as no one else had booked the car. The car was pretty much in good running order except we found that when going 100km/h the car made a loud revving sound like a motorbike was nearby which was quite annoying for the whole trip. The only recommendation would be to have an instruction manual or just walk us through the disc/audio/gps feature of the car as it had us located in what looked like Great Britain the whole trip and the language was foreign so had no idea how to navigate. Also with technology as it is now it would be good to have an audio input for connecting phones to the audio system. Also a side note for your business perhaps you could look at having the option of getting a car USB charger as an add on for your services as we do not own a car so will not use the $45 one we bought for a while! Overall, great service, clean, operating car, and would return again.

Having no car of our own we hire vehicles, typically for a few days quite often. Over the years we have hired from most of the other firms, usually with good outcomes but Omega stand out as just that bit better. For best results, try to phone and ask for the branch you are hiring from directly as they seem to be able to pull a few more options out of the hat than the central booking system. Staff are friendly, obliging and will often pick you up, or drop you off at a nearby station, port, hotel or even house at no extra charge. It is sometimes cheaper to use a short term hire than public transport, not to mention far more convenient.

We hired a car for 4 weeks from Auckland to Queenstown and was very impressed with Omega and its staff, especially in Wellington and Queenstown. Also the call centre centre were excellent when I made the booking and asked for assistance when I felt one tyre could be a little low on tread, probably because I was doing a lot of klm. I was asked to call into Wellington to get it lookedat but didn't get there until 2.30 Friday arvo. They were fantastic and solved the issue (too late to get the right tyre so they swapped the car). The cars are a bit older (mine were 2011 and 2014) but clean and reliable, in good condition and cost way way less than the major hire companies.

She said I would of received an email. She checked and found no email was sent. She then made some changes on her system and found a car I could use. Affordable car hire- older cars in average condition. The first car had a dodgy battery (which went flat after a few minutes with the lights left on) - the AA wanted over $170 just to turn up to jump start us! The two cars we hired were fitted with Asian sound systems- so the KRUSE GPS/tour guide we hired privately had difficulties with audio in town areas (bleed through by local radio). Convenient shuttle to airport provided.

We were quite happy with the Masda Premecy. Drove it all the way across the north island (twice!) and it gave us no problems. The staff was very chill and not as strict about pick-up and return times as they could have been, which was nice. Agreed that Omega is not in the most convenient location but it's doable. Also, you are given and have to return cars with 25% tank instead of full, which is a bit odd and we ended up overspending because the tank was closer to 40% at return. Overall though, quite satisfied and would rent here again.
