We dined at Jolly Good Fellows last night. The bar and restaurant were full (so good to see) - We had booked for a Table of 8 - The staff - every single one of them smiling, happy and super helpful. The entrees and drinks came out so fast - followed by dinner. The food was some of the best we have had in Taupo - and as a local we do like to eat out. We are lucky to have so many great options in Taupo. Sif you haven't had a meal at Jolly's - we recommend you stop in and give it a go!!

We celebrated our Xmas Eve dinner at Jolly Good Fellows while we were on holiday. Service = ok, meals = average, pricing = I considered slightly over priced for what we were plated up.... views = stunning!

We absolutely love Jolly Good Fellows. The service we recieved on both ocassions thus far was simply sublime. Food was so good, ready really fast even on a busy saturday night. Best cocktails. Im amazed at the prices for such quality and presentation. The owners clearly put a lot of love into this place to give us an awesome night out. Thank you JGF!

Fantastic place, food was excellent the Guinness was perfect. The waitress who's name was Samantha greeted us, came back with ice cold water and menus. She could tell us that there was no wait on our meals which was all we wanted to hear. Will definitely be coming here again 10/10.

Great views, fantastic atmosphere and reasonable prices. Most of the staff bar one young waitress were lovely. Will definitely be back. Loved all our meals and the kids meals particularly were well worth the money.

We usually eat here when we are passing thru Taupo, the meals here are really good. We ate lunch here today and the young man serving us was doing it all by himself. He did an amazing job as he was the only staff member working front of house and it was quite busy. Our meals and drinks arrived in good time and we enjoyed them. Would definitely recommend!!

Place was full when we came so have to wait when a table became available. A bit of a wait for our orders too. I was getting hungry so ate at once when my dinner came, so no pictures Food was delicious. Friendly staff. Family friendly and relaxed athmosphere. Great view of lake Taupo.

The service was amazing such nice people. We git blankets when we sat outside and the view is gorgeous .the food was so nice I really recommend.

Only had to deal with one staff throughout our dinner and she was lovely. Service was quick and food was delicious and our group loved it. Only problem we had initially was that we had a hard time finding the place from the main road. The signage doesnt look well lit in the evening let alone the front is covered with shrubs. Also did not find any parking space for customers. Apart from those still a great restaurant.

Awesome food and service with a great looking of Lake Taupo. All staffs are very friendly and helpful. There are lots of car parking in off street. Only weekends are very busy it’s too tough to find out the car park near the shop. But other times it’s very easy to get the car park. We enjoy our evening over. I think you also will enjoy there food and Beauty of lake Taupo.

Just got some food from the Jolly Good Fellows while visiting Taupo. This is a English styled pub & resteraunt just off the lake front which give great views. There is also outdoor seating available also. The menu offers a traditional English food and drinks. The food i ordered was delicious and was a good sized portion. (Bangers and Mash) I also ordered a pint of Guinness but it wasnt that nice to be honest, but the pint was finished with a tradional shamrock which was a nice touch. But being Irish I am used to high quality pints of Guinness and had to leave the last 1/4 unfinished as it had quite an after taste. But apart from the pint everything was great. The setting is very casual and the service was brilliant. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have some casual food or drinks in the Taupo area.

Dinner was excellent mussels creamy & mussels salsa both tasty dishes the best & friendliest service thanks to Jayden he made our night extra special with his kindness & generous nature thanks so much.

Decent place just 30 meters from the lake shore - you can enjoy the view while you eat. I had a fish and chips with mushy peas and I can easly recommend it even to fish avoiders - it was fresh and delicious. Good value for money for sure. This place is also very kids friendly. Perfect place to refuel whilst at the beach. Very friendly staff, too! Thanks.

Was busy when we got there and the wheels were falling off already, we should have left when we realised. It was a long night of waiting. The service was appalling. We asked for water on multiple occasions but nobody brought us any. It was 29 degrees when we were there m, sat in the sun outside. I could see 12 water jugs on uncleared tables around the restaurant. They didn’t have the wine I asked for so presented me with something else without offering me other options. Worst part was a 15% holiday surcharge, which not one of the people seating or serving us mentioned, but I still had to pay, also the wine I couldn’t get was still on the bill at the end The food was the saving grace, good food, big servings. Pity about the rest of the experience. Not worth the price.

My favourite English styled pub when staying along the lakefront. Freehouse with a unique selection of English and NZ beers on tap. Great pub meals, can get a bit busy in the tourist season. I apologise to our overseas guests if you experience the mature managers worst side.

This was the surprise ever.... lamb shank pie was unbeliveable !! Value for money.....good depth of flavour, great match of guiness, staff very knowlegable of staff and fab service Moira, Restaurant Manager, super helpful and friendly. Always greets us with a big smile.

Food was okay with a hearty portion. Ordered the fish burger and it was the battered fish fillet with the usual vegs and bread. The place offers a good view of the Lake Taupo.

We were in Taupo for the weekend. A large group dining in on Saturday night. Still in Level 2 mode and the staff were very good with the rules. But, most important, the food was fabulous. I had the grilled fish and my fiance had lamb shank. Absolutely worth dining in.

15 people went to the Jolly Farmer tonight all of us super happy with the service and the food. The atmosphere is really great and the menu is so varied and suited all 15 of us. The portions are super generous and the prices are fair. We heard about this place from friends, with a big group ranging from English people, Thai people and Kiwis everyone was happy and that doesn’t happen very often when we all go out. If you go to Taupo put it on your list you will not regret it. I didn’t get the name of the person who looked after us which I regret I hope she reads this review. Thank you from all of us you were amazing and looked after us so well without any mistakes. Great restaurant will be back

Indoor and outdoor sitting by the lake front brings the amazing view of the scenic beauty. We enjoyed the dinner and it is close to a fine dining experience. Food was very good and the service was just right. The happy staff and customer service bring an extra star to the grazing activity 🤣

Fabulous service and delicious food!!! I had the Haloumi Cheese salad. Wow! The flavors were extraordinary and definitely filled me up. The view was stunning as well, watching the sun set over Lake Taupo.

One of the waiters very arrogant & inflexible initially. But she changed her tune (I think she overheard me talking to wife giving bad review lol). In end food was nice & all ended up good.

A Jolly good atmosphere, fantastic service and perfection on a plate! My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed our T-Bone steak meal which was cooked puurrfectly, and accompanied with a beautiful mushroom sauce that will leave you licking your plate! Fantastic service by the wonderful yet humorous ladies within a warm and welcoming environment! A must for an all round dinning experience and highly recommended! Thank you lovelies! 😍

Varied menu, friendly and attentive staff working under difficult circumstances (Cov19 level 2 restricions). Good range of real ale although now sadly depleted until next shipment again due to Cov19. No musak or tv ( there is a tv but the sound isn't on and it's not visible from most seats.) All the meals we have had here have been excellent but I'd particularly recommend the Thai beef salad and the Beef and Guinness pastie.

Highly recommended place, top service and reasonable prices. Foods are delicious and the drinks are cold. :)

In Taupo for the Anzac Weekend. Booked a motel but forgot to book a table anywhere. Had to sit out in the cold for a bit but they eventually squeezed us in, unlike anyone else. And did that meal go down well!! Thumbs up and Thanks!! So good!! Jolly Good Fellows indeed!!

We spent 2 weeks in New Zealand period of all of the restaurants we visited during the 2 weeks, we think this was our favorite place. The people are very nice. The atmosphere is very fun and laid back. We wished the menu had a few more different items on it but everything we ate in our 3 visits was really good. Prices are very reasonable. We stayed just around the corner from here so it was not only convenient but also the best food and drinks and people that we found during our time in New Zealand.

Most amazing atmosphere and fantastic staff in particular Moi - she is the most enthusiastic and wonderful waitress I have ever come across. Every time we visit she is upbeat and has the biggest smile and a huge asset :) Her attitude and the great food is why we keep coming back every time we visit Taupo. Thanks again!

Meals are brilliant, wine and beer, great selection, staff are great, and service also the best. Actually, I think this is the best restaurant/bar in Taupo at present. Keep it up.

Had weekend in Taupo for wife's birthday and called in her on day 1. So impressed went back again. Staff really nice had the guiness pasty it was amazing highly recommend this venue 👌

This little bar and restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a great meal and a great time. The staff are just beautiful people, awesomely great and will definitely be back. Wedges and bacon ohhh just mouth watering. Thank you all so much.

Best British meal I've had in New Zealand yet, wonderful service (Left a tip because they were so lovely), great prawn cocktails and fantastic mushy peas. Everything from a brit restaurant you want (Including Iron Bru) . 5 stars from me.

What a great spot this is ! Our family haven't been to Taupo for over four years but we always make a point of visiting Jolly Good Fellows when we are there. The food and service are ALWAYS predictably wonderful ! I don't know if it ever changes hands, but must say that the seamless transition from owners is what makes this place such a dependably good spot to visit and enjoy every time. Oh... the views are good too ;-) Thanks to the team of happy workers, and the cooks in the kitchen who cook up a storm making this spot special and super yummy too !!

Nice setting outside and friendly staff, our food arrived quickly considering the place was quite busy at the time. My Steak meal was delicious, however my Wife said her Chicken was dry and unfortunately our 3 year old daughters fish (kids meal) had 5 bones in it. Luckily Mum spotted them when she cut her food up. We let the staff know, as this is obvoiusly dangerous for a small child. Not a place we would rush back to despite the lovely staff. In response to the reply from Jolly Good Fellows - Of course you don't intend on serving fish with bones to kids ! Thanks for the reply anyway..

Really friendly staff and such a nice atmosphere. Ordered a steak meal, the meal was delicious and the servings very generous. I actually couldn’t finish the meal. Great place to stop if you’re driving through late at night.

My partner and I enjoyed our visit. Customer service was brilliant, waiter knew exactly what we needed even before we did haha. Food was absolutely beautiful. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Salad and I will definitely be going back for that again. Alongside I had a few of their amazing coctails. We sat outside to enjoy the sun, had an umbrella so we weren't blinded or sunburn. Can't wait to go back!!

Staff were lovely here.... probably the friendliest we encountered while in Taupo. Good pub grub just what you would expect and big portions too . Good English pub beers on tap and a few craft beers if you feel the need to.

Awesome place to dine out in. 5 star views and the food is really nice. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. Very good quality food with wonderful flavour. The food here is sure to take you to flavour town. Definitely worth going just for the views. Get a glass of wine and have a relaxing evening.

The service was great, in the bar before dinner and in the dining room. Our meals were generous, perfectly seasoned and very enjoyable. I would certainly choose this establishment to visit again. Great job, Jolly Good Fellows.

Had a good meal here and the wait staff were great on a Sunday night. On arrival the duty barman did everything possible to avoid catching our eye to the point of ignoring us with no other customers waiting for service. Our bar order was finally taken by a waitress and then served by him. He seemed more concerned with chatting to locals and his three friends sat at the bar. Rather than walk drinks the short distance to the restaurant, he would bellow 'order's up' at waitresses standing only feet away. An interesting character perhaps trying to emulate Churchill who features in the decor. A little more courtesy would have given five stars.

Staff made up for any short falls. My meat loving pal had a tough time chewin' his dry as dog balls pork (he declined gravy upon the waitress' suggestion, so his own fault, really), but was able to wash it down with a nice glass of sav. My tomato soup was stunning, served with crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside ciabatta. Our waitress was a truly beautiful soul, with an infectious personality and smile. We were sorry to decline dessert from her, but we promise to be back for it next time! A warm, inviting atmosphere.

The food was nice but the service wasn't so great.... got a bit ignored and then I never got the diet coke I ordered, my husband had to chase his first beer and then he only got 1.5 pints as opposed to the 2.5 he ordered. When we relayed this to the server when we paid, we got no apology.

I got the the salmon and roasted potato salad. I was expecting the salmon and potatoes to be the main part of the dish oh and green beans. The main part of the dish was lettuce leaves. About half a cup of potatoes, very tiny, i counted about 6. And half a cup of green beans. And a sprinkle of raw salmon all for $23. I was so disappointed as mine was 2nd to last to come out of 7 and every bodies was huge yummy looking meals. I expected salmon steak, noticeable amount of potatoes and beans and a nice salad not just leaves. So don't order that, not worth it. I wished i'd taken it back, but was embarrassed to.

Lovely bar staff . Food looks amazing so we going back tonight to try it .

Very slow and not very friendly service. The food was good but not fantastic, we had the ribs which were very good ($27!) but an 8 year old girl can eat every last piece, otherwise the food was OK. I won't be returning.😒👎

Great Pub food,fast friendly service a terrific range of beers if you're looking for that. In the summer a very popular place to dine looking out over the Lake from the outdoor dining area for lunch or dinner.

Great service with killer views of lake Taupo. The FishTaco was excellent. Clean facilities, cant comment on parking as we walked down from our accommodation. All in all a worthwhile place for “beer o’clock”

Aside from creating an epic Beef and Guinness pasty, these guys are honest, friendly and always go the extra mile. I left my iphone behind while travelling through taupo back to auckland and these found it, called one of my contacts to get them to let me know they had it, then posted it back to me free of charge. Great food, well priced, right on the lakefront, would definitely recommend!

One of the waiters Jayden was so nice and funny and even tho he was getting yelled at by people on other tables he still continued to be positive and provide a good experience

What an excellent jolly good foods, jolly good waiters/waitresses, jolly good ambience... Must try place, put in your travel stop over for meals. I can guarantee 100% satisfaction!!!
