Good old church with a very big history. The cemetery around it has some unusual stories to be told.

My father was the vicar there from 1946 to 1962. It's the third oldest church in NZ and was prefabricated in Tauranga before being brought over to the Mission Station which was where the Rose Gardens across the road from the church were. The monument to those fallen on both sides in the battle at Orakau in the 1860s stands between the old St Johns and the new St Johns.
