Reviews of Old St Paul's

Beautiful design made from fine native woods aged over 150 years. I love how spacious it is inside and the light is very good. Recommended to visit in Wellington.

Quite normal looking church building, but once you enter the cathedral, you would surprised by the breathtaking interior. The place you see colourful stained glass windows.

I was a Chorister here from around 1958 to 1962 under the leadership of organist Eric Copperwheat.
I can honestly say, they were some of the happiest years of my life and Eric was one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met.
There would be choir practise twice a week.
The choir would sing the Sunday morning service and then Evensong on Sunday evening.
We also sang at some weddings too.
When I left I had become Head Chorister.
The sound in this building is phenomenal because of the different densities of the timbers.
When you are in this space, it's like you have come home and it's like a huge cubby house.
I personally reckon that God, when he needs a break from his Godly duties, comes here and just chills out because it's that kind of place.

A beautiful cathedral located in Wellington CBD. It is the oldest church in Wellington and place to worship for Christians. The church was opened in 1866 and open since then. The design and architect is beautiful and still in the original form. It is 151 year old building (in 2017) and yet so beautiful. A must visit place if you like visiting churches and old building. This one is must.

I believe that this church is the most fascinating architectural treasure in New Zealand. If you donate some coins to support the church, a friendly gentleman will share a movie script worth story of how the curch came to exist.
