I used to frequent St Mary of the Angels to attend the weekly liturgy in my heyday as a VUW student. Sometimes, I would go there just to contemplate the future, or seek spiritual refuge. Being away from home was challenging at the time. The church is located on the corner of Boulcott Street and O'Reily Avenue in Wellington, New Zealand. It is the parish church for Wellington Central and one of the major churches of the city. The church is classified as a special or outstanding historical or cultural heritage significance. So, it's worth a visit, especially if you're a practising Roman Catholic. St Mary of the Angels is also renowned for its Gregorian Chant used in liturgies.

Lovely Roman Catholic church.. Centrally located very close to Courtney Place.. Beautiful and serene church.. Felt very peaceful.. They conduct a mass at 5.15pm everyday in the Roman Catholic rite..

Wow what an icon of architecture. I love the design of the building. Even if you're not religious, it's architecture and grandeur is great to appreciate. We went to a wedding and the light shining through the stain glass windows looked awesome. Great location for a wedding.!

It's a beautiful church. Has mass at convenient times even at noon day. It also has other sacraments available during the week, like confessions. All the opportunities that the church provides, helps us grow in our spiritual journey and that is wonderful.

My husband and I went to mass here during our honeymoon last year. Pros: -Beautiful architecture. -The choir was one of the best I've ever heard- especially on a normal, ordinary time Sunday. Cons: -Too many Extraordinary Ministers. It was excessive. -There were only two Altar Servers. One of them showed up late and tried sneaking in the back before the gospel reading. That being said, neither server really did anything during mass. If you want them to take the role seriously (and maybe even discern a vocation), please give them responsibilities. -The overall attitude of the priest seemed "casual." I'm not sure what other word to use to describe it. Everything felt off. There was such a stark contrast between the formal/beautiful architecture and music compared with the casualness of everything else. This church broke my heart a little bit. It was clearly an aging congregation, and the pews were mostly empty. We were some of the youngest in attendance that Sunday. I think I saw just one family with small children.

I was here for a Bach and Vivaldi concert. The church is beautiful in itself, and captivating. The church seemed to add a quality to the concert.

A beautiful church that is currently get the pipe organ restored. I've heard it play a long time ago and it truly is a demonstration of musical joy. The rest of the church has been lovingingly restored and looked after with fantastic and indicative wooden interiors for the time it had been built. Having mass here is an experience to cherish and likewise being part of a wedding. Praise be to all the parishners that ensures this place endours.

My Ash Wednesday was attended on the 3rd @ 5pm Church Mass, afta we missed our last year coz of Alert Level 4/Lockdown. Prayers and lit candles too n so happy to received Holy Communion coz mostly I do Virtual Masses. Misses attending Church 😪 n back on its next day. Amen. 🙏
