Excellent food for a summer day! All the staff were lovely and we felt very accommodated for. The decor is stunning, really gave off the american feel. Was such a nice atmosphere overall, even considering it being quite a busy place! HIGHLY recommend if youre ever in the area

This is a great spot in Mission Bay. Outdoor seating and simple beverage menu - great to enjoy a beer outside on a summer day or even a sunny winter's day ;). The staff are bubbly and on to it, and the food itself is so good. The fried chicken burger is always a winner, but I also have a soft spot for their hotdogs. Best of all though is the loaded fries. Such good flavours soaking through, and good healthy portions for 2 people. Mission Bay being a pricier and heavily-peopled area, dining at Bald Eagle Diner is definitely worth the spend!

Had long known this place was here, but I guess it took me four years of living away from the US to finally decide to see what they've got for a bit of nostalgia. I now know that I'm either getting the chicken n waffles (alwayyyssss tempting) or the chili cheese dog again, because that was far better than the aloha burger (I don't think you can even see the patty in the image because there's so much lettuce and other toppings). There wasn't any other hot dog option besides a chicken frank, i.e. no pork or beef dog, but it was still pretty great. Also will have to indulge in that classic nacho cheese fries side next time because that's something you definitely don't see elsewhere around NZ. Lastly, got an A&W root beer + vanilla ice cream float because it's probably been a decade or two since I've had one and I love root beer more than most other drinks. The decor definitely has the diner vibe, although it is starting to feel a little dated in upkeep more than the signage and seating. Bathrooms were clean.

Superb service, the cher & the waitress checked on our food, we had curly fries beef cheese burger and chicken tenders. They could have done witha bit ore salt but apart from that the food was amazing and cooked perfectly. Tender chicken and a medium rare burger also near perfectly cooked. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Went on a busy holiday but service was fast!! Staff are lovely and clear, answered any of our questions. I ordered the chicken and waffles however discovered the waffles were to sweet and the dish overall was average, chicken itself was amazing though. Aldo got a monster shake, presentation was awesome but taste could have been creamier. Would go again to try other items though :)

Service was great (extra friendly and helpful) and portions were large (the burger is stacked!). However the taste is just OK. We had a burger, the chilli fries, buffalo wings, sweet chilli wings and normal fries. I would recommend the sweet chilli wings and the fries, those were the best things we had. You order at the counter and water, crockery and cutlery are self service. The American diner feel is pretty cool it feels like the old BK decor.

Bald Eagle Diner is a little slice of Americana on the Mission bay front, right next to the cinema. The service was fantastic, and friendly; beware you have to order at the counter. They have a fairly varied selection of standard diner food from burgers 'n fries to waffles and hot dogs. The food was awesome, everything came out hot and at once. The burger had fresh salad and tomato on it and the fries were really tasty. You need to be hungry though, as the portions are quite big. If you're feeling in need of a sweet injection, order a Freakshake. It has more sugar than you could shake a stick at. The only thing that let's it down slightly is the state of the bathroom. That aside, this is great place for a bite to eat, it is also very kid friendly with high chairs and a changing table in the bathroom. Worth a visit, the food is really good.

Beautiful Retro American decor, good food. I had the chicken and waffles, which was pretty good, but the Mac n cheese was ever more overpriced (small serving). The chocolate freak shake was expensive and unoriginal, but delicious. Service was.. okay. No table service, pay first. The guy who brought the food was a bit on the rude side. Would be great to bring picky kids due to the simple nature of the food.

I love love love the theme and all the decoration to emphasise the American diner-like ambience. Not a HUGE menu but there is certainly something for everyone. They aren’t the cheapest place in town but a great little place to have lunch before you cross the street and head over to mission bay

Came here today with the wife to give this place a try. We got in first thing when they opened and it was also nice to know that there wasn't any surcharge even operating on a national public holiday. We ordered the following: Chocolate Thickshake Deluxe Cheese Burger Southern Fried Chicken Burger Nacho Cheese fries Waffles w/ ice cream Service: 5/5 Excellent Staff were really friendly and the lady who took our order looked after us very well with a friendly smile, and meal checks as well. Food: 2/5 Tastes OK but plenty of room for improvement - Burgers: the buns were quite dry and on the sweet side, I thought it was more of a brioche-like bun, which isn't my kind of thing. They rip apart easily when you're trying to work into the burger so you're left with a messy experience like other reviewers have said. Would be nice if they could at least provide a larger paper liner so you can use that to eat the burger without making a mess. - Nacho cheese fries: I think the fries would have been better off with the cheese sauce on the side in a container rather than smothering the whole basket with them. The sauce itself wasn't bad but you do get a bit tired of it when almost every fry is covered in the sauce. - Thickshake: chocolate flavour was lacking, and it looked a bit sad being served in a plain paper cup with a straw. Was a bit of a let down since a lot of the presentation of the food looked pretty good from the photos. - Waffles: presentation was nice, although the whipped cream was served out a bit liquid-like. The ice cream and waffles went well together so it was a nice dessert dish to enjoy. (note to staff - try to serve this dish with a fork, knife and spoon... not with a soup spoon and table spoon only). Overall the dining experience was alright, if improvements can be made on the food and the experience, I think this place can do a lot better.

The staff and decor here is really the only saving grace. Slightly disappointed with the quantity of wings for $14. 7x small wings for $14. Unfortunately won't be returning. The decor of the diner is quite impressive and looks like something you see on the TV. We grabbed a table and ordered at the counter but it did look like they did have table service. Tried the chilli dog and it wasn't spicy at all. Hotdog was nice but thought the chilli was a bit bland. The root beer float was great. It was surprising that the chilli dog arrived before the root beer float though. Quite a nice location on the main street in Mission Bay, beside the cinema. The dining area wasn't too packed with booths lining the sides.

The two girls serving were lovely but I think the place is understaffed. There are a lot of choices in Mission Bay and I was wishing we had gone next door.

Had the Momma burger. Was really happy with it. I thought the food was gonna be more fast food style but the burger was legit and more on the quality side of the burger spectrum with brioche buns and good quality meat etc. Something like burger burger or burger geek. I think everything should be $2 less per thing but it is mission bay so its expected and okay.

The best Chicken and Waffles in Auckland. I've tried several other places that serve Chicken and Waffles, and let me tell you that they have nothing on Bald Eagle. Best part for me is that the maple syrup comes in its own cup so you can adjust how much you need. Other places have them drenched all over. I also highly recommend the Cheese and Bacon Fries. The Texas Chilli Fries is also excellent. Go to BED, you won't regret it.

Booked online for 11am, when they open. Turned up early and waited until 11:10am outside while what looked like a photo shoot was packed up and taken out. Stood by the door to read the menu and was told by staff that they didn't open until 12pm, even though all the signage and their website told us 11am. After telling him I'd made a reservation online and pointing to all the signage that says they open at 11, he agreed to serve us. Food was tasty, nice atmosphere and reasonable price for the area and what you pay.

Very nice place, has all the facilities required. Staff are nice enough and served me well. I especially enjoyed the flirty female working when i came in. This is one of the fams favourite places to go have a awesome filling feed! Staff always kind and willing to help and give their opinion on the food if your looking for advice! 🤘 always go with the deluxe cheese burger with the elvis upgrade delicious! Surprised at the negative feedback. Been twice after going to see a movie next door & both times the food & service was great. One waiter and waitress in particular very friendly. Both times had the old fashioned american hotdogs. Franks bursting with juicyness. Salty caramel milkshake was particularly good. Probably the only thing that could be more like the Federal deli is having diner style outfits.

Good decor and friendly staff. Order included the buttermilk chicken - yum but desperately needs a sauce (which you have to order separately unlike the other starters) and the Texan Dawg. On the menu it says that it is topped with chilli beef however I had about half a tablespoon at one end, flavour was a bit meh. Milkshakes and cheese fries were yum.

Overpriced American fare. We went here for a quick lunch with the kids and for over $80 ended up with a few hotdogs some chips and some softdrinks. The Decor is nice, but very similar to early burger kings. Price probably has to be high to cover the rent, but unless you are specifically after basic american food you may be disappointed

First time at this retro 60s style American diner. Classic American hot dogs and burgers. We had a table of five and shared good sized orders of Chilli Chicken wings and tenders and chilli fries. I ordered a hot dog and with the sides made a good size meal, washed down with a couple of Budweisers. Root Beer is also served. Pity there were no Sloppy Joe's on the menu. All in all, a good feed at an average price and served with a smile. We'll all be back.
