I think this is my all time favorite cafe now. Sitting outside and eating food is definitely best in my books. I had the mushroom chicken fettuccine. This cafe has the most beautiful garden and the food and coffee is fantastic. The portion sizes are huge and the Banoffee pie is the best that I have ever had. It really was mouth watering! The weather wasn’t great when I was here and the garden still looked amazing. On a beautiful day this place would be well worth a drive from the city.

Great food and drink with reasonable Auckland prices, beautiful scenery and tidy staff. Great little place to stop by if you are ever in the area. Seats may be hard for the elderly and prams could get stuck in the path during winter rain seasons. Worth it though as the garden is perfect for children to play in while mum/dad sits down for a cuppa.

Lovely little garden cafe. Apple and boysonberry pie was warm and delicious with fresh cream. Fresh flowers on the tables :) Note: Only one toilet + one portaloo at the bathroom here.

Love coming here for lunch. Sometimes its busy other times not, so hard to predict. Nice to get a table outside. Kids love it here too. Good, extensive menu and amazing cabinet foods and desserts. Think between hubby and I we have almost tried everything on the menu. Highly recommend the banoffee pie!

Great location, almost looks like it could be a wedding venue if your numbers are small. They were very busy and had trouble keeping up with orders as well as clearing tables; at least one staff member appeared new so they are trying to address that issue and just need some time to get up to speed.

Wonderful location and good service but after many years of the same food options it is time to make a few changes to the menu - also, when you make price changes have the good sense to print new menus and don't stick the new price on the old menu - just tacky. Having visited regularly for several years I am now too disappointed to continue. Buck up Calendula, time to stop taking your custom for granted.

The cafe has changed owners once again. Means you get to try old favorites and see if the new owners have a different take on taste. The coffee's still pretty good so that's a relief 😆🤣🤣 I'll be going back there again as it's a lovely place to sit and chat with friends

Just had a lovely morning tea with my daughters here. First time visiting and had a chocolate brownie and waffles. Have heard the food has gone downhill. Have been so don't know but I have pretty high standards when it comes to food and we were all very happy. Beautiful tranquil atmosphere and staff all very friendly and smiley too. Lovely place! We were 7 with 3 kids, meals were very quick to be served (less than 10mn after ordering), the food was very tasty, there is a lovely garden and lots of space for the kids to play. Highly recommended!

Eggs Benedict comes with a sort of frittata instead bread. It was nice though but quite small for the average quantity and price. Beautiful backyard. Very relaxing. Staff could be a bit more friendly.

I enquired about purchasing a voucher for my grandfather for his 90th birthday. I live in Australia and we were originally supposed to be over there but had our flights cancelled for Covid. Thanks to the team at Calendula Cottage who were extremely helpful, they arranged everything for me. I spoke to my Mum last night as they booked for yesterday afternoon, they said it was great, the food was lovely and the setting was perfect. My grandfather thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks again and we will be sure to visit when we are actually able to get over there to see our family :-)

Amazing location, great food, staff and service. We have had lunch here a couple of times and dinner too. Always a pleasure. The gardens surrounding the cafe are beautifully kept and help create a lovely atmosphere. The menu always has something new to try and plenty of favourites, good team here working well to make something special.

The food was very very good. Highly recommend the banoffee pie and plum pie. Slices are huge so split with a friend. Gardens are very nice and worth a look on a nice day. Ample car park. Kids can enjoy the garden while adults enjoy the food and coffee.

Have been to this café a few times over the years. The last time we went (about 1 year ago) was a bit of a disaster as the food was very slow to arrive (about 45 minutes wait). My sister and I turned up last week with our children in toe - the carpark was packed - plenty of people around and we thought we would give it a go. I was anticipating a very slow wait given the number of people there but was very surprised when our food came out very quickly after we had ordered. The gardens have been tidied up and look great. Have subsequently reported to a few friends the service was definitely up to scratch, great atmosphere and our meals were tasty. Will be visiting again in the near future.

Booked for 6 mid week and we were allocated a bbq table and one chair. The table comfortably seats four. Therefore, given the lack of space, my father and one son opted to sit at another table. Not ideal! The seating on the outdoor furniture was wet. Therefore with no cushions or blankets provided, not an option either. Dissapointing! Food and service were average.

Lovely place with good food and service. Ideal if you have been or going to Glenbrook vintage railway. Only reason for 4 star is coffee was a bit watery and not very warm even though is asked for extra hot.

A pretty place to stop by for lunch. I would recommend the cakes and tarts in the counter the menu other are not up to the same standard. If you're in the area on Friday or Saturday evening try the pizza. In winter it will pay to check the opening hours.

Best.Wedding. Ever. We chose Calendula Cafe for our recent wedding. Gareth, Paul, Noleen, Lizzie and the whole team worked with us from the beginning of our planning (on a cold and wet wintery day!) to the warm and sunny spring day that we had for our wedding – but they did provide a ‘wet day Plan B’! Everything was perfect; The catering, the service, the attention to detail and above all, having us always feel welcome, worked with our ideas, had some fantastic suggestions of their own and guided us with the whole process. On our wedding day itself, it was like spending the day in a good friend’s garden (that also had the benefit of a commercial kitchen and fantastic staff and excellent setting for photo’s!)
