C.We stumbled onto this quaint little cafe when we were heading to another brunch spot. Such a fortunate change of events because this place is such a gem! The coffee is good but the lasagna is even better. It’s on the sweeter side but I love it. The seating is also on the outdoors. Fancy some refreshing breeze while enjoying your meal, this is the spot. My Sunday has been brightened. Thank you coffee pen.
S.Was recommended to come here for their wagyu beef pie and coffee. Perfect start to our Saturday. Their management of a one-in-one-out system is great during covid times. Outdoor seating was cozy and tranquil.

Not a soggy bottom in sight with a beautiful fudgy layer separating cream from wicked chocolate brownie base.
Full marks for the flavours, textures, espresso kick, and avoidance of choke-inducing levels of cocoa on top.
All bow down to the masters of the tiramisu quest.
A.Our first time doing click and collect from coffee pen, tried the eggplant sandwich and katsu chicken brioche. It did not disappoint at all, will definitely come back for more.

Great food. All home made and a lot of it still in its baking. Limited seating of which nearly all is outside. Seems to be Japanese owned.

J.Literally one of the BEST coffee in Auckland. Very small but 2 long tables outside so when it's sunny, it's such a nice place to grab brunch and coffee with a friend. Quiet atmosphere and homebaked goods like quiche, lasagne and desserts available. Top 3 favorite go-to cafes.

A.Pretty damn good. Seems like the Reuben sandwich had endless layers and the banoffee pie was fantastic. I also bought some cool Japanese t shirts off them.

S.Given all the great reviews, I was excited to try this place but was disappointed in the service.
I stood reading the menu and was about to order when a regular comes up to the counter. The barista ignores me, asks if the regular is ready to order then proceeds to take his order first, not checking if I'm ready even though I was first in line.
I ordered to eat in but asked for coffee in takeaway cups and received a curt "no since you're eating here". I explained nicely that we were keen to eat quickly as we had to be somewhere else soon after and the barista stares at me for a solid 5 to 10 seconds and just shrugs and says no to the takeaway cups. No smile, no hint of trying to explain, just a rude experience.
I get that service staff aren't paid for emotional labour but seeing how friendly he was to the person before me, I'm not entirely sure why the change in attitude and I didn't see any reason for not showing a hint of kindness in comparison to the other patrons.
Food was decent, we ordered 2 sandwiches which were yum and a matcha cheesecake that was a bit on the sweet side with not much matcha flavour.

M.Tucked away down a little side street in Newton, this is one of the greatest little cafes in Auckland. The service and the coffee is great and the food is simple but amazing. A great choice of fresh sandwiches, baked treats and pastries.
A.Very nice laid back cafe, bit hard to find but once you're there it's a real treat. Next time I'm there I'm going to have a cake, they look dicious. Sit by the outside heater in winter or use one of their blankets.

At around 11.50am every day they have a cooked lunch just come out of the oven. Something different every day. My favourite so far is Pulled Pork Burrito and MeatLoaf with Duck Fat Roasted Potatos (mmmmm)

Auckland's Banoffee Pies Top 10 was voted on the internet the other day, including Coffee Pen. If you like banoffee pie, order without hesitation 👌 Many cafe banoffee pies are so sweet that the toffee (caramel part) is too sweet, but the Coffee Pen is not too sweet and is exquisitely adjusted, and the lightly effective spices are very balanced. I was able to understand the high skill of the chef in one bite.
I also ate Hash brown Bacon Frittata. This is also a very well-balanced and delicious gem, and it is very delicious with the delicious taste of vegetables in the mouth, the saltiness of bacon, and the aroma of potatoes!
Coffee was good again 🥰 I found out that everything was a good taste and popular cafe just once ♪ I would like to go again soon and try another dish ♪

いつか行きたいと思っていたCoffee Penに今回初めて行って来ました♪ 日本人の経営だと聞いていたのですが噂通りのセンスのある料理に、100%ホームメイドという素晴らしさ。コーヒーもまたとても良く大満足でした🥰
先日ネットの投票でオークランドのBanoffee Piesトップ10がでおり、その中にCoffee Penも入っていました。バノフィー好きとしては迷い無くオーダー👌 多くのカフェのバノフィーはトフィー(キャラメル部分)が甘すぎるくらい甘いのですが、Coffee Penのは甘すぎる事無く絶妙な加減で、軽く効いたスパイスが非常にバランスが取れていてシェフの技術の高さが一口で理解できました。
他にもHash brown Bacon Frittataを食べました。こちらもとてもバランスが取れた美味しい逸品で、口の中にタップリの野菜の旨味とベーコンの塩加減、芋の香ばしさが相まって非常に旨い！
コーヒーがまた良かった🥰 全てがセンス良くて人気のカフェだと一回行っただけでわかりました♪ また近いうちに行って別のお料理も試してみたいです♪
