Came here for lunch, I got omelet with toast and orange juice. I felt the omelette lacked flavor so I used quite bit of salt & pepper on it. My partner ordered mushrooms, toast & chorizo sausages, which I got food envy for as his looked and tasted yummy. (Sorry I only took pic of my food).

Finally a cafe that actually cooks the fries well done when asked to cook them well done. So many cafes just don’t bother and give you undercooked fries! Thanks Humbug!

Great little local cafe. A stand out in west auckland. Good for coffee and cabinet food, or for eating in. Decent selection of vegetarian options on the menu. Friendly folk staffing the place. Love the homely decor and Crown Lyn plates adorning the walls.

Tucked hidden in Glen Eden, this is a nice surprise for us who's recently moved in West Auckland. The staff were busy but served us on decent time. The place brings a nostalgic vintage feel with a lounge room for the little ones to play and feel at home. Getting the humbug breakfast, the servings were just right. Loving the fried potatoes, nice and golden and well seasoned. Will definitely be back! Also the bread nearly jumped out at me together with my whole breakfast, next time I'll ask for a shared knife hehe!

Really good food!! I got tomatoes, feta and pesto on toast w a side of potatoes and a ginger latte. My hubby did think his coffee was quite bitter but happy they had alternative milks. Also great area for kids to play in and must be tidied before you leave.

One of the best local cafes in the area. A good selection of menu with the conventional eggs bene and Humbug Grill breakfast which I prefer. Staff are really attentive and friendly, they look like they are having a good time working there. Place is decorated very homy and cozy, nothing too fancy. Perfect for a weekend relaxing brunch.

The sandwich gets the stars but the discrimination loses stars. People who don't have a certain substance injected into their bodies must sit on the curb and eat their sandwich... plus, never seen before legal ID and VP to enter a Cafe. 😬 weird times we live in

Lovely cafe, nice rustic wooden tables, friendly service and quick. Ordered the 12hour slow cooked pulled pork salad, was excellent, pork was perfect, yummy honey roasted walnuts, fresh apple slices, greens, bean sprouts and a lovely sauce with plenty of flavor and a little heat, my only gripe would be the lovely sauce overpowered the pork flavor a little. Had it with an iced coffee which wasn't the usual blended ice but just milk ice cream 2 espresso shots, yummy but not ice cold (it was a hot day). Lovely cafe would go again, interesting and creative menu, more so than usual, something for everyone. Plenty of parking outside. Recommended

I ordered a potato rosti stack and a bowl mocha - and overestimated my appetite because it was really filling! But the flavours so well balanced! And the mocha was really good! It was made with real chocolate and shaved chocolate on top -such a bonus!

Great local suburbia cafe Ordered Breakfast Bruscetta $15.50 which I felt needed abit of dressing/flavour. My sister in law ordered the Humbug Grill $23.50 which she couldn’t finish as it was such a large serving. Price is abit high for its location Have been here a few times over the last few years. Went there for the first time. Ordered the creamy mushrooms/eggs on sourdough and the sweet french toast. The food was delicious so yum! The service was just as good! Our waiter was was very helpful and friendly. Reasonable prices as well. We enjoyed our brunch and will be back again. Thanks!

Great food and service but was told that they don't do takeaway cups in-house. Never offered a reason, first time ever in any restaurant, cafe, eatery! Takeaway keeps the coffee hot to the last drop and just as I thought last drop was stone cold.

A very local vibe giving cafe with the best beer-battered fries in Auckland. The staff are very chill and friendly and there are plenty of seats inside and out. Defintely worth a visit when in Titirangi!

Great little cafe, especially if you have kids. Food is delicious with lots of choice and always a great atmosphere in there as its always busy. Only drawback is that I find their table service very chaotic. Things come to the table at random times and I've had multiple instances where items haven't been brought to the table as it was forgotten while they are rushing to fill other orders that also go out in fits and starts. Don't let this detract too much from your decision to visit, as you won't be disappointed with the food and drink.

What a great find! Went today with a colleague for lunch. We both got the spinach Tagliatelle with mushrooms - so delicious, pleasantly surprised with the flavors. Also a funky range of cold drinks. The staff were very nice and helpful - particularly the young lady who served us (Shayna). Nice vibe to the place too and clearly family friendly. It was packed today but service and food didnt take long. Will be going back!

Good location, space and nice looking menu. Interesting that the French toast was a savoury muffin which although light and fluffy wasn't expected. Lovely clean oil for the fried potatoes, a little disappointed that the sausage was from a roll though. One staff member seemed a little grumpy and short with other customers but overall the service was good. Will come back and try another dish or two and enjoy the great coffee.

Delicious food at a good price. The fries are cooked to perfection. The crumbed mushroom burger is amazing. The decor is unique. The one thing I did not like is I noticed a lady in the open kitchen on her phone... that is unhygienic in my opinion.

I was here for brunch with my mate on a weekend. It was quite busy, however the staff was very welcoming and found us a table. Great coffee, delicious food and good service. Only down side is that they can get busy in their peak times so there could be a wait find a table. They've got their own cakes and slices, as well as the kitchen menu. Serving size are generous so you won't leave hungry. In terms of parking there is off street parking but be careful on the main road as cars drive through a bit fast sometimes. You won't regret trying this place out, it's nestled away but worth making it your regular catch up place.

Went here with my employer for a well flavoured teapot, thick & tall iced coffee, a beautiful fettuccine with generous garlic and other flavourings and the chips with aioli were easily the best I have ever had with some large grained salt and ample parsley... not shy with the sauce either which was great. Excellent service, they want your business and they deserve it.

We're regulars here, and for good reason. Every once in a while their coffee, especially the decaf is a bit off, but other than that it's one of the best cafes in the area. Great food, friendly service, and love how kid and dog friendly it is.

Fantastic experience, this is clearly a place that does hospitality well in the old school style. Great people who have experience and didn't leave school last year. The food was delicious and well portioned. the lamb mince was super flavourful and the smoothies magic. I love humbug, there is good vegetarian options. The cabinet food and ordering menu is also very yummy! The staff are amazing and very helpful. This place is popular with families that have children and babies. There is a specific lounge in the cafe for them. There is a change table etc in the bathroom too. There's seating outside for people and dogs. They have free range eggs and meat.

Nice place for breakfast, a bit crowded but there's enough staff to deal with it. They forgot something from our meal, and when we mentioned it they brought it out straight away and gave us our coffees for free. So lovely!

The humbug is superb their bacon and eggs taste like bacon and eggs supprisingly. The eggs were so bloody perfect and the bacon was so bacony that i ate it all withoug using any tomatoe sauce.The ceiling fan is so massive and nice. When i sat under it, it actually cooled me down and made the hot bacon and eggs nice and warm. The windows stop the rain from coming in which is nice. I had a DB 2% a it tasted like 3% alcohol, very impressive. Very nice place

Accidentally stumbled across this place in what some would call 'off the beaten track' and it is a gem. The atmosphere has an old-school kiwiana vibe to it that makes the place extremely cosy and welcoming. Don't be put off if it looks busy from the road as they have more seating than you can see from the road. Food was wonderful and filling, we had the Eggs Benedict and the Pulled Pork Salad paired with two of their old-fashioned iced drinks of which we highly recommend. All in all, a wonderful place to come visit whether it's by yourself or with a friend/partner.

Delicious milk based coffee drinks. I've tried the cappuccino and flat whites and am thoroughly impressed. The milk is perfectly foamed, beautiful microbubbles make for a strong and delicious foam. The baked goods here are also very nice, and the afghan cookie was outstanding.

This has everything i love about a place. I went for breakfast and the taff were friendly, food was awesome and it wasnt just your normal standard breakfast menu either which is great! Plenty of vegetarian options aswell. Coffee was really good. Ill definately be going back. The only reason im taking of a star is because it was so busy and the wait for food was pretty long. So avoid peak times if youre hungry! Other than that, really good place!

I've been to Humbug many times as it is so close to home and the quality is great. The vege breakfast can have the eggs replaced with their homemade baked beans to make it a vegan option, just make sure you clarify that it also needs to be dairy free.

I've been to Humbug on several occasions, usually for the amazing seasoned fries. Humbug carries a sense of character with it, which makes you feel at home. The staff are welcoming, and the service is prompt and efficient. I would recommend Humbug for anyone, whether you're after a coffee or lunch (or both, of course).

Good cafe if you live in the area. We travelled 20 minutes to try Humbug but we're not likely to return. The Reuben sandwich had a nice flavour which was partially undone by the watery kimchi inside. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and a good portion. The feta, tomato, pesto bruschetta was underwhelming when it could have been so moreish.

I live a few blocks from this café, but had no idea of its existence until one of my students told me about it. Even if it wasn't quite so close to home (major advantage and temptation) I would rank it as an outstanding café. It's got a relaxed, slightly retro vibe, but a very wide clintèle from families with kids, to businessy types hatching plans. There's a wide selection of food, from cooked meals to excellent baking and sandwiches. In my opinion the range on offer is far more interesting than what you find in more café-ridden neighbourhoods like Kingsland or Ponsonby. It can get quite busy on Saturdays and Sundays, but I've usually been able to find somewhere to sit and read a weekend paper. The coffee's excellent (and I'm an inveterate coffee snob). My only minor quibble is that once you're finished whatever you're eating and drinking, they tend to whisk your cups and plates away. It might be something peculiar to me, but I always feel as though my cup etc. give me licence to sit there and read or stare out the window. As soon as they're gone, I get the feeling I'm being hurried away. Still, on a crowded Saturday, maybe someone needs my place.
