H.Happy to see more and more decent cafe on the east. The truffle mushroom french toast and the buffalo chicken were great. Coffee was pretty good too. Can get pretty busy.

This is a nice and cosy cafe to hang out. Great selection of cabinet food as well.
Strongly recommend the egg benny with fried chicken. Simply the best!
The ginger bread pancakes were slightly dry, it would be nicer if it can be a little bit softer/moist.
S.We used to come here almost every day before lockdown! It’s such an amazing cafe and the staff are lovely! Our go-to is their eggs Benedict! They also have the BEST kumara chips eveeerrr! Definitely one of our favourite cafes!
N.Clean and cozy place to eat :) Ordered the eggs benedict with buffalo chicken and sriracha mayo and it was delicious all around! From the toasted buns, perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise sauce that'll make you want to lick the plate, moist fried chicken topped off with the sriracha. Absolutely 💯! Ginger pikelets were also good- would have been nice to have the pikelets moister. Was a tad dry but the compote and cream made up for it.
The kumara latte and Pick Me Up smoothie were the perfect drinks to get you going throughout the day. Will definitely be back!
Update: Ordering during Level 3. Service was quick and friendly. Delicious food and drinks, as always.

M.First visit here at the weekend. Ordered the ginger nut pikelets and Caesar salad.
The pikelets were a perfect size with lovely jam and cream - light and tasty.
My partner did not enjoy the salad and found it a bit tasteless. There didn’t seem to be any anchovies in it which he really likes so felt it was missing flavour.
They serve Atomic coffee and the 2 long blacks were great.
Staff were friendly and we would most likely visit again especially for coffee
A.Lily is absolutely a delight to deal with. Her customer service and management skills are outstanding. I’ve always genuinely appreciated how she ensures the customer gets the best service food and drink. She makes a delicious iced coffee. Journal is lucky to have her, a real gem who always has a happy disposition. Whilst review is posted as Aneez (my real name), they know me as Eddie - it stuck upon meet and we rolled with Chemistry we all have - Lily is amazing as is the rest of team.
M.My wife and I finally decided to explore the Ormiston Town Centre and I felt the need to post a review for Journal Cafe! All the food was freshly made from scratch and the Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict was the best I have ever had. Cooked to perfection! With the lovely staff working here this cafe should be on everyone’s list to go to soon!

Finally Ormiston has a proper cafe in our neighborhood.
There is no reason for us to drive to CBD to our brunch anymore.
Food from the menu made from fresh, very fantastic presenting and taste. The best quality cafe food in Ormiston so far.
Cabinet foods are well made too, very impressive.
One of the best coffee in Ormiston, highly recommended.

s.Cafe located in the recently opened Ormiston Centre. Nice relaxed atmosphere. I love the decor. Menu is good. Ordered the smashed avo and feta with poached egg. The mister ordered the eggs Benedict with fried chicken. My order was good, nice chunky avo pieces- needs a bit of zing though (like a squeeze of lemon and paprika). The fried chicken looked good- although too fried for my taste, the mister enjoyed it. Will be back again.
Z.i can come eat the breakfast everyday over there. Because they were not greasy and not too salty . Ingredients are fresh.
What surprised me was that Journal does nice cold brew.
What I don't like about this café is the height of window's design. Because the sun shines directly onto my face from the top of the window and the curtains are too thin -(only when you choose to sit next to it.) I was feeling my face is burning and so hot.
The space inside is quite narrow ,so you dont have much choices to sit to enjoy your food when it's busy.
The lack pf a dessert menu is a pity.
5 stars given is for helping owner to get more customers coming so that he can probably get a better curtain to make the store better and better.

A.Had a coffee catch up here today, first time visiting. Nice airy cafe, plenty of space between tables and had a light & bright interior. We sat outside which was nice and quiet with a small privacy screen on one side. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There wasn't much cabinet food to chose from, all carb based which was a shame, but they also had a cooked menu.
My brother had a slice from the cabinet but said it wasn't very good. I ordered the buffalo chicken & slaw (listed as a side) and it was delicious. It was big enough for lunch and I left very satisfied. Coffee was well made and tasty. We will be back, but eould be great to see more cainet options added. 😊

L.Coffee, staff and the interior are the highlights of this place. Unfortunately I recieved a coffee wrong once (regular instead of a large) no biggie they were really busy (a good sign), we still go there every weekend for coffee. Definitely recommend.

T.Whilst the sandstone coloured walls may look like you’re somewhere in Arizona, you’re actually in Ormiston - not somewhere you would have thought was a hot bed of culinary excellence. But the food really is exceptional! The menu is not too extensive, but what is on it is done well, and has some interesting twists on some of them - creative rather than experimental. A particular highlight we tried was the savoury french toast which was topped with mushrooms, truffle oil and parmesan - perfectly matched flavours. It makes you wonder why this dish is not more widely done! The gingerbread pikelets are also well worth trying. They are definitely pikelets, with just the right texture and go perfectly well with the gingerbread crumb. The coffee is fine, and made consistently. Not eye poppingly good, but certainly not a disappointment. The staff were all very pleasant and happy, which is always a good sign. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
A.I thought the food was much better than Mogly. The pork belly and the chicken baos were tasty. The kids fried chicken got the thumbs up too. Good coffee too. Will be coming back.
