Honestly looks good from the outside and it’s always buzzy during the weekends. But honestly, the service was ok and food was ok. Nothing special about the food but hey, it still attracts a lot of locals.

Good food, with above average prices. Went for breakfast about 25pp. Ordered their big breakfast version, the kid version of it was very similar even though it cost 30% less. Adequate place to go to. Good place to go to if you have dietary preferences. Service was wonderful.

A very chic, fresh eatery on the North Shore, Scout seems to tick all the boxes. The interior is invitingly decked out in contemporary pastel shades and light wood with a sprinkling of greenery throughout. And one cannot ignore the startling number of pretty pink accents from the menus to the table vases. The menu is a cafe-hopper’s delight, classics aplenty along with signature twists to invite exploration, to say nothing to say nothing of the tempting treats in the cabinet which were demolished by the Saturday lunch crowd in the time we dined. My two companions enjoyed brunch from the kitchen while I had a chicken bagel. Their breakfasts were stunningly presented, although a request for no hollandaise seemed to have been forgotten. The bagel was generously filled and just right for the morning. Service was friendly, but not as efficient as it could have been. A lengthy wait for our coffees and we witnessed the waitress having a chat while our drinks stood getting colder. Our second round of drinks we had better luck with. Coffee definitely good enough to enjoy seconds. I tried a matcha latte. Very on-trend and made with coconut milk, a little sweet for my own taste but worth a try. I ventured in for a second visit on the morning of my departure just as they were opening. Again, a lack of efficiency in service but the salmon bruschetta was absolutely stunning. If the youthful staff just recieved a touch more training in service, this would be a 5/5 destination for sure.

Delicious breakfast! We had the Big breakfast and the French toast, can recommend both! The coffee was nice :) Suggestions: - The big breakfast could do with a relish or sauce or something. - The sweet french toast could be cut by some acidity like a berry compote, it's sooo sweet (but delicious!) - Stabilize the round outside tables, they keep tipping side to side

Our first visit to Torbay so we decided to grab a little lunch. We ordered the Karaage chicken with salad and the Scout breakfast. The Karaage chicken dish was huge and I didn’t manage to finish it all. The pickles in the salad were delicious. The Scout breakfast was a hit with my partner especially the savoury waffle (never saw that before) Very good coffee also

Duck fat roast potatoes? sausage? Gravy? And an egg!?! How did all my favourite foods end up in one breakfast dish?? I have no idea - but it was divine... My breakfast companions were barely a quarter of the way through their (equally delicious) meals when I had wolfed down the entire thing. Service was very prompt once we got sorted (bit of confusion as to whether there was table service or counter ordering) and the coffees were just as good as anything we get at home in central city.

However, the coffee is now pretty bad and last time we went it was FREEZING (warmer outside than in) with no heaters and even the blankets they used to provide for outside diners were gone. We would have stayed longer but needed to go back to the car to watm up! Needs to go back to focusing on providing good coffee and atmosphere.

Coffee was great! Food was okay, I had the edamame smash and thought it was very small. Was a shame there was such a small amount of the smoked feta, I could hardly taste it. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but would stop in again if I was in the area.

Coffee was good, had a rich fruity flavour. Scones were nice and the cabinet baked goods looked nice. The menu food looked good, however the family who sat next to us sent back their food due to an abundance of hair in their blueberry pancakes.

The milk they use for the coffee is both creamy and fresh, truly wonderful, as was the food. Am here on a Sunday and it is packed but the staff have been handling the load well, didn't wait long for my food and got a seat straight away. Toroa St. was pretty packed for parking but I found one close enough. Definitely recommend.

Always reliable and I've wanted to take photos of breakfast on a couple of occasions as it was so well presented. Great coffee and several unusual choices. The staff are always helpful and friendly too. What more could you want from a local cafe?

Pancakes are amazing. Unfortunately I didn't get them this time I tried the bang chicken salad, chicken was delicious but there were only 4 small pieces on the plate and a huge salad. If the ratios were better it would have been a great dish.

Beautiful little cafe we went to for breakfast whilst on holiday. I had the quinoa porridge and my husband had the eggs Benedict. Both were great with fresh ingredients. My porridge was bursting with fruit and flavours that nicely complimented each other- strawberries, candied walnuts, raspberry dust on top, the whole dish was delicious. The coffee was also good and the atmosphere outside and in was friendly, clearly a popular local place

A really lovely place to come sit in the sun, in their partially covered outdoor area with blankets and a heater. Delicious coffee and friendly service. Will update review once I go there for a delicious vegan brunch!

After choosing Scout Café for our Birthday Brunch experience, we were very disappointed. We ordered Eggs with the works (mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon, salmon & hollandaise sauce for 2) on sourdough 'toast'. My eggs were slightly undercooked & I didn't enjoy eating raw egg whites on bread that was at best - warmed rather than toasted. Our Coffees weren't hot enough. The small Table for 3 was not adequate-space wise. The Table rocked & was uneven. The eggs definitely weren't cooked properly. Service felt impersonal. We've decided to choose somewhere else next time we go out for Brunch.

Good coffee. Really stingy Egg Benedict on one small piece of cheap bread. Why do cafes do this? They will loose so much more business from being tight.

Big fan of this place. They have very good coffee, and a really nice atmosphere. Good to be able to sit out and enjoy the sun, or inside out of whatever weather auckland is throwing at you. Excellent cakes and sweets. Their mini donuts are great for a bite, and their berry and chocolate swirls are big enough to share (if you have to). Also have a good variety of hot and savory food. Worth heading to as a destination if you live near Torbay.

Must have had an off day - most of the dairy free meals had items out of stock so I had the Green Scout. Was actually quite nice, just not what I would have liked. The waitress we had thought eggs were dairy so it was sent back for the egg it needed. Service was slow despite the café having just emptied out but perhaps this was as a result of breaks following a busy period. Their Matcha & beetroot lattes were the saving grace, & their coffee was good too.
