Reviews of The Hideout Espresso Bar
W.
10/10 decor and wall art. Coffee was great, service was great.
I had the breakfast sandwich and a cinnamon bun. The bun was great, but the sandwich was a bit much, with three types of meat, an egg, and a hash brown between two pieces of 2 thick slices of sourdough. I believe it would have worked better as a bacon and egg sandwich with hash brown and sausage on the side. Still, very tasty and great value for money.

Such a cute little cafe. Loved their figurines and attention to detail for the decor. They were very accommodating when hubby asked for potato instead of kumara fries. And they use metal straws! Good on them!!
T.
The staff here are amazing. SUPER nice.
I have low expectations for coffee outside the states (I see why y’all add so much cream) but I was surprised by how good the coffee was too.
And the food... it was not the default recipe for a Reuben. But I LOVED this take on it.
D.
Great service and good food. They have a full menu as well as cabinet food.
A.
This place has a nice chilled out vibe but the guys running the place work really hard and are super friendly. The food is awesome and their coffee's really good. The service is pretty quick but you don't feel rushed even when their busy. They've got some nice stuff in the cabinet too including desserts. Highly recommend the kumara hash browns, I could easily eat just that for breakfast. Good place, good people, and a great way to spend weekend mornings.

The Hideout was the first place I had my breakfast the day I started working in New Zealand, I still remember the breakfast made my day back then, almost 2 years after, I returned to this small cafe for a good reason...BREAKFAST!.
if we could only add a 6th star, this would be the place to put it!.
J.
My second visit here and again not disappointed! Got here a little late today so opted for a salami sandwich from the cabinet with a side of kumara fries! Yum! The staff were friendly like how I remembered. I’d highly recommend this place!

Great coffee, comfortable modern atmosphere and friendly owners. Having walked passed many times before, I paused today long enough to see the Kokako. I really like Kokako coffee so had high hopes for the coffee at The Hideout. It did not disappoint.
The food is also fantastic. We had Peanut butter, Bananas & Bacon with a side of Mushroom, and the $16.50 Bacon + Eggs + Regular Coffee. The food looked amazing, was freshly cooked, and tasted great. The kumara sourdough they use is some of the best I've had, and really complement the dishes. I look forward to going back.

Excellent coffee, creamy dark chocolate notes. Food and service also top notch. My new favourite cafe.

Really enjoy our experiences at the Hideout. We don’t go as often as we like but when we do go the service always exceeds our expectations! Food is great! Coffee hits the spot! And the staff are super lovely! Clean and tidy store! A++++

Andy is one of Auckland’s best baristas and the care and attention he puts into his mahi at The Hideout is more than apparent. Aside from the wholesome, delicious, fresh food and the exquisite coffee and beverages, the cafe oozes character and charm with local art on the walls, lush plants in every corner (Andy is quite the botanist), great music and warm service with a smile. I can’t recommend this cafe enough to anyone who wants to support the real, local business owners who take true pride in their work.
A.
Really nice coffee from Kokako served in delightful little mugs, friendly service, a nice array of hot sauce, and eggs served on delicious kumara sourdough! Cabinet options seems pretty sound too.
This is a hole in the wall cafe that is initially easy to miss but a great destination for cafe goers who want to have a quick breakfast.

Great good , good price, hip workers. I could see slightly into the kitchen and the care the chef took. She wanted to make sure it was perfect. I like that kind of touch. 5 stars .

Probably the best cold brew coffee I've ever had, really friendly service, and delicious cabinet food (definitely try the banoffie pie). I'll 100% be visiting again.
H.
Kokako coffee (including Nitro brew), tasty food (even for the more self conscious customers) and desserts. But what makes it special and gives it a soul is the owner. The Japanese touches make it very cost.
P.
This place is superb! Great coffee and for breakfast they combined my 3 favourite things: bananas, bacon and peanut butter. Very generous serve and quite delicious
C.

Luckily stumbled upon the place on a cold rainy Monday morning. Great coffee and very friendly staff. The Chai and Matcha drinks are recommended. Bright atmosphere with music match. Their creamy garlic mushroom is a must try! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Lovely little place hidden away in Up Town. Good food, the burger had good thick bacon, great coffee & the staff were friendly.
Not the best parking around, but a great hang out if you're a local.

We’ve tried bucketloads of coffee shops in Auckland and this one’s easily our favourite.
The coffee is delicious every. single. time.

The Hideout is one of my favourite places for lunch - their Fix and Fogg Smoke & Fire with avo + feta on toast is the BEST! They serve great coffee and always have an array of delicious treats too.

Really lovely wee hideaway off Symonds St. Great menu filled with fresh and yum ideas (I had halloumi, spinach, tomatoes, beetroot hummus, and poached egg on quality gluten-free toast - Venerdi Six seeds ). And just really lovely people 🙂 happy, secluded, upbeat but quiet enough, just a really nice atmosphere. thanks guys
K.
Love this place, it our local for a reason. Can’t fault the coffee and the service.
G.
Really good coffee, and the breakfast sandwich is delicious. Friendly staff too.
J.
Absolutely impressed. Great food and staff.
Best black coffee in Auckland.
If you like black coffee, try their filter coffee! The first time I've ever actually tasted all the fancy words used to describe coffee beans was in Espresso Hideout's filter coffee.
I used to look down on filter coffee and only drink short/long blacks, but these guys must perform some magic or perhaps sprinkle a little cocaine, because I'm now seriously hooked on that filter coffee.
Nitro cold brew is great too!
D.
Being a coffee ‘Snob’ I guenuinly think this is the best in Auckland. Hollumi breakfast is amazing!!
