Reviews of The Junction Eatery
E.
A hidden gem in Birkenhead! Worth finding your way to the upstairs seating, sheltered or outside, for the stunning views and open air vibe. The friendly and helpful staff make this place a pleasure to visit 👏🏼 Great coffee and dinner drinks, and both a kitchen menu plus cabinet food. Always a relaxed and enjoyable experience here 😊
I.
Excellent food, value for money, friendly and approachable service from all. Dog friendly and understanding management refunded a miscommunication. Hard to get better value on the Shore.
J.
The place was our first meal out with our new grandson and daughter in law, and we came from south island.
Our 1yo made a mess and the service was unphased, cleaned up, and got all the dishes to the table together so we were all able to ear together.
The fish chowder was amazing, and I am from Cape Cod Massachusetts ....we are chowder snobs. The salmon, the scallops, and the steaks were perfection.
The views were amazing and the decor was beautiful.
J.
Don't let the front seating put you off, they have a second floor at the back with a lot of tables and a great view overlooking the bush. There's also a small bar with a craft beer selection on tap. The food was great and reasonably priced, they have an interesting concept range of both sweet and savory waffles. All the food was great, would definitely be there I go back to if I'm in the area.
d.
Amazing service. All the staff are friendly and great.
Superb selection all day and night round. Happy hour some days as well
Dope spot with a great view.
200/10
V.
A great spot with a view to enjoy your weekend brunch with friends. Wonderful service with a smile and the bar is a nice touch when you want to host a group of friends or family.
f.
Absolutely define, customer service was amazing and the food was perfect! We would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Fair pricing
L.
This place was perfect, genuinely nothing bad I can mention about it. The drinks were wonderful, the food was perfect and the prices were reasonable. Would recommend to anyone wanting to eat something in Birkenhead.
B.
The Junction Eatery is a great venue for a private dinner or a group event. The hosts really go out of the way to make sure that you are happy, food is very very good, vibe is modern with a lovely view - this place deserves a lot of visitors. Perfect size for our event which filled the whole upstairs, but also good for smaller events because you can close the big ranchsliders and stick to the balcony. I preordered platters which got rave reviews and was fair size especially considering there is no venue rental fee. Hosts are great lovely people and deserve to be successful. 5/5 stars for food and service and venue.
J.
Beautiful meals and AMAZING mocktails 😊
F.
First day out of Auckland semi lockdown and this was one of our first go to’s. Weren’t disappointed, (we felt like they may have been understaffed (understandably) but we had a fantastic evening, great waitress who wasn’t used to working evening menu was awesome and the food, scallops/ fish burger/ beef entree and chips where all amazing. Will be back again asap
F.
Great food and a better view!
This a calm and collected cafe for anyone that wants to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning.
We had the Spanish eggs and vegetable waffles along with one of the best banana smoothies I have had to date!
L.
I highly recommend the chicken burger, it’s a bit spicy and crunchy, very delicious with the best fries! Would be even more yummy with avocado. I just was not a fan of the bread bun... the rest was very good, and to top it off, a really nice view.
A.
A trendy place with nice outdoor seating. This is a nice place for a group catch up or a casual coffee. It's kid and dog friendly, and has lots of vegetarian options.
L.
A very quiet spot for a meal on a Saturday evening this winter. So we had plenty of space and didn't need to worry about our conversation being too loud. The menu had nice dishes but not enough vegetarian or vegan selection for my liking. They were accommodating about our dietary needs. However there could have been more follow-up from the serving staff to ensure everything was to our liking or to offer more drinks or sides. An opportunity lost to upsell or to offer extras.
m.
Brilliant venue for a few drinks some food and great music - saw the bobby holidays couple of fridays ago -great night
K.
Great view of harbour, city and rainforest. Indoor and covered outdoor seating to enjoy the view. Quality was good and priced accordingly. Nice atmosphere with modern feel.
T.
It initially looked like a very small place but was surprised that there is a back stair that leads up to a balcony area with stunning views.
The food and coffee was tasty, Lamb sliders with a side of smoked salmon. The only thing that let me down was that we had had 2 of our girls with us (3 and 6) and we weren't at any time offered the kids menu.
This would've allowed us more options for the kids.
M.
Great food with great service , the lamb shank tastes absolutely amazing, great experience , highly recommend for Birkenhead neighbourhood, 5 stars reviews is just not enough :-)
R.
Great view if you sit on the balcony! Take something warm if you want to sit there though as it tends to be quite windy but this shouldn't deter you at all. I had the the Junction big breakfast (poached eggs on toasted sourdough with free range bacon, pork and fennel sausage, portobello mushrooms and grilled baby vine tomatoes and sautéed potatoes served with house relish) and boy did it hit the spot. Good customer service too and would be a great spot for a drink and dinner in the evening.
m.
fantastic views, but also fantastic food. Lots of great free-range and organic choices here. Great menu for the day, and at night the perfect place to get a cocktail, the upstairs bar has that warm inviting feel about it.
K.
It's my second visit but I have not been here for a while and we were not disappointed.
I went with a group of mates for brunch and we all enjoyed our meals. I highly recommend the junction Benedict! The vegetable gratin tasted amazing.
The staff were really friendly and not forgetting the view! We will definitely will be returning.
c.
dining with a stuning mountin view on the deck, which might be the reason that they r always busy. food is ok, but they both took too long to came, we've waited bout half hour, and no one was taking care of our table while we r waiting.
B.
From the moment we stepped inside, after taking in the cityscape from the balcony, a special night was unrolling before us. Happy hour cocktails while we awaited our guests (espresso martini was outstanding) then a relaxed couple of hours of shared plates, great beer and a lot of laughs. Our new favourite on the Shore.
J.
Overall enjoyed the experience. Got the beef burger which came with a side of fries which was very nice. The sauce that came with the fries was amazing and the fries were too. The burger was nice also, I thought the beef and the egg were slightly overcooked but the ingredients were delicious. The service was very good. My girlfriend got the fettuccini which was delicious. Would recommend!
J.
This is by far one of the classy and comfy cafe I've been in NZ (yet). Coffee tastes great, there's a bar on the second floor too. But I stayed on the 2nd due to the great ambience and was able to doodle in my journal at peace. Salads here are great too if those are your niche!
E.
Friendly staff, cosy ambience and attractive decor.
Breakfast was tasty and coffee good.
Only complaint is got food before coffee.
T.
Attentive but slow service providing reasonable food, but not great. Excellent view from the balcony. A real beast of a coffee machine downstairs but being honest you can get better coffee elsewhere. Overall The Junction is ok, worth it for a quick chat and bite with a good view.
R.
Fabulous views of Auckland City from the upper deck and cafe lounge. Very pleasant location and service. Drinks and food nicely prepared. Prices in normal range.
Good place to meet and converse.
L.
Great food and good service. Lovely place and views. Dog friendly.
K.
Nice upstairs environment, with nice views, even though impaired by rainy days. Not very budget friendly, but portions are generous. Delicious 😋
R.
Great place, magnificent view from the top deck and not to forget the Awesome brownies!
M.
Food was great and very tasty. Service was slow, so got quite anxious about getting a parking ticket as had only allowed an hour for lunch and we ended up there for 2 hours. Staff very nice and friendly. Great if you want an unhurried relaxed meal. Next time I will advise them if it's an office lunch (or book ahead) so we can get back to work in a reasonable amount of time.
J.
The junction big breakfast is so good!
Friendly staff👍🏻
Definitely visit again and try their waffle!!
P.
The Junction Eatery was a serendipitous little discovery. I set out with my adult daughter for afternoon tea at a cafe somewhere on the North Shore. I kinda wanted to go to Birkenhead with the hope that this tiny little Patisserie would be open. It wasn't. Holidays. I'd spotted The Junction Eatery in the main street when we first arrived in Birkenhead and commented to my daughter that we'd come back to the eatery if the patisserie wasn't open. So that was how we ended up at The Junction Eatery.
I thought it was just a street level cafe, but no it's much more than that, go upstairs to a bar and open dinning on a covered deck with amazing panoramic views back over tree topped Birkenhead, Rangitoto, Mt Victoria, some of the ports and harbour.
They have regular cafe fare during the day, and lunch, food is nice, and reasonably priced. The Junction Eatery also does dinner, I'm not sure if it's every night, so please check their website or go as a cafe guest, check the Junction out and bring friends, family back for dinner.
I was going to keep this place a secret for my selfish little self, but there ya go, The Junction Eatery has been my best find this summer. Go. When I go back I'll take some photos.
L.
Great Cafe for a group wishing to book a table. Good service and food was tasty, nice selection on the menu. Enjoyed the vegetable waffles with crumbed chicken, others had big breakfast, poached eggs & bacon, mashed avocado on sour dough, chorizo sausage & mushrooms all meals were good portions & enjoyed by all of the 7 in our group. Would definitely recommend. Arrive in plenty of time to find parking as it's in a busy area🙂
E.
Amazing restaurant. The owner seem very casual and friendly. Food quality was superb. Will come again!
T.
Amazing hard working staff and owners and very clean and luxurious venue
D.
Delicious food!
Dish: Catch of the night
J.
Amazing long black. Salmon Gravlax was 10/10 and the service couldn't have been better, will be back for sure.
T.
Didn't get to give my compliments before we left but had brunch here today and had such a great experience! Great view and was perfect in the sun. I think the manager (Chris?) was serving us today and he was so lovely and the food was great! Looking forward to coming back.
W.
What a joy to walk into the Junction Eatery and be so welcomed and served such beautiful coffee and food of choice, both of which were delicious and to be able to relax in such lovely surroundings, was a real treasure to find in the heart of Birkenhead. Thankyou so much to the owners, would definitely recommend and will certainly be back!
S.
Nice place to have a coffee with great view
도.
Good service. Great view. A bit more wine selections and better cheeses can make the place better.
B.
Good hot drinks, will have a bite to eat next time.
V.
Their vanilla waffles are always amazing and the staff are always so friendly. The view is also spectacular!
S.
Always great service and happy smiling staff and really good coffee. I haven't eaten here yet though. I generally just go for a coffee and a relax.
S.
Really delicious, and good service too..
H.
Best. Almond. Croissants. Ever.
M.
Such an amazing place, great view, tasty food and really good service
My fish with risotto was beautiful and the lamb shank... TOP.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
T.
Excellent food for a reasonable price with a beautiful view off the balcony! Only issue was the slow service but will definitely be back
J.
Junction Eatery is my favorite cafe in all of Auckland. Amazing food, incredible service. It has a lovely setup and the food and coffee is always flawless. I do not go to any other cafe if I can ever help it.
D.
Awesome Restutant.. upstairs for beautiful views, conveniently located in the heart of Birkenhead... foods always quick and delicious... Best thing is the quality coffee and friendly owner/staff... would recommend..
A.
Best place and best customer service ever. And the food is awesome.
N.
The best Eggs Benedict , and hot chocolate I have had in years . The vege gratin as they base was inspired !!!!
If your hungry come and enjoy the amazing food , fantastic staff and wonderful views ❤️
C.
Always awesome. Had my favourites..Spanish baked eggs for lunch and for brunch the next day the Brazilian caramel waffles with banana and I always add bacon to help cut through all that delicious sugar!
M.
A good venue for an enjoyable lunch.
E.
Love this place. The view from the deck is amazing, as is the food. I try something new everytime I go and have yet to be disappointed. They have particularly good vegetarian options. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.
B.
Used First Table for this booking went well and meal for 3 people with the discount applied was extremely reasonable. We loved the steak but the bacon wrapped chicken and Wagyu beef burger were so so. Staff were fantastic
K.
We had a Groupon voucher for a 2 meal for 2.
Shared and entree, with had mains and shared a dessert.
What a great meal!
Deep fried Brie was awesome.
Burger and Chicken roulade outstanding.
Chocolate deliche was DELICIOUS.
Terrific value for money in a great location.
Service was excellent as well.
Sorry to be leaving Auckland otherwise this would be one of our regulars.
Don't wait to go.
Go Now!
P.
Great coffee (atomic), a good menu and friendly staff. The view from the outside mezzanine area is also very impressive. They also have Hallertau on tap if you fancy making a night of it.
The cafe downstairs is less formal and has an adequate range of freshly baked goodies.
c.
Beautiful food , good service, best views, highly recommend +++
A.
Wonderful service! One of the staff lovely Magda made me feel like a family member from the start. The food was excellent- eggs Bene with grilled mushrooms. Decent size and nice presentation. Very fast service as well. And the view! Out to the sea and magestic Rangitoto island. What a hidden gem at Highbury! Highly recommended. I'd love to come back for a dinner.
G.
By chance when in auckland a failed uber trip we ended up at the Junction eatery in Birkenhead. What a find.awesome staff and the food presentation and taste superb.10/10
Definitely a return visit.
D.
The best eggs on toast in the city! Such an amazing atmosphere at this place. Go see for yourself!
D.
Went here for dinner. Not bad, but certainly not living up to their claim of being the "North Shore’s new premier restaurant and eatery". Staff apparently totally overwhelmed by our group of 13, in an almost empty restaurant, and consequently service was lacking.
Food OK.
Good beer choices.
I.
Just enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Junction. Lovely new owners and highly skilled chef! Well recommended!
E.
Went there for lunch today and found this cafe served awesome food. Prices reasonable, service excellent and best coffee in North Shore. Stunning views from cafe. Would recommend friends and definitely go again!
J.
Came here while it was quiet to catch up with a friend. The jugs of the IPA were fairly priced, and the owners were really nice and hospitable.
М.
Nice place to have a breakfast. Next door experience. Friendly staff. Decent coffee. Wonderful view from the upper deck. Green omelette is super delicious.
J.
We all had great breakfasts, friendly service and a lovely table outdoors
E.
Everyone is very friendly here with great service and good coffee
c.
It's a great local cafe with plenty of seats and great space
Of course food and service was very good. We've been here many times and will keep visiting here
W.
The staff member my group dealt with was very friendly. Drinks for our table took an hour to arrive. Food was another long wait after the drinks arrived. Staff apologised and put the long wait in service down to an event happening upstairs.
A.
Always a pleasure dining here. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner it always never fails to impress. Staff are always friendly and good. The person who served us tonight was amazing.
A.
The new management are very nice with a friendly and caring staffs who have provided not only high quality meals and drinks but also a relaxing space for me and my wife to sit for hours to chill, study and work.
R.
Really lovely staff, but drinks took a while and then food took ages, it was fine but would have been way better if they let us know there was a wait on food as we had a baby and she was getting restless which was annoying other diners. Sorry!
H.
Great location, sunniest spot in Birkenhead and great for people watching. Interesting & tasty food selection and good coffee. Also have a reasonable kids menu. Pricing is slightly above normal for the area.
k.
Fantastic look out Auckland city. Great food. 👍
T.
The Juction Eatery is a great place to have flat coffee in Birkenhead. The food and the view are amazing. The staff is also very friendly. I have a great experience there.
R.
A nice hungover Sundeey morning brunch.. Went for the standard coffee and egg benny combo.. not much to say other than beaaautiful! Good atmosphere always happy to eat here. Nom nom nominy nom.
C.
My partner and I decided to check out Birkenheads newst Café and Eatery for sunday brunch.
The Atmosphere was lovley with soft music and mood lighting , Staff where very friendly and approachable , we enquired about the after 12 menu as it was 11.30 and staff where happy to check with the kitchen and confirm they would be happy to start from the later menu.
I ordered the Eggs benny on Vege Gartin with a Honey lemondae , My partner got a fresh beetroot salad with Quinoa and Kale.
The food was flavoursum and fresh and really went down a treat.
W.
Delicious Burger and fries, and a poached egg stack, all lovely and fresh, well presented, also a ginger and cocoanut soda, very refreshing. Ooh and the views over the city are amazing on a clear day.
M.
Very nice, a little pricy but totally worth it. We'll definitely come back, everything in the menu seems amazing and the dishes were actually amazing.
D.
A great spot with a wonderful view looking back to the city. I have been for breakfast and evening drinks. The food is great and the beer is craft. Very kid friendly at breakfast
H.
Had an amazing experience. The young lady that was serving us on Saturday 9 Feb is amazing person. We left with great memories. THANK YOU
R.
To be honest. Average. Food was average. The price was average for the average food. The place itself and location is cool. But not cool enough to go back again.
P.
This is far and away the smartest place in Birkenhead and has nice service too. I don't quite get the monster steps but on a sunny day I guess it would be nice
N.
Awesome location, beautiful view and tasty food.
L.
Great and lovely service, beautiful breakfast with the view
J.
Portion is a bit on the small side for the price you pay. And wait for food is quite long. But otherwise it's a nice location for brunch.
E.
Beautifully presented, delicious food at a more than reasonable price, attentive staff, great views and doggy friendly! Best eggs Bene ever!
T.
Always nice - city and Harbour views if you eat outside.
M.
Great place for coffee and a view but looks slightly understaffed during busy times. Other than that one of the top places for brunch on the shore for me
J.
Food and service great. Coffee was not Soy as ordered resulting in an unpleasant day due to my Lactose intolerance 😖

At $36 for a gluten free big breakfast and a tea ,I found this establishment 50% more expensive than any other eatery's around.
