The cafe interior was lovely, we sat outside and the breeze was wonderful. Their blended ice mocha was one of the best we've had and their tea comes in a gorgeous teapot and tea set. The food was also amazing, toasted sandwiches were made perfectly and their eggs benedict had a delicious hollandaise sauce and instead of using regular bread they used waffles which made the classic dish a bit unique- highly recommend!

Hidden gem across from the Big Countdown on Gt Sth Rd, Manukau is this well appointed cafe. Went at Brunchtime & had many options to tempt me. The cabinets held many luscious savoury & sweet treats. The staff were friendly & welcoming, the cafe boasts indoor & outdoor dining (I chose outdoor as it was a warm mild day) My iced mocha was promptly served while I waited for my wagyu mince on kumara hash. Definitely recommend if you are in the Manukau area

Nice setting and atmosphere. I had the chicken filo from the cabinet, but it was overdone - dry rather than flaky filo and dry chicken. Coffee was nice. Service was so so.

Beautiful little cafe. Love the ambiance and decor. Menu has so many options to choose from. Everything was presented so beautifully. However inspite of all that the food was just average. Omelette was very average and waffles weren't great either. Coffee was good and the staff was nice . Very busy on the weekends.

Overall the food and ambience was great, felt very quaint and the food and coffee was above average. I ordered the club sandwich while my wife ordered the egg omelette. Both tasted very good and even received compliments from nearby tables for its presentation. The coffee (americano) tasted good as well. Unless you like the sun, I would not suggest sitting near the window during the morning/early afternoon because the sun hits you directly; even though there are curtains, it wont protect you from the heat it generates

Really good coffee - I wish I found this place earlier, as I spent some time instead at Melba, which is not nearly as nicely done as here. Staff were nice and friendly and noticed my long black coffee was hot and offered to double-cup it! Nice attention to detail!

The service was great and quick the BLT was some kind of rockstar of a dish. Who would have thought a sandwich can be so deliciously satisfying. The fries had a lovely crispy batter, subtle enough not to overpower yet add a lovely crunch and spice. The sauce was so yummy. Highly recommended.

The place is beautiful I’ll give it that! Their iced mocha is decadent and mouth watering! Their lattes are great too! But when it comes to food, it’s either average or disappointing. My last trip to Urban soul, I decided to order a salmon eggs Benedict and the egg was over cooked and the salmon was dry and also very over cooked. It was extremely disappointing. Stick to their drinks menu!

I would recommend booking for a weekend if there's more than 2! Quite busy. It's a bit strange to me that we couldn't get served at the table and had to go to the counter to order but not too big of a deal. The menu is a little lack-lustre. Quite limited choices and didn't have one of the options one of us wanted to order. My ice chocolate however was great and my haloumi salad was nice but could have more seasoning. Love the decor inside!

Awesome atmosphere They may want staff to clear rubbish away from walkway entrance on the side of Gas station, other than that premises very clean inside. Staff were very helpful and courteous. I had eggs Benedict on kumara mash with salmon. To drink I had very yummy beetroot latte. Try it you won't regret it.

Visited the cafe yesterday with family & enjoyed it very much & plan to return. Good coffee & you passed the extra hot test with my flat white with flying colours & my sister enjoyed her cappuccino too & she is very passionate about her coffee! We both enjoyed the scones we had to accompany them. My only negative was that our server taking our order at the till was a little abrupt but apart from that the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Enjoyed a beautiful large latte and a 'melt in your mouth' blueberry and cream cheese muffin with a friend here today. I never knew this place even existed! It was really hard to choose from the scrumptious looking delights in the cabinet. Super quick service and delivered with a big smile. Plenty of seating, and a lovely fresh clean atmosphere. My friend had the chips and a small flat white. The chips were awesome and lightly seasoned. Very tasty. I had to help her finish them, was quite a generous serving.

While it is a little off the beaten track it is a popular eatery. The food is excellent; staff are friendly and welcoming - even if they are busy; seating is plentiful. The range of menu items is sufficient for any pallet. The popularity makes parking a little congested but there is additional space on the lane outside the parking area. Definitely worth the side trip.

Lovely French country atmosphere. Bustling and busy but seemed to be good turn over. The waitresses were very efficient and friendly. We only had coffee and fries but the food in the cabinet looked amazing and the dishes we saw being taken around were also delicious. I've got to try the toasted sandwiches on a stick! The decor in this cafe is gorgeous. There's plenty of space to park and to sit. The coffee is good and there's plenty on the menu or in the display to choose from. Just a 4 though because I struggled to find many savoury gluten free vegetarian options

Lovely lunch today again. Al chose the coconut pancakes which are fairly new I think and they were delicious, filling, beautifully presented and tasty. I chose the cabinet phyllo pastry with chicken and mushrooms. The filling was tasty and the pastry lovely and crispy ( they don't microwave it so hooray for them.) Just felt that like a lot of phyllo dishes the butter/oil needs to be put between each sheet and there would be more flakiness. Great coffee as usual and two lovely cakes (date and lemon, peach and passion fruit) tasty and fresh.

First thing first- parking is abysmal despite first impressions. There is a very large car park in front of the supermarket store here but it's hard to tell if it's only for the block of shops not including urban soul. There are time limit signs and a parking warden marking tyres. Directly in front of urban soul is a small car park with most of the parks reserved for other businesses and plenty of signs telling you that it will be towed if you park there. Inside the decor is ok and it's clean. The staff were friendly and efficient and the coffee nice. The food is plentiful, if somewhat typical cafe fare, but I still don't see how you can charge nearly 5 dollars for a muffin whether sweet or savoury. Makes a coffee and muffin an expensive treat. Maybe they're saving up for their own car park.

Good food, I was uncomfortable with the smell of egg in glasses when I tried to drink water. I tried a couple of grasses. They all had the same smell of egg. This is my problem May be. On the other hand glasses were not washed to portray the cleanliness.

I'm an experienced hospo person and really appreciate the subtleties that usually go unnoticed. In my experience here the service and professionalism of the F.O.H was exceptional. Our table was served in quick time considering a full house in the middle of lunch service. Our order was; grilled halloumi (5/5), Salmon Benedict (4/5), espresso (5/5), strawberry avocado smoothie (2/5, was lumpy and the avocado stole the flavours) and a pot of earl grey tea. Would definitely recommend this cafe and would come back myself.

14Jul16 Urban Soul is a Manukau icon now and a favourite with a very large cohort of regulars including locals and tenants in the Van den Brink House building that houses Urban Soul on the ground floor. Good food, good drinks and slightly pricey. So there's nothing on the menu or in the display cabinets I'd call very good value. This is the value equation difference that makes the BP Connect buttered chicken pies marginal value at $5 when they used to be good value at $4.20 until the beginning of October (so the day will arrive shortly when I'll stop buying one of these pies every week with a friend at BP then I won't even go there for the excellent coffee). Unfortunately Urban Soul has never got its coffee making process going properly. The coffee is good. But the code service is too often too long. Any longer than three minutes means that the store owner or operator must take swift action. Kreem in Mt Wellington is just bad. Otherwise, great location and friendly staff.
